Trifecta

The sun rose from the east up looming large over the mountain range. The sunlight crept in through the pink curtains, their rays shining on a bed with a large lump in the middle of it. Suddenly, an alarm clock went off filling the air with rock music. The sheets flew up and forward as a girl sat up with a bolt, slamming her fist into the alarm clock to stop it. She rolled back onto the bed, stretching and yawning. She rose up out of bed and walked over to the bathroom, walked in and closed the door. After over an hour later, she re-entered the bedroom, her reddish brown hair still wet and she had a pearl white bath towel wrapped around her body. She walked over to her closet and pulled various pieces of clothing off hangers and laying them across the unmade bed. She towel dried her long locks of hair, quickly pulling it all back into a pony tail at the back of her head. She tied it together with a hair wrap that had seashells hanging from it. She walked across the room and pulled a pair of slim washed out blue jeans on over her thin pale legs. She then pulled a green shirt with a picture of a dream catcher being held by an Indian on the back of it over her head and straightened the collar. Then, she placed a gold, shiny necklace around her neck and smiled as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She glanced over at the clock and was shocked to see what time it already was.

"Crap I'm late" she yelled, as she raced down stairs. She quickly pulled on a pair of white sneakers and grabbed her bag while racing out the door. She ran down the street towards a large school where more people were filing into the front doors a lot like ants towards their ant hill. She ran into the buildings court yard just as she heard the last bell rang out. It echoed throughout the town. She breathed a sigh of relief as two girls walked over to her.

"Hey Serenity, you cut it pretty close today" one of them said as she smiled at her friend. Her golden blonde hair reached down to her back, her black pants fit snuggly to her thin legs and she wore a pink shirt with a picture of a kitten on it.

"You should wake up earlier so you don't have to rush to school every day" the second girl said. Her black hair was covering the left part of her face and reached the top of her shoulders. Her clothes looked more like a school uniform than everyday clothing. The shirt and skirt colors looked like a matched pair. With the exception of paper clips holding the bottom hem of the skirt together.

"Huh?, Oh yeah. I know I'm cutting it close today Trixy" she said the blonde haired girl who was walking to her left. Then she addressed the girl with the black hair and uniform clothes,

"I don't really need to wake up early Cassie", "I just need to... oh, alright so I woke up late, I'm not perfect, I just need more sleep than other people" Serenity said as the two girls laughed at her attempts at excuses.

"Looks like today's mood is grumpy, right?" Trixy said in a mocking tone of child like banter.

"Come on Trixy, this is high school. You need to stop talking like you are 5 years old, that voice is annoying and people will think you are acting like you are still in kindergarten" Cassie said as the late bell rang loudly throughout the hallways.

"Holy crap we're late" Trixy said as she ran off towards her locker at the other end of the hallway.

"We'll see you in homeroom Serenity" Cassie said as the two girls went into the next doorway. Cassie and Trixy were not only friends but sisters, Twins to be exact. But you would not know that by looking at them, they looked nothing alike. As Serenity walked into homeroom and sat down behind Cassie, the desk behind her was empty. In the desk next to her sat Trixy. The teacher walked in and stood behind her desk. Her desk was set in the front right corner of the class. Her shockingly pink hair was set in a pony tail. She wore a long gray dress that almost touched the floor. Her brown button down shirt made her look like she was from the middle ages.

"Alright class, before we begin, we have a new student coming to room D-9. Please make him feel welcome" the teacher said smiling.

"A new student? I didn't hear anything about any new student." One of girls standing on the other side of Trixy said. Serenity just sighed and rolled her eyes as said,

"Sit down Trish, just because you're the class president doesn't mean you need to know everything"
Before Trish had a chance to respond to Serenity, the door to the class opened and a student walked into the class. He was wearing a pair of black Nike shoes and his black pants with red chains matched his black T-shirt that had a burning skull in the middle of it. His grayish hair was covered by a black hat. His right arm had a tattoo of barbed wire on it and his left arm had an angel holding a sword on it. His hands where submerged deep in his pockets as he walked over and stood next to the teacher. He looked around the room at the students in the classroom, his dark brown eyes scanning each student .
"Class, this is our new Student, Rex Darkheart and I would appreciate it if you could please make him feel welcome" the teacher said. Rex said nothing. Before the teacher could even tell him where he was going to sit, he walked over to the only empty seat in the class, pushed the chair back with his Nike clad feet and sat down.

"Now then, we'll start off where we left off on Friday." The teacher said. As she turned around to start writing notes on the blackboard, the boy sitting in the desk right next to Rex leaned over to introduce himself.

"So you're the new student huh, Names Zack, nice to meet you" Zack said as he extended his hand. Rex didn't even look at Zack. He totally ignored him. He just sat at his desk drawing on a piece of paper. Zack looked at Rex , then at the girls and just shook his head, and began writing down the notes that the teacher had been writing on the board. While the rest of the class was taking notes and listening to the teacher, Rex was drawing looked like someone was standing in the middle of a lightning bolt. He was not paying any attention to the lesson or the class. He was busy drawing and watching someone who had been staring and watching him from the courtyard outside the classroom. Rex just smiled as a small spark of lightening appeared around his right hand.

Chapter Two

After the teacher had given notes and completed her lesson she let the class talk. She had been called down to the dean's office. While she was gone, Cassie, and Trixy joined Serenity's at her desk.

"Who knew we were getting a new student?" Trixy asked. Serenity looked behind her to introduce herself to the new student. However, when she turned around to speak to him, she stopped cold. This new student was sitting with his feet on his desk, his hands were folded across his chest, and his black hat was pulled down over his face. It was apparent that he was sleeping. So, Serenity turned back around in her seat and proceeded to continue to talk with her friends.

"Too bad, he is sleeping", Cassie said to Serenity.

"What do you mean?" Trixy asked looking at her sister.

"He's kind of cute don't you think?" Cassie said smiling at grinning at Serenity. Overhearing their conversation, Zack spoke up and said, "You have a better chance of having a consecration with a rock Cassie, Rex hasn't talked to anyone; he didn't even say anything to me when I introduced myself to him". Zack continued to play cards with the other boy sitting next to him. Zack's spicy red hair stood sticking out from his head like pillars, his gray shirt and ripped blue jeans made him look like a rock star want to be.

"Maybe he just shy. Give him a break Zack, after all it is his first day" Cassie said.

"First day or not it's time for him to introduce himself and be sociable" Trish said as she walked over to Rex. She poked him on his shoulder and said,

"Hey, nice to meet you". She waited for him to wake up and acknowledge her. He continued to sit there and not move. So Trish continued to poke him to get him to answer her. After trying to get him to answer her and ten or eleven pokes on his shoulder, Trish began to get mad. She started to raise her voice and she smacked him right across the chest yelling, "Damn it...don't ignore me, Wake up" . Rex's right hand slowly moved up to his face as he lifted his hat and looked at her.

"Good you're up, now let me introduce myself", Trish started to say,

"I'm the class president and I ..." Rex looked up at her interrupting her in mid sentence said, "I don't care who you are, now leave me alone" Rex quietly placed his hat back over his face and folded his arms across his chest again. Serenity chuckled to herself as she said to Trish,

"He put you in your place Trish" Trixy and Cassie laughed at this turn of events and were quite amused at the seen of events taking place.

"I told you" Zack said, "He's not going to talk to anyone." I wouldn't be surprised if he even knows anything" Zack said. Trish was so mad that Rex had blown her off , she grabbed Rex's hat and yanked it off his face. She began yelling and waving his hat in the air as she yelled,

"Look, I know your new here, but let me tell you how things work around here." She continued, "I am the class president. What that means is that all the students in this class are supposed to respect and me and listen to what I have to say, got it!"

"Damn, I have never seen Trish this upset and mad" Serenity said with a smile as she continued to watch Trish and Rex. Meanwhile, Rex opened his right eye, looking up at Trish and said with sarcasm,

"Do you mind giving me my hat back Miss. President?"

"That's more like it" Trish said, "but you can just call me Trish." Trish continued speaking to Rex,

"Now, would you like to tell use were you transfused from?" as she gave him his hat back

"No" Rex said as he put his hat back over his face, crossed him arms again and tried to go back to sleep.

"I told you he's not going to talk" Zack said. Meanwhile, Cassie got up and walked over to Rex.

"My name's Cassie" she said. " Don't worry about Trish, she just likes to think that due to her position she had the power to tell us all how we should act and what we should do" Cassie said smiling.

"Hey!" Trish said as she sat back down in her chair, "I do not, if I didn't keep you guys in line, this class would be out of control"
Rex looked up at Cassie, smiling. He sat up, lifting his hat off his face and placing it back on his head speaking to her as he did, "I know what you mean, some people think they can use their position, title and power to control people around them"

"What? Hey! I'm doing do anything like that!" Trish yelled.

"Calm down Trish, he's new. Remember?" Serenity said smiling. She had never seen someone get under Trish's skin like Rex did and she loved every minute of this.

"So Rex, were do you live?" Trixy asked.

"I live over in the Cashwood Apartments" Rex said.

"Really, that's where I live" Serenity spoke up. What apartment number?" Serenity asked.

