You need to get adobe flash (the 30 day trial is a good start and you obviously probably aren't going to want to do any serious animating so do the 30 day trial first so you don't buy it.) If you want to make stick animation gifs from a free program here's Ugh.. Pivot. I heard of some other free animation programs but I can tell that this is what you would want.

bull shit look at some animations on pivot like pivotmaster dx hell SOME OF THE BEST SHIT IS ON PIVOT an easy flip button easy to use sprites ... i mean sure the animations not the smoothest but if you know how to use it pivots a pretty good program plus its the second best thing next to flash
