Playstation Plus Thread

Welll I'm skeptical as everyone else. But it's active. As the store updates with the items it looks promising. I'm trying it for a year since I get the 3 extra months with the bundle and we'll see how it goes. I'm not gunna pass judgement on it for quite a while as it'll takes some time to get started with all the new offers rolling in.

I'm hoping it updates plus stuff every week. They just put a ton of stuff on thats either free or discounted already and it's not even time for the store to update so who knows.

Nothings up there that I really want but I like the idea. And it doesn't give you a "THIS IS TEMPORARY" warning for any of the exclusive plus items or the discount items.

The only time it warns you of a temporary ps plus item is if it exists for purchase already and they're offering it for free if your a subcriber.

I'll put the above in bold so I don't have to repeat it.

So far the temporary items are they have 1 free ps1 game, and a bunch of free game add ons for a few puzzle games that they've discounted.

We'll call this the "official thread" (I hate that word but its seems to be the only way these thread stick). I'll update the thread every week with the ps plus item lists and my thoughts on them. Tommorow once I get my money for my subscription I'll make the first official list.

I didn't see wipeout hd last time I went there. I already bought it long time ago, plus(no pun intended) the fury expansion, but at least this means I'll have friends to play with on it now sinces its free to subscribers.

Their a little late on the infamous trial. If someone hasn't played that by now....

I might get cuboid tho with what cash i have left on the wallet and grab the free expansions.

I'm wondering if, it'll let me copy the minis to my psp if I get them for free.. Hmmm

Everyone gets a free game when they subscribe. The EU (I think) is getting LBP. It's probably something else for all the other regions. Pretty cool though. And thanks to the new firmware update you can see on your friends list who has it.

Age of Zombies is great, Destruction Derby is shit, LittleBigPlanet is shit (unless something has drastically changed since I played the beta) and I haven't tried the tower defence mini that I forget the name of yet.

Wipeout HD is amazing, but I already had that.

Europe was the only region that said they were giving away LBP. The rest either don't get anything or get LBP too :/. Once i get a PSN card i will see what the US gets.

Yeah, but it's still a dodgy platformer with stiff controls, so it doesn't matter how good you make your levels when the gameplay itself is shit.

The one thing that I hate about PlayStation Plus is that they're charging you money for automatic updates. This always seemed like a feature that should be free rather than something you would pay for. Also, the game trials should be free, since they're essentially glorified demos.

The only thing that looks interesting to me for this month is Wipeout HD. Everything else seems pretty uninteresting.

Yeah. I get the distinct feeling they just happened to finish making that feature as they were planning to release Plus, and just though "fuck it, stick it on Plus, might get a few more subscriptions".

I never had the beta but the full game's controls are anything but stiff, in my opinion anyway.
The game is great, calling it shit seems a bit unfair even if you don't like it, how can one of the best rated PS3 games be 'shit'?

But anyway, it's your choice to make, though I think you are missing out.

Custom soundtracks have been available since 2007. Hardly any developers implement them, though.

For most games, I meant. I'm not TOO worried about that. I have an iPod speaker, but what I really want is cross game chat. That's why I like the Xbox, though I chose the PS3 for it's game choices. I'm going to get PS+ undoubtedly, but I'm wondering if it's not too late to sell my old 80GB ps3 and try to work up enough money for a 360 slim...

For good reason, it's annoying! Unless they can restrict it to singleplayer use only, I hope no one ever implements it on their game.

LBP is an amazingly great game. I find the controls much more lose then they are stiff however many people miss the point of lbp err the "Play, Create, Share" gameplay. Those who have taken the time to use lbp to it's fullest potential will only be the ones to truely understand how amazingly unique and what a treat the game is. And it's not media molecule thats made the game so successful, its the players themselves. I've given up trying the convince the naysayers. Those that are, don't know how to play the game properly, and it's unfortunate.

Anyway I dunno but wipeout HD isn't available on my end... to even purchase. Luckily I already have it but that kind of sucks and makes me worried what I might not see in the future. I'm hoping it was just a fuck up on their end.

Cross Game Chat
From what I've read they're STILL looking into it. No confirmation on if it'll be playstation plus restricted. I could see it not being. Sony doesn't seem to be the kind that would abandon their non-premium customers, and use Plus as an excuse to not make quality updates for everyone.

Three Extra Months
From what I can read, the 3 extra months is what you get as a bonus first playstation plus subscription. Meaning you get it when ever it's your first yearly purchase. On your second purchase you'll just get it for the year. Kind of what most online MMO's do. First time buyers usually get a few months free the first time around.