"I moved into apartment 209" Rex answered.

"Wow, your only three doors down from where I live!" Serenity said.

"I drive" Rex said as he motioned towards the parking lot. Serenity, Cassie and Trixy all looked out the window towards the parking lot.

"Which car is yours?" Trixy asked as the three tried to figure out which car could be his before he could answer.

"I don't drive a car" Rex said as he looked out the window. Just then, the teacher walked back into the class and everyone scattered to and took their seats. The day went on like every other school day. At the end of the day Trixy, Serenity, and Cassie walked out of the school together and were happy to be heading towards home.

"Finally this day is over" Cassie said smiling.

"Hey, let's go to that new karaoke place over in the plaza next to Radio Shack" Trixy said smiling.

"You love Karaoke don't you" Cassie said as she laughed.

"You'll have to go without me, I have something to take care of at home" Serenity said she walked away from the two and headed home. As she walked down the hall towards her apartment, she passed apartment 209. She thought about knocking and welcoming Rex to the apartments, but she decided to just go down the hall to her apartment. She unlocked the door and placed her keys inside a glass bowl that sitting right next to the door. As she closed the door her cat ran up to her rubbing against her ankles and meowing her greeting of hello. She walked over to her desk and turned on the light and sat down. She went into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of milk and grabbed some cupcakes out of the pantry cupboard. She walked back into the living room. She took her books out of her book bag and started her homework. She had to head out to work in a little while and she wanted to get it done. While she was working she glanced out her window to see a large lightning bolt slam to the ground were the city park was.

Chapter Three

The next morning Serenity, Trixy, and Cassie where standing in the schools courtyard. There was a buzz in the air. Everyone was talking about the events of the night before.

"Can you believe how many times the lightning hit" Cassie said.

"No kidding, I thought lightning doesn't hit the same place twice but it hit like nine times in the same place, sometimes it looked like something was controlling the lightning" Trixy said. Serenity yawned as he listened to her friends.

"Long night?" Trixy asked.

"Yeah, working at the Cat Ears Café is taking a lot out of me" Serenity said as she yawned again.

"Oh yeah" Cassie said, "I almost forgot, look what I found at the book store yesterday" Cassie said. She reached into her book bag and pulled out a book. It had reddish green cover and had the work Trifecta etched in shiny gold across the top of it.

"What in god's name is that Cassie" Serenity asked her. "Is it another one of your book finds that has fake studies that say they are real?" Serenity asked.

"Hell no, this book is about the Trifecta system" Cassie said.

"Trifecta System?" both Trixy and Serenity asked at the same time. "What is that about?" Cassie continued to explain to the two of them,

"It's a really cool theory that says that there is actually three of each person on this planet. There are the Humans, the Doppelgangers, and then the Serge Guardians. It says that each human has a Doppelganger and Serge Guardian that looks just like them. It also says that the Doppelganger and Serge Guardian may only be copies of the human; however, their personality and how they wear their cloths are different. But they're still like their human version" Cassie said.

"Hold up" Trixy said, "You lost me, so what you're saying is, that there are two other people that look just like me in this world?" Trixy asked. Serenity spoke up and said, "I highly doubt it, this book is just somebody's idea of what they think is true. It can't be real" Cassie quickly spoke up,
"No it is real!" "It says that the Doppelganger is an exact copy of its human form. Although it may dress differently, it still has facial and personal similarities to its human counterpart. A Serge Guardian is given one elemental power along with the ability to have tremendous speed and strength. If a human ever meets their Doppelganger, the human will either absorb the Doppelgangers energy or the human will be killed by an unexpected accident or illness. If a human sees its Serge Guardian both will die but the Doppelganger lives. If the Doppelganger sees the Serge Guardian the Doppelganger will be absorbed by the Serge Guardian. Therefore a human, their Doppelganger, and their Serge Guardian must never meet" Cassie went on to explain. Serenity was the next to speak up, "Okay Cassie, I think that you should know how stupid that whole thing just sounded. There's no way someone has two other counterparts in this world, That book and its ideas, sound more like a fairy tale or anime movie"

All of a sudden, the three heard a large motor zooming by as a man riding a motorcycle skidded into the schools parking lot and stopped in a parking space. The man's wild entrance had everyone watching him as he put down his kick stand and shut off the motorcycle. He took off his helmet and placed it on one of the handle bars. He got off the bike and lifted up the seat and took out a black hat. As he turned around everyone watching realized it was the new kid, Rex. He put his hat on and turned and looked around. Everyone was staring at him, yet he paid no attention to them. He placed his hands in his pockets and walked towards the entrance of the school.

"Oh wow, he wasn't kidding when he said he didn't drive a car" Cassie said.
Serenity spoke up next, "He's just showing off, like all guys do. Come on let's get to class before we're late." The three walked into the school as the first bell began to ring. As the three walked into the classroom, Cassie noticed that Zack was looking very pale.

"You alright Zack?" Cassie asked.

"I'm not sure, I don't know if I'm going crazy or not. Yesterday I thought I saw someone who looked just like me." When he walked away from me, I watched as he was hit by a car and died" Zack said.
Rex was sitting in the classroom, as he always did. With his feet on the desk and his hat over his face. He wasn't sleeping though, when he heard what Zack had said she lifted his hat and put it on his head, saying, "The Trifecta System". Cassie's looked at Rex with absolute shock on her face.

"You know about it too?" Cassie asked.

"Of course I do", Rex said. "It's real and it works". Rex continued, "Zack is just lucky that his soul energy was greater than his Doppelganger's soul energy" Rex said.

"Soul energy" Cassie said as she opened the book and flipped through the pages looking for an explanation of what Rex had just said.

"Yeah, here it is" Cassie said as she continued to read, "The system works through a person's soul energy, or their will to live" Zack spoke up "So I have a stronger will to live than my look alike did?"

"Not quite, you see soul energy is basically the energy your soul creates or Soul Drive as people like to call it." Rex said.

"I can't believe you actually believe in that kind of stuff" Serenity said. Just then, the teacher walked into the class room and asked everyone to take out their homework and notes. Even though Serenity had said that to Rex, she could not help but wonder if there might be some truth to it... But how? How could a person know if they were a human or a Doppelganger? Serenity turned to taking notes from the blackboard, but was still wondering about the subject her; Cassie and Rex had been talking about.

Chapter four

After the school day ended Serenity walked back to her apartment when Rex passed by on his motorcycle. He didn't even notice her as he passed by. When she reached the apartment complex she saw Rex's Motorcycle sitting in the parking lot. She walked up the stairs and headed towards her apartment. She unlocked the door and placed the keys in the bowl then closed the door. She quickly got changed and left the apartment and walked back down stairs. She saw Rex getting on his motorcycle and walked over to him.

"Hay...Rex, do you mind giving me a ride to my job, I have to be there in a few minutes and I don't think I can make it on foot" She asked him. Rex looked at her through the helmets visor and nodded. She got on the motorcycle and got ready for what she thought would be an endless ride from hell, but when Rex took off she felt like she was flying. It was like nothing she had ever felt, it was cut short when Rex stopped at a stop light.

"Were is your job" Rex finally asked. With the whole feeling of flying she totally forgot to tell him where she worked.

"Cat Ears Café" she said.

"Interesting" Rex answered as he waited for the light to turn green; when it did he took a left and drove towards the café. He stopped in front of the café. Serenity got off the motorcycle and ran inside. Her boss meet her as she ran in.

"am I late" she asked.

"Not at all, you're actually a little early, and I see you've already met the new cook" her boss said. She looked back outside the glass windows and saw that Rex had taken off his helmet and put his black hat back on and walked inside.

"You serous....he's working here" Serenity asked him. Her boss nodded as Rex walked inside the café.

"Welcome Mr. Darkheart, I'm glad I finally have a chance to meet with you, you already know Serenity, let me introduce you to the rest of the crew" the boss said as he showed Rex the rest of the café and where he would be working. Serenity walked over to another waitress.

"when did we need to get a new cook" she asked her.

"I'm not sure, but maybe he'll be better than the last one" the waitress greeted two customers who walked into the café.

"As you already know by now this café is a cosplay café, but since you'll be I the kitchen you'll be fine just wearing your normal cloths. By the way, you can call me Ken. If you need anything just ask me or anyone of our Waitress's" Ken said as he showed Rex the kitchen.

"So, am I able to bring in a radio to listen to" Rex asked as he examined the kitchen.

"Yes, you're able to listen to music, but I have to ask you keep it down so you don't disturb the customers" Ken said.

"Anyone who comes here to eat is already disturbed" Rex mumbled under his Breathe.

"What was that" Ken asked.

"I wanted to know when I can start" Rex said smiling a fake smile.

"Well, can you start today, I know its short notice, but our old cook left for America a few days ago, so I'll leave the recipes in here so you know how to make the orders and I'll start you at 10.75" Ken said.

