Funny how you had a misconception of irony originally, but when I posted the definition, it took a complete 180

in response to your original criticism, who's going to be offended by a stranger calling their beliefs 'gay' on the internet? seems like no-one else has complained.

The problem is that not everyone is as well-versed in the anonymity and assholeishness of the internet, and bashing other peoples belief for no reason is just a waste. What are you doing by purposely trying to hurt people?

God created/designed us as we are, in Its image. Playing around with our own designs is probably not in Its plan. It would be one thing if we just cured a few diseases, or allowed infertile individuals to breed. But if we created an enhanced version of ourselves the way scientists in the first Pokémon movie created an enhanced Mew, it would be presuming we know more than God, and what Mewtwo was trying to do would pale in comparison to what God would do.

Or not: It's more interested now in watching our own presumptions and stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time blow up in our faces than in wiping most of humanity save for the last good man and his family off the earth with a flood. If we played God, it would be our downfall and God wouldn't lift a metaphorical finger to help. Think of it: say we created a group of "perfect" humans. Wiped out all physical and mental weaknesses, maybe even enhanced their physical and mental capabilities, made them look way better than any non-modified human. You've probably heard enough stories to know what comes next: the perfect man realizes that it is more than we will ever be. Nicer versions have them seek to become our leaders in an attempt to protect their creators from the inherent flaws (mostly stupidity) of normal humans, but this ends up in us normal humans becoming slaves to the perfect ones. Darker versions involve the supermen taking over the world and committing genocide against the non-enhanced. And it would only be a matter of time before said superhumans became either well-intentioned conquerors or genocidal maniacs, a question of "when" rather than "if": we "average" humans have done it before enough, the difference being that when we did it, our eventual opponents were on our own level. Even if the genocidal traits were eliminated, there would be nothing preventing them from being conquerors and masters to the non-enhanced, in the name of peace.

please point out my original misconception

you post "you should have been aborted" for my insulting a Christian book

i post "i don't believe in abortion" under the impression it's ironic

i'll explain how i think it's ironic

the belief that abortion is wrong is widely regarded as a belief of particular Christians - i'm sure you are aware of this and are just being pedantic, but otherwise google 'abortion christianity' or something of the sort.

so i've insulted Christianity, then stated that i have a belief very widely associated with Christianity

clear irony

The problem is that not everyone is as well-versed in the anonymity and assholeishness of the internet, and bashing other peoples belief for no reason is just a waste. What are you doing by purposely trying to hurt people?

well, if someone had responded hurt maybe i would have addressed that, nobody has, so i can only assume nobody was offended. it wasn't the intention. i would explain what the original intent of the post was - but unfortunately it involves using a term you would then challenge my understanding of.

were you offended?

Humans have been playing God ever since fire was discovered and used to our benefit. If anyone challenges you by saying that people shouldn't play God tell them to renounce all of their material possessions or their just as guilty as the people who produced them.

Not only do I not know what's going on, I wouldn't know what to do about it if I did.

I personally wouldn't play god because I wouldn't want to take a huge responsibility like that.

I think God wouldn't want us to play god because we'd fuck up somehow and make some life form that would kill/eat us. I mean have you ever seen The Terminator or any monster movie?
