I just moved back to Dubai after a month or so lodging with carious friends in the UK. I've been on a few holidays to Dubai and I moved there last December. I have slightly mixed opinions about the place.

Has anyone from NG been to Dubai on holiday or have any experience themselves?
What do you think about the place?
Have you even heard of it?

I hadn't really heard of it to be honest until my mum moved here but i'm not sure how I hadn't before, given the amount of bizarre stuff that goes on here.

Actually, the "government" keeps the various terrorist organisations fairly well bribed. Furthermore, Dubai is an Islamic state. I think that a terrorist attack would be fairly unlikely.

Yeah, I tried to address that and matters such as affection in public with 'conservative arabs'. Quite backward, especially considering they will be relying on tourism for money after building these extravagent structures.

Bullshit!!! It's the Empire State Building I thought!!!!!

The Burj Khalifa is amazing looking, in my opinion. It's almost double the height of the World Trade Center Towers. That's unthinkably massive.

If planes fly into the Burj it'd probably snap like a pencil.

Indeed, but as previously stated, I think that it would be unlikely to suffer a terrorist attack. However, if terrorists were to attack, it would no doubt be the biggest target.

Such great wonders, yet such a huge waste of money. Really, it's a beautiful city, but there's no denying that the money they wasted to make the city look good could be spent on more productive things.