"Alright, you got a deal" Rex said. The two shock hands and Rex put on an apron and kept his hat on and looked over the recipes. The first orders started to come in rather quickie, after a while he got the hang of it and started sending out orders like he had worked there for years. After three hours the café started to slow down and after a while it was empty. The waitress's sat in a booth talking while Rex stayed in the kitchen. He took out a cigarette and lit the tip of it, the white smoke filled his lungs and he blew it back out with a sigh. He had the radio that Ken gave him until he could bring his own on. The hard rock blaring out of the speakers echoed in the kitchen. Serenity walked in and smiled.

"I didn't know you were going to work here" She said smiling.

"A guy needs to pay the bills, besides. I don't mind this place, it feels like a family" Rex said smiling.

"Yea....this place is like a second family, hay you said that everyone has something called soul energy that determines if you live or die when you see your doppelganger, how could someone live if they have low soul energy and see their doppelganger" Serenity asked.

"I thought you didn't believe in the Trifecta System" Rex asked as he sucked in more of the white smoke from the cigarette.

"I don't, but there has to be a loop hole that saves people" serenity said.

"There is actually, you know that there are Serge Guardians. Well if you make a pact with one of the Serge Guardians then you and the Serge Guardian's soul energy are combined, but this action can also be done by a doppelganger" Rex said.

"What happens when a human with a Serge Guardian pack meets a doppelganger with a pact with a Serge Guardian" Serenity asked.

"Easy, the two Serge Guardians fight until one dies, this is why a Serge Guardian can't make a pact with another Serge Guardian" Rex said.

"What happens when a Serge Guardian with a pact dies" she asked him fearing what the answer would be. Rex smiled

"If the human or doppelganger that made the pact dies, the Serge Guardian dies, but if the Serge Guardian dies, the human or doppelganger can find another Serge Guardian and make another pact, but a human or doppelganger can only have one pact partner, if they try to make another pact while they're in a pact, the human or doppelganger...will die" Rex said.

"How do you know so much about the Trifecta System" Serenity asked. Rex just shrugged

"I read a lot" Rex said. Ken walked into the kitchen and sighed.
"Alright you two, we're closing the café, no one ever comes in at nine, so you two can go home" Ken said as he walked out. Rex took of the apron and smiled.

"Need a ride home" Rex asked. Serenity shock her head

"No, I like walking home at night" she said as she walked out of the kitchen.
As she walked home she saw Rex drive pasted her on his motorcycle. She waved as he drove off. Unknown to her, she was being followed.

Chapter Five

As Serenity walked home she kept looking over her shoulder thinking something or someone was following her.

"Get it together Serenity, No one's following, it all in your head" Serenity said as she took a deep breath and continued waking. She ignored the feeling of someone following her and started humming.

"You know, little girls like yourself shouldn't be walking down these streets alone in the dark, there's all kinds of people that could do you harm" a voice said. Serenity stopped in her tracks and stopped humming, she turned around to watch a man flout down to the ground. He was smiling, only his smile didn't bring happiness to Serenity, she felt a deep fear. She turned around and was about to run when her eyes widened. There were three people standing in her way, she had no way of escaping.

"I wonder what possesses someone to walk these streets by themselves, or for that matter. Why they would wear a skirt that low" the man said.

"I...I'm just walking home and don't want any trouble" Serenity managed to say. Her fear started making her imagine what the group would or will do to her is she couldn't get away.

"Did you hear that boys, she doesn't want any trouble" the man said as he laughed. He walked over to Serenity and placed his hand on her shoulder.

"If you do what I tell you, you'll live to see the next sun rise" the man said smiling.

"Now is that any way to ask out a lady that you just meet" a voice said. The group looked over at a brick wall where Rex was leaning up against; he was smiling with a lit cigarette in his mouth.

"Don't be a hero boy, do you know who we are" the man said as he let go of Serenity.

"I know who you are" Rex said as he moved away from the wall.

"You're a bunch of Serge Guardian's that need to be put in their places" Rex said smiling. Serenity could believe it, the group were Serge Guardian's.

"So what, a stupid human kid like yourself couldn't take us even if you tried" the man said laughing. While the man was laughing Rex appeared in front of him, his right hand over the man's face. The man's eyes widened as Rex smiled.

"I'm not a kid or a human, I'm the Serge Guardian of lightning" Rex said as a small spark of lightning appeared around his right hand. The man suddenly shot across the street and slammed into a parked Truck, the man had hit the truck so hard the truck's side were the man hit was heavily damaged. Rex smiled as he looked at the group that was with the man. The three members were in shock as they watched the events unfold. Rex lifted his right hand and snapped his fingers. A large thunder bolt hit the man that was slammed into the truck and the truck exploded. Rex smiled

"Who's next" Rex said smiling. The group looked at him then ran off. Serenity was just standing there, she was in shock and disbelief at what just happened. She suddenly collapsed. She opened her eyes to see the ceiling fan spin around. She sat up and looked around; she was back in her apartment.

"Geez, what a hell of a dream. Stupid Cassie, she had to fill my head with the stupid Trifecta crap" Serenity said as she sighed.

"Your finally awake, took you long enough to come to" Rex said as he leaned against the wall across from Serenity's bed. His eyes were closed. He opened them and looked at her.

"So...it wasn't" she said as she looked at him

"Nope" Rex answered.

"Then you're a" Serenity asked.

"Pretty much" Rex said as he walked over to the front door.

"Wait" Serenity said as she got up.

"I suggest you stay in bed, you hit your head pretty hard...also I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone in our class what I am, the less people who know what I am the better" Rex said as he left the apartment and walked over to his own. The next morning Serenity was with her friends but her mind was else were. She was playing and replaying the events that took place last night.

"Serenity, hello, Are you even listening" Cassie said as she waved her hand in front of Serenity's face.

"Huh, oh, sorry Cassie. It was a late night for me" Serenity said as she snapped out of her train of thought.

"Anyway, did you guys hear about what happened to the principles truck last night?" Cassie said. Serenity remembered that Rex had blasted the man that tried to take her into a truck; she thought it might have been a different truck.

"Yea, they said that someone planted a bomb to it and made it explode" Trixy said. Serenity just smiled as she remembered the truck exploding from the thunder bolt. As they talked Serenity noticed Rex driving into the parking lot. He didn't wildly spin into the parking lot or into a parking space; he just drove up and put his kick stand up. He took the helmet off and pulled the seat up and took his hat from the compartment under the seat. He said noting to Serenity or the other two as he walked pasted and entered the school.

"Geez, Rex looks Wreaked today, maybe he drank a little bit too much" Cassie said. Serenity knew the reason why Rex looked so bad this morning. She had no idea what she had gotten herself into, but she soon walked away from the two and walked into the class room were Rex was sitting as usual. She walked over to him and stood next to him.

"What?" Rex said without lifting his hat to look at her.

"I was wondering, how dose someone enter into a pact with a Serge Guardian" She asked him.

Chapter Six

Rex lifted his hat and stared at her.

"What brought you to ask me this was it because of what happened last night" Rex asked. She tried not to look at him in the eyes but somthing in his eyes remained her of watching the beauty of lightning as it danced in the sky.

"That was part of it, but the other part is the fact that if I see my other half. My doppelganger, I don't want to die because my soul energy is lower than my doppelganger" She said.

"You're worried about dying from your doppelganger, well don't be. You can die from your doppelganger because you don't have one" Rex said. She looked at him like he was crazy. Everything he told her, everything that was in the book said that everyone had a doppelganger.

"You're laying, I do have a doppelganger, all humans have them" Serenity said. Rex sighed as he stood up.

"Alright, since you want to make a pact so badly and you not going to leave me alone until you get what you want. Now close your eyes" Rex said. Serenity was a little hesitant but she soon closed her eyes. Rex held his hand in front of her body and sighed.

"King's of the elements, this being wishes to seek an audience with you, she wishes to make a pact with one of your servants, King of lightning, hear me. Let this woman seek your presents and let her become one with my soul energy" Rex said. Suddenly Serenity felt like lightning was coursing through her body, it didn't hurt, it felt like someone was embracing her, warning her from the cold. She opened her eyes and could believe what she was seeing. She was standing in front of a massive door its golden frame shined as blue lightning bolts were carved into the door. The door opened as a man in a greenish black robe walked out and looked at Serenity, she could speak, or even move. Her body was frozen, but not in fear. She felt like who ever this man was, he was controlling her body.

"Your pact has been answered by the king of lighting, he asks that you look over his servant, you are now one with him" the man said. Suddenly everything went black. She opened her eyes to find she was still standing in the class room; Rex was sitting in his desk like he always did. Her right hand felt like it was on fire, when she looked down she saw that there was a symbol of a golden tiger laminating on the back of her right hand.

"What is that" She asked as the symbol disappeared.

"It's the symbol of the lightning king, whenever you invoke the pact, that symbol will appeared on our right hand and mine, but you only invoke the pact when I tell you, you get me" Rex said.

"Why only when you say, should it been whenever you need power or when your life is threatened" Serenity asked.

"I'll tell you when you use that pact, got me" Rex said. His voice sounded like he was getting angry each time she asked why she couldn't use the pact when she felt she needed to. Before she could argue with his the rest of the class piled into the class room, she took her seat and as the teacher started the lesson she continued to think why would he not want to use the pact when he needed to, but something else started to come up. Why would he tell me I don't have a doppelganger? After school Serenity walked to the Cat Ears Café. As she walked inside she saw that the place was starting to fill up fast, she quickly got into uniform and started taking orders. She left the orders in the kitchen where Rex was making the other orders. After three hours of none stop service, Serenity flopped down in a booth and sighed as she stretched.

