Do you guys want to donate money to get chat done? I actually have been considering the option of having donation categories as part of the store.

For example if a specific community (such as the Audio Portal, which could really use a dedicated programmer) is able to raise enough money on an annual basis, they could fund a full-time employee to work on their part of the site.

There are other areas where people could help too. For example we're looking into solar panels on the roof of the building. I have no idea what the quote will be for the cost... But let's say it will cost $100,000. The government grant pays 30%, which leaves us paying for $70,000. Theoretically the expense would be paid back after 6 years of energy-savings and NG would be more financially stable long-term as a result so it could be worth the investment either way... but it would be kinda neat if 2000 people each chipped in $35, and got some "NG Green Initiative Stage 1" badge that shows they were part of it, and NG didn't have to incur a short-term expense which cuts into the present budget for other things.

DO THIS! If you guys at Ng want to make a sweet newgrounds/youtube video explaining some of these ideas and encouraging people to donate, I'll donate my time to make sweet background music.

These are FANTASTIC ideas, and I would be more than willing to handle the audio of these videos. I could compress the vocals, make everything sound awesome and proffessional, and create some inspirational music.

It sounds like a great idea all around.
i dont know why you guys hadnt brought these ideas up earlier.
Have like a "Current Endeavors" update, much like you do with the news posts,
but for things you guys are currently trying to finance and all that.
and THEN
incorperate the idea that has already been brought up,
about the ad rev sharing,
so that way everyone could chip in some way.
and money wouldnt be such a big issue.

Pretty close if you ask me. I meant a Syd from the early 80's.

Jeez - if you create a gif "badge" on people's profiles for donating money, you will be drowning in little kids' allowances.

Just make sure you allow people to donate via paypal - not many 12 year olds have credit cards.

chances of getting 2000 people to say they will: 100%
chances of getting 2000 people to actually pay: 0%

If I donated enough to get a signed copy of the DVD, but I live in the UK, would I get contacted about payment for postage overseas? I'm cool with paying it, but don't want people to find out I live over the pond then think it's too much hassle to send it.

I think I'd go the other way: specifically don't do paypal, so as not to rob the 12 year olds of money they should be spending on being happy children with cool toys. Let the adults, who on average have more ability to be responsible with their money, worry about donating to websites.

That or allow users to buy experience or stuff with paypal...

Just take example on Blizzard and sell completely useless crap for 10$+ and people WILL buy it.

I got nailed in the side by a SUV at a four way stop this afternoon. Cars gone for the most part, luckily I just have a few cuts bruises and a really fucked up left thumb from where the front end airbags deployed for some reason. Anyways, I'm sorry I can't donate to this cause. Next time guys.
