It's not because there is no equality, you can advocate social darwinism and 'wed' out the weak. Becasue essentially it means you have to kill the human race as a whole, cause everyone will be flawed one way or another. And the group of really perfect people within some bounds is really small.

Personally, I think equality is in fact a left wing myth, but I will concur that the privileges and restrictions people face, in particular those who are vital, should be accessable for everyone in equal ways, unless their deficit really interferes with the proper working. for instance, I agree that physical handicapt can't work certain jobs, obviously. Mentally handicapt have who have very little autonomy should be bound to a supervisor.

However, gender inequality is bull. Yes genders are different, but both men and women have proven it doesn't effect anyday life at all. Women can make fine soldiers and I can bet I can find one that could beat you into mush.

The only way equality could actually have a chance to work...is if people like you were either eliminated, or you could change your outlook.

i am totally FOR women in the military... i dont know if you have ever been in the military but i have... i would say less than 5% of the military is in the front lines while everyone supporting them works like a small nation... you have doctors, mechanics, engineers of many fields, office workers, techies, dog trainers, vets, truck drivers, police (MP's), gardeners, barbers, musicians, the list goes on forever... and a woman can do any of them, and they do.

Equality is hard to do when people willingly separate themselves with ethnic groups, one of the biggest dividers is religion, you can see this in Bosnia, countries in the Middle East etc. If you go to a diverse school you often see the students grouping together based on ethnicity sometimes with other ethnicties in there too.

Equality in what sense. Equality of biological inheritance? of Wealth? or Knowledge? Equality before the law?

The opposite of a state of affairs where you deliberately try to make people with LESS of the things described above on par with those that have more is not going ahead and killing off those people.

Dragging one group of person's down deliberately doesn't push everyone else up; whether we are talking about a Welfare state that drags down the 'rich' or a Genocidal state that tries to eliminate 'the poor' you end up wasting resources trying to achieve an unrealistic state of affairs. 'inferior persons' however you define them, will always be capable of participating in the division of labor, that is one of the benefits of an interdependent society.

Obviously there are people who are, effectively, vegetables. But if someone else has deliberately taken up the responsibility of taking care of them, and they're not taking your money by force to do it, why should you care. Claiming it's a waste of resources is all well and good, but anyone can make that claim about any personal hobby that you have, if you're a mountain climber, the same person who is taking care of the vegetable can tell you that your 'hobby' is wasting society's resources.

This reminds me of the short story "Harrison Bergeron" where everyone being equal was the worst thing you could imagine. This is, however, a different story as it is talking about criminals. The bottom line is, criminals do not have rights or at least not as much as free people which is why they are considered criminals. Equality is protection of minorities and the ability to allow any person to do anything that is guaranteed by the law's rights.