"I can't believe how busy it was today, it's not even Friday yet" Serenity said.

"Well, if you ask me I'm glad it was busy, more people means more tips" one of the waitresses said. Rex was standing in the kitchen smoking as he usually did. He felt like something was about to happen.

"They're going to move tonight, if I'm not ready for them, they'll easily take us out" Rex muttered as he sighed as white smoke flew out his mouth. As Rex and Serenity left the café she looked around the parking lot.

"Where's your motorcycle" she asked. Him thinking he had parked it somewhere else.

"I didn't ride it, I walked here, needed to fix it so I left it home" Rex said as he put his hands in his pockets and walked towards the apartments. Serenity stuck close to him, she didn't want what happened last night to happen again.

"You know I'm really uncomfortable with you walking this close to me" Rex said as he had a lit cigarette hanging from his lips. Serenity was amazed that he would tell a girl to not be so close to him, what more was usually smoke would bother her but the smoke from the cigarette didn't. It was like she could see it but it was not there, like it was a dream.

"W...what's it like" Serenity asked to make the mood a little better.

"What's what like" Rex asked.

"What's it like to be a...a Serge Guardian" Serenity asked.

"It's not much different from being a human really, you just have more flexibility with the environment around you" Rex said.

"I don't get it" Serenity said. Rex just sighed, He hated explain things to people.

"What I mean is even though I's like being a human, it kind of not, you have powers that humans don't have, and you wonder about what makes you human sometimes, yes I looked like a normal human but with these powers, it makes me wonder if I'm really nothing but a monster" Rex said. Rex stopped and looked ahead there was three woman standing on the sidewalk staring at him.
"Looks like you get to see your first Serge Guardian fight" Rex said smiling as he cracked his knuckles.

Chapter Seven

As the night sky filled with clouds Serenity couldn't see the three only their outlines, for some reason the street lights had shut down, none of them were working. When the clouds floated away from the moon the three who were standing a few feet away from Serenity and Rex smiled. Serenity sighed a sigh of relief.

"Calm down Rex, it's only Trixy, Cassie, and Trish. Their nothing to worry about" Serenity said smiling as she waved to the three.

"Serenity, you need to realize one thing" Rex said as a small spark of lighting appeared around his body.

"What's that" Serenity said as she saw the spark of lighting around him.

"Humans can't sense a Serge Guardian, but Serge Guardians can sense each other" Rex said smiling as a huge gust of wind blew around the three.

"So your saying that they're" Serenity said as she looked at the three.

"Sorry for keeping it from you for so long Serenity, it was the only way we would keep our secret a secret" Trixy said smiling.

"Now listen to your class president and come here, we don't hurt humans, only Serge Guardian's who come to this town" Trish said.

"So your the legendary Invisible sisters" Rex said smiling.

"Word travels fast huh lighting boy" Cassie said.

"Why...why are you doing this, Rex has done nothing wrong" Serenity said.

"That's easy, they want to be the only Serge Guardians in this town, I always wondered why they called you the Invisible sisters. Now I know why, Wind, Sound, and Gravity" Rex said.

"Wind, Sound, Gravity. Do you mean that's their elemental powers" Serenity asked.

"Yea, they use elemental powers that can't been seen by the naked eye. Serenity, I want you to get out of here. I might be able to handle one, but three at the same time is something that I have never done before" Rex said.

"No way, I'm not going to leave and be some helpless little girl while you risk your life to save me" Serenity yelled as she stood next to Rex.

"Suit yourself just one thing thought, don't call upon the pact, that's one thing I will not let you do unless your life is threatened" Rex said.

"But if I call for the pact then you'll get stronger and win against them" Serenity said as she looked at Rex.

"I told you not to use the Pact and I mean it so don't use it" Rex said as he ran at the three. Serenity could even say a word before he ran off. The three smiled as Trixy lifted up her hand. Rex was suddenly lifted up and slammed into the ground like the gravity around him had gotten lighter then gotten heavier. The pressure was so intense that Rex couldn't even stand; it was like an invisible weight was crushing his entry body.

"Damn it, you three are beginning to get on my nerves" Rex said as he tried to stand up. Trixy just smiled.

"Come on Rex, do you really think you can fight the power of gravity" Trixy said smiling as the massive pressure got strongest and stronger. Rex was on his hands and knees trying to fight the pressure.

"Cassie, I think we should make him feel the second effects" Trish said smiling. Cassie just smiled as she snapped her fingers. A small gust of wind swirled around Rex's body, suddenly the wind started to slice Rex's skin. On top of the feeling of a massive weight trying crushing him, it now felt like knives where slicing into his skin with each cut that appeared on his skin. Blood dripped from every wound and onto the black top.

"Rex "Serenity yelled.

"Stay back damn it, you'll get caught inside this" Rex yelled back as he tried to fight the gravity and wind attacks. Trish smiled as she looked over at Cassie and Trixy.

"My turn" Trish said as she step forward. The feeling of the weight and knives suddenly disappeared. Rex was breathing heavily as blood dripped from his wounds. He looked up and saw Trish ready to attack.

"Serenity, cover your ears" Rex yelled as Trish let lose a massive wave of sound that sounded like nails inside a blender as each blade struck the nails combined with nails scraping down a chalk board. Rex held his hands over his ears but the sound creped between his fingers and into his ears. He screamed in pain. Serenity on the other hand heard nothing.

"Like it, I can focus my sound waves on a single target so anyone around them can hear the noise" Trish said smiling.

"Stop it; you're going to kill him" Serenity yelled.

"That's the whole idea" Trish said as she smiled and made the sound more intense. Serenity didn't know what to do; she made a promise to not use the pact but something inside told her what she had to do.

"I'm sorry" Serenity said

Chapter Eight

Serenity held her right hand tighter and tighter with each passing second, her mind was fighting against the fact that she could use the pact or watch Rex Die at the hands of her three closest friends. She felt conflicted to help Rex but also didn't want him to hurt the only friends she ever hand.

"I'm sorry" Serenity said as the symbol of the golden tiger appeared on the back of her right hand. Suddenly a massive bolt of lightning struck down in front of Trixy, Cassie, and Trish which broke Trish's consecration. The bolt of lightning was different for the others Rex would use, it was pitch black. Black as the night sky, when the lightning bolt disappeared Rex started to get up while small sparks of pitch black lightning swirled around his body as he got up. He smiled as he stood up. The smile was not his own, it looked more sinister and sadistic than anything else. He suddenly disappeared.

"Trish find him now" Cassie yelled. Trish nodded and held her hand out, she was using her sound powers like a bat uses it's sonar, she was looking for were Rex might have gone. Suddenly Rex appeared in front of Trish and slammed his fist into her stomach, as he did four pitch black lightning bolts ripped out of her back and blood flew into the air. She suddenly gasped as blood dripped from her wounds and mouth. Rex smiled as he opened his fist that was inches away from her stomach, suddenly a massive bolt of pitch black lightning engulfed Trish, completely disintegrating her body.

"Trish" Trixy yelled. Rex looked over at Trixy and smiled as he disappeared again. Trixy was suddenly flung into the air then thrown to the ground like an invisible force was throwing her around like a ball. Before she hit the ground Rex appeared above her and grabbed her face and slammed the back of her hand to the pavement. His hand was still on her face as blood started to cover the pavement under Trixy. Rex not only smiled, he started laughing like a mad man. Serenity stood there in fear as she watched her tow friends be slaughtered right in front of her eyes.

"Damn you b****" Cassie yelled as a huge tornado slammed into the ground were Rex was.

"Try and get out of that" Cassie yelled as she smiled. She was suddenly slammed into the brick wall behind her as Rex's fist slammed into the brick wall next to her head. Rex was inches away from her face, the sinister and sadistic smiled made chills run down Cassie spine. She felt the fear of being killed.

"Your scared, I would be too, your death's going to be nice and long" Rex said smiling as he disappeared. Suddenly pitch black lightning bolts shaped liked arrows pierced into her body as she screamed in pain. Serenity covered her ears and closed her eyes. She couldn't take it anymore, she couldn't take the blood turning sight of Rex killing off her three friends, even if they were trying to kill him, she still didn't see any right for him to kill them. As blood dripped from the wounds the arrows left another arrow pierced into Cassie's right leg, another in her left arm, and finally twelve in her head. As the arrows of pitch black lighting disappeared Cassie's lifeless body fell to the ground. A volt of pitch black lighting slammed into the ground and disappeared. Rex was standing there smiling that sinister and sadistic smiled. Stop it, please stop it, no more, please no more killing Serenity thought as she looked over at Rex.

"Please stop it, stop it now!" Serenity screamed, suddenly the golden tiger symbol on her right hand disappeared as the pitch black lighting that was swirling around Rex's body disappeared. He looked at both Cassie's and Trixy's dead bodies then looked at Serenity. He turned and started to walk away. Serenity looked at him for a second then suddenly ran to him. She said nothing as she walked next to him all the way to the apartments. She didn't even look at him, she was too scared to see that sinister and sadistic smiled she saw earlier. When he reached his apartment Serenity looked up at him.

