Me and my girlfriend broke up

So my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years and I broke up earlier today because she felt that we were growing apart. This is mainly due to the fact that we go to different colleges. I tried visiting her as often as I could (Her college is about 2 1/2 hours from my house, I commute to my college), but I guess it just wasn't enough.

So yea, a few weeks ago when she first got back from college and we started hanging out on a daily basis she kept talking about how our relationship felt weird to her. We had a few talks about it, and we figured it might be because we weren't accustomed to seeing each other this often because we only got to see each other on the weekends during college.

So for a few weeks, we have been trying to make the relationship work, but there was definitely an awkwardness between us. She no longer slept over my house, and we started to hang out less and less until we finally mutually broke-up today.

I still loved her a lot, but I wouldn't make her stay with me if she didn't want to. I feel pretty awful right now though, This is definitely going to ruin my summer. Not only did I lose my girlfriend, but only a few of my friends even want to hang out with me anymore. Me and my girlfriend pretty much had the same ring of friends, but I don't see what is so bad about talking to me since we had a mutual break-up. At least now I know who my real friends are.

Seriously? why do people try long distance relationships, its awful. Ive only known of one couple who does it, and its literally the perfect situtation. The girl is as nice as she is rich, and shes fucking loaded, she would never cheat, and the guy is willing to go without sex for almost a month at a time just to stay with her, because he knows if he cheats and gets caught he will lose his millions of dollars lol. and i guess hes in love too.
