As you may or may not know, Chrono Compendium lost all of their projects and downloads after a cease-and-desist letter sent out by Square (Which violates the copyright act of 1976, but whatever) resulting in the abandonment of Crimson Echoes when it was already 90% done.
Afterwards, the development team went underground and eventually an early alpha of the game was leaked. The leak was picked up by this new team, and based on the screenshots and trailers provided when CE was still in development, released a new beta last year under the title "Flames of Eternity". It's still being worked on and the link I posted is the development thread. Just thought I should share.
The post was from October 2009, a little old news, but I never heard it, so news flash for me.
Anyways it sounds promising. After watching that trailer for Crimson Echoes on Youtube from that link, I am angered Square was so stupid and destroyed that idea. The game looked amazing for a fan-made game, the story even looked good for a fan-made game. It's sad that a game that deserves a sequel, can't even see the light of day through the fans, and I wouldn't even consider it copyright, more as it's a tribute to the original. So instead of making a sequel to a game we want, Square just decides to port all their classics to the DS, WTF?!?!
Anyways now that I've vented out, I just don't get why Square couldn't become part of this game. Why couldn't Square just decide that it looked like a good game, and try and contact the developers and try to publish and produce the game to make it past the internet, and into a DS game. Not only would that satisfy the fans, but the people who developed that game, could've all been greatly helped by that for their careers if they wanted to pursue a career into video game making. The whole thing is a mound of bullshit and I hate Square for being so dumb and selfish.
Hopefully Flames of Eternity can see the light of day.
I really wish square would just make a new chrono game like they said they would. But apparently they wont now because not enough people bought the ds remake. It makes me a little angry. I miss square soft but i think square enix is still a good company but not for fans.
I wanna fuck. It's my fucking big dick. Who wants to fuck?

Dem Funnel Cakes man.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
I felt bad when the DS port of Chrono Trigger went out... After so many years the best thing Square could do was just releasing the same old game... What's with that?!
Fans have been expecting a true sequel, and this ones were so impatient that they even made their own... Now, maybe Square stopped them for some legal reasons, maybe it was planning a true sequel or maybe they just don't like the idea of people loving Chrono Trigger so much that they used the game's sprites and music to make a fan game.
I don't see the problem with fan games, it's not like they were going to sell it and make Square lose money. And being a fan game, no matter what they do with the characters, we know everything is not the official thing...
Maybe Square just wants to leave Chrono Trigger as a single masterpiece to be remembered by all of us... But I found out that some Square workers actually wanted to make a sequel, but the President said something like "We would make a lot more money with another Final Fantasy, forget about Chrono..." So, is all about the money...

That's exactly how I feel. I used to think it was because Square just wanted it to be one game and to only be remembered as that and not a shitty franchise of stupid inferior sequels. However, I've opened my eyes and realized Square could easily make a great sequel, but they want to cash in, so they just focus on their Final Fantasy series because no matter how shitty any of them are, people will still buy them. Hell, they've been porting all the old Final Fantasy games to the GBA and DS for the past 10 years.
So I'm just at the point that Square sucks and fuck them.