"I'm...I'm sorry" Serenity said, at that moment Rex slammed his fist into the front door of his apartment. Serenity jumped at the suddenly outburst.

"Why didn't you listen to me? Why did you use the pact" Rex said as blood dripped down the front door of his apartment.

"You...you were going to die" Serenity said. She didn't see why he was so mad, she saved his life.

"Damn it Serenity I told you not to use the pact and you do it anyway, you saw what happened" Rex yelled. At that moment Serenity finally understood everything. He didn't want to feel that much evil running through his body, while she thought about when she felt, she totally didn't think about what he might have been feeling.

"I....I'm sorry" Serenity said as she put her hand on his shoulder.

"Don't touch me" Rex said as he pushed her hand off his shoulder, he just opened the door and slammed it shut with so much force it shock the wall next to it. Serenity felt bad that she made him feel all that evil, but at the same time she could Remember the dark aura around Rex's body as the pact was being called upon. She just stared at the blood Dripping from the door where Rex's had punched it.

"you know, when Rex tells you to do something, you should listen to him" a voice said smiling. Serenity turned to see a woman sitting on the ledge of the railing swinging her legs. The woman turned to Serenity and smiled.

Chapter Nine

The girl sitting on the railing flipped over the railing and landed in front of Serenity. She stood up and smiled as she looked Serenity right in the eyes. The girl suddenly flicked Serenity in the fore head. Not enough to hurt her, but just enough to make serenity fall backwards.

"My, My how did poor Rex get someone like you" the girl said smiling. Serenity got up; the girl's British accent was different from anything that Serenity had ever heard before. He clothing was strange to Serenity as well. She was only a few inches taller than serenity. Her long light brown hair had pink bows hanging down it. She had a white coat that was un buttoned with a purple t-shirt underneath. Her bleach stained pants and purple shoes had Serenity wondering is this girl had dressed herself in the dark.

"Take a picture it will last longer" the girl said as she flicked Serenity on the fore head again. Serenity snapped out of her trance and looked at the mysterious girl.

"what do you want, are you another Serge Guardian wanting to kill Rex" Serenity asked. She came right out and asked it, she didn't want another incident that happened a few minutes ago happen now. The girl looked at Serenity funny then started laughing.

"Am I what, no. I just came here to see a friend, but I am a Serge Guardian. I'm not like the others, me and Rex go way back. You could say me and him are like brother and sister" the girl said. Serenity felt a large weight being lifted from her shoulders. She felt as though she could trust this girl.

"so you knew Rex before me, was he always like his gloomy self" Serenity asked. The girl looked at Serenity funny again, like Serenity should have known the answer to her own question.

"No actually, he once was happy, but that was long ago" the girl said. Serenity looked at the girl and sighed. Maybe she could get Rex to feel that way again, to feel happiness instead of this lonely path he was taking.

"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name. mines Serenity Lockheart" Serenity said smiling. The girl smiled and shook serenity's hand.

"Hello Serenity I'm Becca Holmes" Becca said smiling.

"are you related to" Serenity started to say

"No...no, I'm not related to Sherlock homes" Becca said laughing. Serenity smiled.

"Geez Becca, how many times do I have to tell you not to go running off like that, you're a real pain you know that" a voice said as a dark egg appeared out of the ground it Cracked and as the pieces fell a boy stood there smiling. His black pants where as dark as the night sky with a skull belt. His red and black T-shirt mixed together like two streams mixing into the same river. His short black hair covered his right eye as he smiled when he saw Serenity.

"so, who's the chick" the boy said. Chick...did he just call me chick Serenity thought. She hated when guys called her that, it was like they saw nothing but boobs and an ass.

"Do you really have to use that name Zai" Becca said. Zai, that's a strange name, he sounds like he's from Australia Serenity thought as he looked at the two.

"Don't bother tiring to hit on her Zai, Rex has already made a pact with her" Becca said.

"Oh so the old timer finally made another pact I see" Zai said smiling.

"Another...Pact" Serenity asked as he looked at the two. This was the first she had heard of it, to be honest she thought that this was Rex's first pact.

"Zai, I don't think Rex wanted her to find out" Becca said.

"Oops, my bad" Zai said smiling.

"anyway, how do you two know Rex anyway" Serenity asked, she let the news that this was not Rex's first pact fall into the back of her mind.

"Oh that's easy, We three are like best Friends" Becca said smiling.

"that's right, we are more like family then friends, but yea that's how we three are" Zai said smiling. Serenity was puzzled, why hadn't Rex told her about these two. What else was he hiding from her. It all fell on to the thought of him having had another pact. The two looked at Serenity then at each other.

"I knew Rex liked staying out late at night, but having a girl friend is new" Zai said smiling.

"well we didn't get back because...WHAT!" Serenity said. Her face suddenly blushed.

"Zai, you're doing it again. You're making assumptions that aren't right" Becca said. Serenity felt her heart race, it was faster than the time she ran in track.

"I...I have to go, I have to get ready for school" Serenity said as she walked over to her apartment. When she looked over at where the two where they were gone. She unlocked the door and walked into her apartment. She didn't even get undress, she just lay in bed and stared at the ceiling. Everything that had happened was going through her mind like a movie. Her thoughts then stopped on what Zai had told her. She rolled over and had her arm over her eyes and smiled as her face blushed again.

Chapter Ten

Serenity walked to school the next morning, she remembered walking past Rex's apartment and seeing the blood stain that Rex left after he punched the door. She stopped thinking about what had happened and smiled.

"Today, I'll apologize and hope everything will be ok" Serenity said smiling. As she walked up to the school she begin to run to the entrance. She started to slow down then just walked slowly. She almost forgot that Trixy and Cassie wouldn't be there anymore to greet her at the entrance. She felt as though a great weight was on her shoulders, she knew what happened to Trixy, Cassie, and even the class president Trish. As she looked around it was like no one knew they were gone, but it would soon all change. Serenity knew it would come, when the three wouldn't come at all and everyone would find out the horrible truth.

"Why do you look so down Serenity" a familiar voice said. Serenity looked up and saw Becca who was smiling.

"W...what are you doing here Becca" Serenity asked.

"What else, I'm going to school, duh" Becca said as she flicked Serenity on her forehead.

"You know, you two look like your plotting something" Zai said as he walked up to the two. Serenity was both shocked and confused at the development.

"What, you really think this isn't normal, besides that, we needed two people to cover in for Trixy and Cassie" Zai said smiling. Serenity was now totally confused. Zai saw this and started laughing.

"Maybe I should explain, you see my powers is to alter Reality" Zai said smiling.

"Al...Alter Reality" Serenity said. She had no idea reality could be altered, or even changed.

"You see, I altered reality so that instead of Cassie and Trixy being here, Me and Becca are here, as for Trish. I made it so she never came to this school" Zai said. Serenity finally got the concept of altering reality, Zai can change the outcome, or change events. Which was cool in a way.

"So if Trish never came to this school, then who's the new President" Serenity asked. Zai smiled as he lifted his hand and pointed at Serenity.

"M...Me" Serenity said as she pointed to herself.

"that's right, I told Zai to do it, otherwise he would make himself the president" Becca said.

"you make me sound like an egomaniac" Zai said as he heard the bell and started to head towards the front doors of the school.

"Don't let him fool you, his ego is bigger than a Mac truck" Becca said smiling as she headed into the school with Serenity. Serenity walked into the class to find that everyone was there, excepted for Rex. His Motorcycle wasn't in the parking lot. Serenity just took her seat and sighed. It was still too early for the teacher to walk into class, she was always late to her own class she had to teach.

"She's not setting a very good example" Serenity said as she looked to see the other students who had taken their seats and who had been here before the bell even rang. She saw that Zack and his sister Jess were exchanging notes, or as everyone knew, Zack was copping hit little sisters notes because he's lazy. Serenity envied Jess, not because she had a brother. No, she felt being an only child was a good thing. She never wore her hair in the same style. Every day it was a different hair style, so it wasn't how she styled her hair. Serenity envied her because of her personality. Jess was always the type to help people even if they didn't ask for it, she also stood up for her friends. She wouldn't think twice to punch you if you messed with any of her friends. Serenity envied her because of that. Serenity heard a few people laughing and turned to see Brad and Britt talking among their friends. Brad was head of the football team and Britt was head of the cheerleading squad, but they weren't normal sports players. Normally the head of the football team dated the head of the cheerleading squad. Funny thing was, Britt and Brad could stand each other. Not in a way that they hated each other, they just couldn't see eye to eye about things. They weren't like the many jocks and cheerleaders you saw in movies, Britt was the smartest person in the class and Brad wouldn't hesitate to stand up for anyone, even if the football team was making fun of them. Then she saw Amy, she's only been here a few weeks and everyone knew her. Amy was one of those girls who drew, a lot. She could draw anything. You give her a small description of something and she would make it look like your actually looking at it. Serenity just sighed as the teacher walked in ten minutes late.

