I want her to adopt a different name at this point. Something with diamond or carbon in it preferably, but I'm not married to the idea.
Any suggestions?
Possibly Catalyst? It has to do with things being absorbed into a larger thing and chemical reactions if I'm not mistaken. Or If you do want something Carbon/Diamond related I'm sure someone could get something pretty good for that.
The Metal Splicer?
Diamond Skin?
or if all else fails, Thunder Cunt?
Hey, i've seen that around quite a bit. It's not an uncommon baby name...

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
I'm kind of looking for something a young adult girl would think of. A girl who is a big bookworm and not foreign to comic book heroes.
Elementalist
Chemist
Chemical Ali?
There isn't really much you can do with the periodic table for a girl's name...

it is if you translate it in russian
Industrial revolution is an girls name in Russian
This is where you have to do your job as a writer. If you know your character, or take a moment to get to know her better, you'll be able to figure this out. If all else fails, ask the girls you know of the same age group (or not) what would be their opinion (aka research).
Carbon Cara?
Diamond Daisy? (My favourite :P)
Metal Melanie?
Elemental Ellie?
Signature? What signature?
Also, any games I plan to make may or may not become vaporware. I'm not good with organizing my life...

I really like the name Elementalist, it's kinda catchy. And working the word chemical into a name seems like it might work too. Thanks.

I have been working a lot on the continuity of this story, and I have a few names already figured out, but this one just caught me for a loop. And there are both men and women on the writing forum, and a lot of bookworms, so I figured it's as good a place as any.
Thanks, guys. As always, a big help.

Thanks. I'm trying to add elements of hard scifi in this story, aka, I'm trying to be detailed and accurate. It's kinda like x men, except the cause of the mutation isn't a cop out like the mutant gene.
At the time when she is first introduced, the hardest she can will to move once on her cells is silver. She adopts the name Silver Dollar, taken from the coin she wears inside her glove (because she actually needs to be touching the element she turns into).
Silver Dollar. Haha, I was proud of how cool that sounded when I thought of it. The girls almost never get the cool names. :)
I had this problem also at one point www.babynames.com

Not the same problem....
Although I have used sites like that for characters actual names before.
That's how I was able to come up with names like Jettah Caretaker, and Luci Yellowfield.
The first thing I think you need to do is cruise over to Marvel and DC's sites, or do a fast google search of super heroes.
I say this because there are TONS and TONS of super heroes split between just Marvel and DC alone, and smaller companies have bought and revived heroes from other companies. Why do you care? Copyright and trademark old son! You have to be careful that your character isn't too similar or worse, looks completely derivative of something already out there and trademarked.
I believe one or two of the names suggested here (Catalyst popped out) actually are the names of current heroes or villians (pretty sure DC has a Catalyst, but they may have killed the character off over the years). When dealing with material like this, naming can be tricky because you don't want to wind up with a cease and desist or confusion because you picked a name that's already in use by another character.

That whole thing is probably good advice. Thanks.

Well I'm almost sixteen and kind of a bookworm...so, what about Hematite? Or Vivianite, can be shortened into Vivi and both of them are elements (sort of)...maybe Galena?

Well, I like Galena and Hematite, but the hardness of the actual minerals is a problem, as she only changes her name when she works her way up to diamonds. And, vivianite is actually softer than silver.
But the names themselves sound pretty cool. Thank you.
