So I Finally Played Counter-strike

I bought Counter-Strike: Source last year, but never played it. Well, with real players.
So, while I'm on vacation and have good internet, I tried it out. I didn't HATE it, but I didn't enjoy it.
First thing. No players. There was about 3 servers in the WC with more than 2 people. I hear from you guys that everyone is on CS 1.8 or something.
My first round with people was on a server that was 24/7 cs_office and de_dust2. I was already familiar with weapons and equipment from playing with bots. Immediately after leaving the garage with my CT buddies, I got sniped. So after a few rounds of that, I tried going the opposite way, through the buildings. 4 Terrorists immediately gun me down. So, after a few rounds of THAT, I eventually just bought a machine gun and waited behind some crates. After about 50 seconds, the Terrorists ran through the garage and kill some CT's. I ambush and kill them all, which would have helped my team if the admin didn't kill me for "Not advancing the objective".
So, next round I rushed into the offices, not waiting for my teammates. Since everyone started with $16000 every round, EVERYONE AND I MEAN EVERYONE had the sniper rifle. Getting to the hostages was impossible, since the two entrances had a guy with a rifle and a guy with an AK-47. You can't counter the sniper, since the guy with the AK will run up behind you if you try sniping the sniper.
Overall, I did not have a pleasant first experience with CS:S.
My problem? No counters.
It's whoever has the more powerful weapon, or whoever got a headshot. Your Kevlar and helmet are useless if the enemy has a sniper rifle. Even ambushing someone with an auto-shotty at point blank range is not enough.
It was most likely the server I was on, but I wouldn't know. I'm just a noob.

counter strike source is still the 3rd most played game on STEAM. It stills gets #1 most played every once in a while.

I never have any problems finding players/games. Maybe your ports are messed up?

Pro-tip: Never buy the auto shotty in CS. Manual is much better but both are rather limited. I prefer a deagle any day of the week, including thursdays and sundays.

Hum.. I played CSS a lot and I never got a game with people like this... Seriously, team-killing you for that? Yeah its normal you get pwned when they rush like 6 guy in a small area, but when the T's began to rush the garage in Office, that mean the CT are weak. Normally, with a good CT team, the fight begin in the corridors.

I know I am only one of very few people who may think this, but, in my opinion CSS is a very overrated game. Maybe thats just because I suck at it but I just cannot squeeze any fun out of it whatsoever.

CS_Office is a shit map where who ever rushes first wins. De_Dust, its a campers map. Play custom maps. That admin is also probably some hardcore child.

My problem? No counters.
It's whoever has the more powerful weapon, or whoever got a headshot. Your Kevlar and helmet are useless if the enemy has a sniper rifle. Even ambushing someone with an auto-shotty at point blank range is not enough.

That's why I only play on Gungame and no AWP servers.

Pretty much the only things I play on CSS are Gungame, Surf Maps, mini game maps, and Zombie mods.

I liked the Counter Strike Source updates they recently did...it badly needed it. Some parts of it aren't good but most of it is pretty good.

Also Counter Strike is pretty annoying lol, so many pro players.

OP is a new player. He obviously isn't going to all of a sudden be great at the game. Saying that it's the server's fault and not your own for being new is just dumb. This isn't something exclusive to cs, it can be applied to any game. You're new? Admit you suck and try to get better, quit whining.

Any way, OP just try to play GunGame servers or Surf if you can get the hang of it. The custom servers in CS:S are much better than the normal ones.

Anyways, implying that the only way to win at cs_office is rushing and that it's entirely the server's fault you lost, except for say if the server was running at like 33 tic or was laggun liek mad then there's some blame but that isn't the case, is silly. Like yourself bunniez and comboy.

CSS is basically a laughing stock anyway, its pretty much Valve's most half-assed game anyway and was more or less made to show off the Source engine, now it relies on the community to drag its sorry ass around anway. Pretty much the only reason I play it now is see idiot's reactions when I team-flash, spam radio, and voice spam (The fact that they don't know where the mute button is makes it them look even more retarded.)

What's more of a laughing stock is that you play a game you don't enjoy nor apparently like just to get a minor thrill out of annoying people. It's not their fault you obviously suck and it's still not their fault that you've made no attempt to get better.

I'd enjoy your post much more if you posted the 'reactions' or something similar like the federation of asshole gamers. The sad thing I highly doubt you even do what you said considering you showed interest in the game in the CSS beta thread. However, within that thread you did make yourself appear stupid multiple times, as pointed out by AzN, which I think caused your sudden hatred.

most expensive weapon is actually a machine gun. And if any server starts you with max cash, 16k, they don't have to give you it every round. There's a simple trick to replenish funds on these 16k pub servers. Just go spec, then go back to your team, there you go, max cash again.

Yeah, use flashbangs and be more aware of your footsteps. Footsteps are pretty loud, so listen out at all times for footsteps and when you think enemies are nearby use shift to walk or ctrl to crouch so you don't be all noisy up in their grill

Use headphones, you can hear other people much better compared to speakers. If you're going to use flashbangs, try not to throw them where your team is, they and yourself can get flashed by them. Be aware, and learn to read the radar, it does wonders in this game.

And don't just walk the whole map, rather in situations where you can easily be heard. Say you're playing office and you're a ct trying to rescue the hosties from t spawn. Walk around a bit, if the T isn't a total retard he'll hear you if you shoot something/run/throw a nade, etc.