"I'm so sorry I'm late, hit a huge patch of traffic and got stuck behind all of it" the teacher said smiling.

"you would have been fired weeks ago if you weren't screwing with the principle" Serenity mumbled as the teacher started to write notes on the black board. As the teacher started her lesson, Serenity was staring out the window. She wasn't thinking about the lesson, she was thinking about how Rex was before she meet him. She then had to think about something else because she saw in the window that her face was starting to turn red.

"what's wrong with me, I've never felt like this before, usually I'm thinking about hanging out with my friend, not thinking about a guy" Serenity said as she sighed. Unknown to her or anyone one else Rex was lying on the floor of his apartment clutching his chest as pain filled his chest. It felt like nails where ripping into his heart and chest. The pain was so bad he had to bite down on a piece of wood to keep from screaming.

Chapter eleven

During the entire school day, all she did was stair into space. She jumped when Becca tapped her on the shoulder. Becca saw that she had scared her and started laughing.

"Sorry Serenity had to snap you out of that faze, you looked so depressed. Something on your mind" Becca said smiling.

"Nothings on my mind, just having a hard time concentrating" Serenity said. Becca smiled as she ran in front of Serenity and placed her hands behind her back.

"Thinking about Rex" Becca said smiling. Serenity's face blushed as she quickly responded "No, I'm not thinking of him" Becca just laughed.

"Ok, ok, don't get all pissy. Anyway, the reason why I wanted to talk to you was to make an offer" Becca said smiling.

"An offer" Serenity asked.

"Yea, if you want. I can use my powers to show you the past." Becca said smiling. Serenity looked at her. She was confused at first but then it came to her. So, she can control time. So that means. Serenity thought.

"So, you'll show me the past, what's in it for you" Serenity asked. Becca just turned around and walked a few inches away from serenity, then smiled.

"I'll get to have something to black mail Zai and Rex with" Becca said as she turned around and laughed. Serenity looked at her with a confused look. Black mail? That's all she wants Serenity thought.

"I'll have to get back to you on that, I have to head off to work now" Serenity said as she looked at her watch. She walked away from Becca and thought about her offer. She thought about it until she reached the front doors of the Cat Ear's Café. Which she smacked into because she wasn't paying attention. She rubbed her face before, then walked inside to start working, as she walked into the kitchen. She saw Rex making an omelet. She just walked past figuring he wasn't in a talking mood today after all that's happened. She waited tables all day long until the café closed, she walked home thinking about Becca's offer. If she could at least know what happened back then, she could at least understand him more. As she walked up the stairs to her apartment she saw Becca leaning against her door, waiting for her.

"So, have you come to a decision yet" Becca asked as she smiled. Serenity thought for a moment then she looked up at her.

"Yea, I wish to see the past to understand Rex more" Serenity said. Becca smiled as she moved from the door and walked over to Serenity.

"I should warn you, first time travelers might lose their lunch on this ride" Becca said smiling as she snapped her fingers. Serenity squinted as a bright light appeared in front of her. She opened her eyes to see the tunnel she and Becca where traveling in. Clocks flew past them as she looked around in shock. The bright light appeared at the end of the tunnel and she then saw a field filled with all kinds of flowers. The colors meshed together like a painting.

"Welcome to ten years in the past" Becca said smiling as Serenity looked around. She couldn't believe that she was in the past.

"Now, let's find out what's going on in this time" Becca said as the two started to flout off the ground and flew towards a hill with a large cheery tree that looked over the field of flowers. They stopped and floated down to the ground. As they did a girl looking just like Serenity walked past them and towards the tree. She looked around like she was looking for something.

"Geez, took you long enough" a voice said as a boy jumped down from the tree and smiled. He had blue genes that where ripped on one side, a bluish green shirt that was unbuttoned downs the middle showing a plain white T-shirt. Serenity looked at the boy then at Becca who nodded.

"You see, Rex has somewhat of fusion sense back then, even if some of the clothes he wore didn't match at all" Becca said laughing.

"So is that girl my Doppelganger" Serenity asked. Becca hesitated then nodded, serenity looked from Becca to the girl and sighed.

"Why does my Doppelganger have to look better than me" Serenity said as she sighed.

"So, do you want to see what happened to make him change" Becca asked. Serenity turned to her, she was still hesitant to even see or for that fact. Was she even going to like what she saw. She finally nodded to Becca who sighed, she knew what Serenity was going to see and she knew she was not going to like it. Becca snapped her fingers, the two were suddenly inside a city that was burning to the ground. Serenity's eyes widened as she saw the burning buildings. She then saw Rex fighting someone who was wearing a hockey mask over his face. His black pants and shirt where covered from head to toe in red chains. The chains where designs on him pants and shirt. His white hockey mask had scars all over it as the man and Rex's fists collided sending lighting and flames everywhere. The flames went through Serenity and Becca like they were ghosts.

"We are only observers, we cannot be harmed or change the past" Becca said. As Rex and the man in the hockey mask continued to fight, the girl Serenity saw earlier was watching with the symbol of the golden tiger on her right hand. She looked over at Rex and saw that his lighting was not pitch black. The man in the hockey mask started laughing as huge pillars of flames shot out of the ground. Rex looked over that the girl and smiled as more lighting appeared around his body. He ran at the man who had the Pillars of flames turn into dragon heads that attacked Rex. Rex suddenly disappeared then Reappeared each time the Dragon head of flames would get closer to him.

"How does he do that, can all Serge Guardian just disappear then reappear" Serenity asked. Becca just shook her head.

"He's not just disappearing then reappearing, he's using his lighting powers to do that. He's using the speed of lighting" Becca said. Rex grow closer to the man who was laughing.

"Your pathetic Rex, you honestly think those where for you" the man said laughing. Rex stopped and turned around to see the Dragon heads of flames heading straight towards her. The girl just smiled as the golden tiger symbol on her hand suddenly faded away as the dragon heads slammed into her creating a massive explosion. All Rex could do was watch as the girl was disintegrated into nothing but ashes. He closed his eyes and looked away as his hands started to shack.

"What's wrong, you going to cry now" the man said laughing. The lightning around Rex's body started to change to its pitch black color. Rex looked up at the man then disappeared, as he did a massive bold of pitch black lighting struck the ground. Serenity shielded her eyes from the brightness of the lighting. When she opened her eyes she was back in front of her apartment.

"Wait, what happened then" Serenity asked.

"After destroying the man in the hockey mask, Rex turned into his sheltered self. The one you know now, the reason why he doesn't like you using the pact was because it remained him of what happened ten years ago" Becca said. While the two were talking a man in a maximum security prison walked the halls looking into each room to make sure the inmates where still there. As he walked by one cell. The inmate smiled as he looked up at the prison guard.

"Time to see how my old friend is doing" the man said smiling behind his hockey mask.

Chapter Twelve part one

While the guard of the prison walked the halls and looked into each cell, he looked into cell number 6 and saw that there was no one inside. He quickly took out his keys and unlocked the door and walked into the cell. the man wearing the hockey mask walked out from behind the door and grabbed the guard from the back of the head and slammed his face into the pavement floor. The man just started laughing as he walked out of the cell and headed towards the rest of the cells. He stopped at number 12 and looked at the clipboard hanging next to the cell. Prisoner number twelve, age. twenty-two. Name, Mark Veering, Crime. Killing thirty police officers, twenty-two pedestrians, and three government officials. Was put up for death row, but found that the subject was mentally disturbed. The man smiled as he pushed the button next to the cell letting the door open. He walked in and saw a man sitting in the corner of the cell. his brown [ants where torn as dog tags hung from his belt. His red hoody was un zipped showing nothing but his chest.

"Mark Veering, I read the report. Do you wish to reek havoc once again in this city, or will you sit here and waste away like the rest of the scum" the man in the hockey mask asked. Mark looked up, his blonde hair covering the right side of his face.

"what's your name" Mark asked as the man in the hockey mask smiled behind his mask as he stepped a few inches forward.

"My real name it Chris Sedric, but people call me Nails" Nails said smiling behind his hockey mask. Mark stood up and smiled as he extended his hand.

"I'm in" Mark said as Nails shook his hand. Mark followed Nails as he looked at the other cells. he stopped at a cell that hand no number, instead it had a carving of a snake on the door. Nails took the clip board and looked at the report. Viper, no last name, no history. Killed ten officers, all their deaths were caused by snake bites. Has a fetish for snakes. Nails looked into the cell and saw a woman sitting on her bed playing flute, there where snakes gathered around the floor. Nails smiled as he opened the door to the cell and walked in. the woman stopped playing her flute and looked up. Her purple hair reached all the way down her back, her white dress made her looking like a bride. She smiled as the snakes slithered through cracks in the walls.

"I was wondering when it was going to happen, I've missed my precious Poison so very much. He must be so worried about me" Viper said as she hopped off her bad and stood in front of Nails.

"I take it Poison is your pet snake" Nails asked. Viper laughed as she got closer to nails. Her purple lipstick shining.

"He's more than a snake to me, he's my partner" Viper said smiling. Nails looked at her for a second then smiled.

"Beautiful and crazy, that's what I'm looking for in a woman" Nails said smiling as he walked out of the cell. Viper started laughing as she followed him.

"Don't get your hopes up sweetie; the only creature that's perfect for me is a snake" Viper said as she walked out behind Nails and looked over at Mark who was trying to pry open a door leading to the storage room.

"Hold on Mark, we'll open that shortly. We just need to get more people to help us first" Nails said smiling. Mark looked at Nails than at viper and smiled. He walked over to her and extended his hand.

"Mark Veering, it's a pleasure to meet you" Mark said smiling. Viper suddenly grabbed Marks shirt color and pulled him to her eye level.

"Listen to me boy, try anything and I'll make sure the last thing you feel is venom coursing through your veins" Viper said as she let go of Marks shirt color and followed Nails. Mark watched her walk away and smiled.

"I can tell this team of yours is going to be a fun one" Mark said as he started laughing. Nails ignored Marks comment and continued down the line of cells until he got to cell number seven. He looked at the clipboard next to the door. Inmate seven, Sotoe Springfield. Age unknown, found in a hole in the ground after killing twelve squads of police. All officers where impaled by what looked like bone spikes. Nails looked into the cell to see a man sitting in the middle of the room with a black cloak on, it seemed he had nothing else on but that black cloak. Nails opened the cell and walked inside. Sotoe looked up at nails then looked back down.

"Sotoe Springfield, I have come here to ask for your assistance to rid this world of the people that placed you in here and to those who have looked down upon you" Nails said. Sotoe didn't more. He started laughing as he looked up at Nails

"I'm so happy that someone in this world needs my help" Sotoe said as he
stood up and followed Nails. Sotoe looked at the other two and smiled. Chills went down both Mark and Viper's spines as Sotoe followed Nails. The other two kept their distance away from Sotoe. Nails stopped at the next cell as he read the clipboard. Chris Hover, age 26. Also likes to be called Dark. Killed forty four officers, also putting ten officers in a mental hospital. He is also was part of a vampire cult. Nails looked inside the cell to see something was hanging from the ceiling. He walked in a found that Dark was hanging from a pipe. His legs where around the pipe.

"Welcome to my domain" Dark said as he slipped from the pipe to the floor. He landed perfectly on the ground and smiled as he looked at Nails. His fang like teeth shined in the little sun light that was let into the room.

"I see you had some dental work to get your teeth to look like Vampire fangs" Nails said. Dark started laughing.

Chapter Twelve part two

"I was expense, but in the end. It was worth it, I've been listening to you the whole way down here and I know why you have come to me. I would be happy to help you in any quest you give to me. I would much like to rid this world of the mortal scum that walks this world" Dark said as he bowed. Nails walked out of the cell and headed down to the next one. Each cell he got to had nothing interesting about it. More or less the cells after Darks where just cop killers and murders. Nothing Nails was looking for. He stopped at a cell that hade what looked like claw marks on the door; he looked at the clip board next to the cells doors. Inmate number 9, goes by the name Seether. No real name or past. Age is unknown. Shows signs of cannibalism, ate three police officers, two civilians and ten pets. Nails looked inside the cell to see a man in ripped shirt and pants devouring a rat. The cell was covered in rat carcasses and skeletons, Nails opened the door and Seether looked at Nails and smiled as the rat blood dripped from his mouth.

"I'm sorry to disturb you while you're eating but I would like to talk to you" Nails said. Seether swallowed the rat meat that was inside his mouth and stood up

"What possible could be more important than my meal" Seether asked as he looked at Nails. Nails just smiled as he got walked closer to Seether.
"I've come here with an offer that will make your so called meals look like appetizers" Nails said.

"I'm listening" Seether said as he dropped the rat and listened to what Nails had to say.

"Me and my associates are going to go into the outside world and cleanse it of all its evils and scum, I would like, no. I would be honored if you would accompany us with our plan. I'm sure you can fine some taste people to eat alone the way" Nails said smiling. Seether smiled as he licked his lips and shock Nails hand

"When can I expect my meal to be delivered" Seether said smiling.

"When we leave this place" Nails said as he continued to walk down the cell doors, he stopped at cell number 4. He started reading the clipboard. Lance Sage, well know scientist. Killed his fellow scientist after proposing chemicals that would help in future wars, used the chemicals against arresting officers killing ten. Nails opened the cell and walked into the room where a man with blue hair looked up at him and smiled. He got up from the floor and dusted off his black pants and lifted the goggles off his eyes and looked at Nails.

"So you're this Nails guy I heard about, what you did you some of the officers got me thinking about how I could dissect you and see what makes you tick and think" Lance said smiling.

"Maybe another time Lance, by your enthusiasm, I'm guessing you're going to join us" Nails asked.

"A new adventure, I'm in" Lance said smiling as he placed his goggles back over his eyes and followed Nails out of the cell. Nails looked at everyone and smiled.

"This should be enough, not let's go get our possessions and leave this hell hole and wash this world of the scum that lives in it" Nails said smiling as he headed for the storage room. Finally, I'll get to see you again little brother and when we meet again, you'll be the one that's going to feel the wrath of the ASG Nails thought as he started laughing.

Chapter thirteen

Nails with the help of Mark and lance broke into the storage room. Mark flipped the switch to turn the light on in the room. The eight of them started looking around the room like they were looking for something in particular. Seether opened one of the box's and smiled as he pulled out a raggedy old stuffed lion that had rips along one side and the stuffing was starting to come out of its seams. He hugged the stuff lion and smiled.

"I finally got it back, after all these years it's still in great condition" Seether said as he smiled. Mark ripped through box after box looking from something. He dumped a box over and smiled as he picked up two metal claws. The three blades shined as he took the strap and strapped the base of the claws to his wrist. They extended a few feet over his fingers. He licked the claws but suddenly spat on the floor.

"Damn it, they cleaned the blood off my claws, they don't taste the same" Mark said as he sighed. Lance walked over to the shelf that had a large box with a handle and what looked like a belt on top of it. He took the belt and placed it around his waist. He then opened the box and pulled out five bottles, each one having a different liquid inside of it. He placed each one in a holder that was on his belt.

"I can't believe they actually didn't try and drink these, guess they're not stupid after all" Lance said as he pulled out an empty bottle and sighed.

"Then again, they are cops after all" Lance said as he smiled and took the box and walked over to the others. Dark was going through a pile of clothes when he pulled out a top hat and a cane.

"A little dirt, but that can be cleaned. Everything else looks in good condition" Dark said smiling. Viper went through a box and found a whip that looked like a long snake. The tip of the whip looked like a snakes head.

"Nothing like the real thing, but it will do" Viper said as her tong flickered out of her mouth. She had redone her tong so it was forked like a snakes tong. Sotoe was just standing there waiting for the others.

"I guess all you had Sotoe was that black cloak huh, at least you don't have to look. Me on the other hand, I have to look, but not too far. Nails said as he walked over to a wall and took down the Scythe that was hanging on a nail.

"This thing has been through so much but they cleaned it and made it look new. How thoughtful" Nails said smiling as he took the holder off the wall and strapped it to his body and placed the scythe in the holder.

"So, how in the hell are we getting out of this place. By the time we get outside there will be cops, hell the SWAT team might even be out there waiting for us" Lance asked.

"Why would you ask me something like that, I know what you all are. Your just like me, you have powers" Nails said smiling. The seven looked at nails in shock that he knew about that.

"Once we leave this room, our powers will return and the city will be ours" Nails said smiling.

"Why are you even asking us to help you, your goal is to take over the city. Why couldn't we just do that individually" Mark said. Nails started laughing as he turned to the seven.

"Because there is someone out there, in the city that can kill us. His powers are so great, that with a snap of his finger he could destroy this whole city and everyone in it" Nails said. The seven looked at each other then at Nails.

"So you asked us to help you because if we all attack him, we'll be able to take him down" Viper said.

"Actually, if we all attacked him together we wouldn't stand a chance. My goal is to weaken him so I can take his powers away from him. Then it's open season" Nails said smiling.

"Well, once we're out of here. How will we shack the cops, we all can take them, but if they keep coming. We might die" Seether said.

"I have a friend on the outside that can hide us until our master plan is set in motion. Now, why don't we get out of this hell hole" Nails said as he headed towards the exit. The seven followed him as he walked outside to see a whole army of cops and SWAT teams ready. Nails smiled as he took his hockey mask that was hanging from his belt loop and placed it over his face. Viper put her hand on his shoulder and smiled.

"Let us take care of these little boys, you've done so much for us, it's time we returned the favor. Nails nodded as he stepped back as the seven walked forward.

"Can you all feel it, our powers are coming back. It so warm, I finally feel like my old self again" Viper said smiling.

"Yes, Yes, YES AHAHAHAHA" Mark yelled as he suddenly ran at the cops still laughing. One of the cops tried to shot Mark but he was too slow. Mark's left metal claw plunged deep into the officer's chest. Mark looked back and Nails and the others.

"I don't want anyone to interfere, this is my fight. I...I...I WANT TO KILL THEM ALL! AHAHAHAHAHA" Mark said as the other officers fired. Marks body shock violently as the bullets hit his body from every direction. The officers stopped firing as Mark's lifeless body started to fall forwards. Mark's left foot suddenly slammed into the ground stopping him from falling down.

"What was that...WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT AHAHAHAHAHA" Mark said as he continued to attack the officers. His metal claws stained with the blood of the first officer. He ripped through two other officers like they where nothing.

"What the hell is this guy" Lance said.

"Mark's two powers are super strength and impervious to damage. On top of that he has the rare disease Congenital Analgia" Nails said.

"How do you know that" Lance said as an officer Screamed in pain as Mark tore his right leg off.

"Get up, GET UP AHAHAHAHAHA!" Mark yelled as he started stomping on the officer.

"I heard one of the guards talk about him and his condition. The reason why I can tell what his powers are is because of how he's fighting. He was easily able to take out some officers when he first arrived, plus. Because he took all those bullets and didn't die or bleed lead me to believe my theory" Nails said as mark picked up a police car and threw it onto another police car making the two explode.

"I haven't felt this good in so long. The blood" Mark said as he licked the blood that was on his metal claws.

"The blood, it tastes...it tastes so...GOOD AHAHAHAHAHAHA" Mark said as he attacked more of the officers.

"I can see why Mark is so demented and twisted in his insanity. Not being able to feel pain or get injured has to drive anyone into madness" Lance said. After a few more minutes Mark had taken a deep breath as bodies and parts of bodies lay all over the ground. Is metal claws where covered in blood. They dripped onto the blood stained street..

"Is that it, IS THAT IT! More...I WANT MORE! AHAHAHAHAHAHA" Mark yelled as he laughed into the air.

"Looks like he's done, now that these obstacles are out of the way. Let me call the friend of mine that will help us" Nails said as he walked over to a dead officer and rummage through his pockets until he found what he was looking for. He took out the officer's cell phone and dialed a number. He waited until someone picked up the phone on the other side.

"It's me, I'm out. When can me meet" Nails said.

"I can meet you in an hour, how dose central park sound" the person on the other line said.

"That sounds good, tell me. What is my little brother up to...Zack" Nails said smiling.

Chapter Fourteen part one

"Why do you need to even ask me Nails, you should know how your little brother acts. Besides, he hasn't even found out about me. Keeping my powers a secret from him was too easy" Zack said as he hung up the cell phone.

"Who was that on your cell phone Zack" Jess asked as Zack smiled.

"It was just my boss, he wanted me to come into work after school gets out. Nothing to major" Zack said as he got up and walked out of the class room. As he walked down the hall he pasted by Serenity who ran past him. She ran into the room and looked around. She saw everyone laughing and taking but she didn't see Rex anywhere. She walked over to Becca who smiled as she got looked over at Serenity.

"He's on the roof of the school if you're wondering" Becca said as Serenity looked at her in surprise. She then walked out of the room and headed for the roof. Rex lay on the roof of the school. It was a large rectangle with a large fence on the sides to keep people from falling off the roof. He was staring into the sky, he was lost in thought. Serenity opened the door to the roof and sighed as she walked onto the roof.

"What do you want this time" Rex said as he sat up. Serenity stopped and looked at him. She felt like she was interrupting something. She got over the feeling and walked towards Rex.

"I...I wanted to apologize for using the pact when you asked me not to, I didn't realize at the time what the pact might do to you. I'm sorry" Serenity said. Rex sighed as he stood up.

"Becca showed you the past huh?" Rex said as he sighed again. Serenity nodded.

"She did, but I believe what she showed me was a lie. If it really happened ten years in the past. You would have been eight years old, but you only looked sixteen. So it must have been two years ago" Serenity said.

"You're wrong, it was ten years ago. Serge Guardians age differently than humans and Doppelgangers. We age every five years, so by the time a Serge Guardian gets to the age of two. Ten years have passed in human years. In human years I'm eighteen, but in Serge Guardians years. I'm twenty-eight" Rex said. Serenity was shocked at what she had just heard; she stepped back and looked at Rex. He did look older but not by much, to think he was ten years older then what she thought was unbelievable. Rex walked past her and headed for the open door that lead to the stairs to the school. Something inside Serenity snapped at that moment. The fact that Rex was avoiding her might have been what caused it or the fact that she found out something tragic.

"Stop running away" Serenity yelled. Rex stopped and looked at her.

"What did you say" Rex said as he turned around and put his hands in his pockets.

"Stop running from everything, you think you're the only one with problems. We all have them, we just have to look over them and see the brighter side of things. You don't have to do this all alone. You have friends to reach out to and talk with. Stop all this nonsense" Serenity said. Rex sighed as he took his hands from his pocket. His left hand had his pack of cigarettes.

"You know, you sound just like her. Even when you're staring at me like that you look just like her" Rex said as he took out a cigarette from the box and lit it.

"You know, women don't like to be compared to other women. Even if she is my Doppelganger" Serenity said as she sighed and watched the white smoke flow out of Rex's mouth. Rex looked at her and shook his head.

"You still don't get it do you. Remember what I told you, you don't have a Doppelganger" Rex said.

"I know, I know. Because she died ten years ago" Serenity said. Rex looked at her and sighed, the white smoke.

"I guess you're still not getting it, even if your Doppelganger dies. You still have a Doppelganger. You don't have a Doppelganger because that girl, the one I lost ten years ago, was your human counterpart. If you still don't get it then here it is in a nut shell. You are a Doppelganger" Rex said. Serenity's eyes grow as she stepped back in shock at what Rex had told her.

Chapter Fourteen part two

"You mean, I'm not...human" Serenity said as she fell to her knees. She could take the fact that she was just a copy of someone else.

"Human...somewhat no. Think of yourself as a copy of Mimi. Don't take it so hard; look at the bright side of this. You don't have to worry about dying from your human counterpart and her soul energy" Rex said smiling.

"How touching, I've never seen you think about other people's feelings before Rex" a voice said as the door to the stairs swung closed as Zack smiled as he leaned against the wall. He had been behind the door the whole time listening to the conversation.

"Zack, what are you doing here" Serenity said. She then realized that Zack heard everything they had talked about and would tell the whole school what Rex was.

"So, you where able to hide your presence from me all this time. So you seeing your Doppelganger was a lie. You just wanted to make it look like you where a normal teen" Rex said. Serenity look from Zack to Rex in confusion. Something finally clicked in her mind.

"Rex, don't tell me he's a Serge Guardian" Serenity asked.

"He is, he must have been hiding his presence of being one from me for this long. He just like the other three" Rex said. Zack started laughing.

"You mean Cassie, Trixy, and Trish. Those three weren't even considered Serge Guardians, they where the weakness of them all. I had to inject them with nanobots to boost their powers" Zack said. Rex threw his cigarette to the ground as lighting appeared in his right hand.

"Oh, so you're going to actually fight me now. What fun, he told me you wouldn't fight around humans. Guess he was wrong" Zack said smiling. Rex suddenly shot a bolt of lightning at Zack. The lighting hit its mark as it created an explosion. Serenity was surprised at the speed of Rex's attack. As the smoke cleared Rex's eyes widened as he saw Zack standing there with his hand extended. It looked metal. Zack smiled as the metal on his hand stated to slowly disappear. He let his hand fall to his side

"You like it, that's my power. My body creates liquid metal and coats my skin in it. Its like created my own metal armor. The best part is about my liquid metal, when it hardens. It can't be broken" Zack said smiling as his liquid metal started to pour out of his skin. It started to form an object in his hand as the object took shape Serenity's eyes widened as Zack held in his right hand a silver pistol. Rex smiled as he disappeared.

"You think you're safe from me if you ride lighting, you wrong. I can tack you" Zack said as his liquid metal started to form over his right eye. It formed what looked like a scanner. Zack smiled as he turned to his right and fired three shots. Rex appeared in the spot where Zack had fired. His right shoulder, left leg and right arm had small bullet holes in them. Blood dripped from the holes as Rex tried to move but couldn't.

"What the hell, I can't move" Rex said as he tried but couldn't move. Zack started laughing.

"You can't see it but my liquid metal bullets are spreading through your body making your body stiff as a board. Your completely paralyzed, my liquid metal it making it impossible for you to move, but" Zack said as he snapped his fingers. Rex's body started to move on its own. Rex got to his knees then placed both hands on the ground.

"You might not be able to move, but with my Liquid metal in your body. I can control your actions. I don't see why's he's so worried, you're not as powerful as he said you where" Zack said as the silver pistol in his hand started to form into a new shape. Zack smiled as the liquid metal that created the gun now changed into a silver sword. Zack walked towards Rex with a sick smile on his face.

"Now, why don't we just end this? Once you're dead, he'll take your powers and you'll be dead" Zack said as he lifted his sword over his head and swung down ready to slice Rex in half. Rex's right hand suddenly Grabbed Zack's sword. Zack was shocked to see Rex grab his sword; he was even more shocked to see that Rex could move.

"I had no intentions of interfering with this battle, but. I have no intentions in losing this body, so I must interfere. You don't mind, do yea kid" Rex said as he looked up at Zack his eyes glowing blood red.

Chapter Fifteen

Zack looked at Rex; he felt that Rex's glowing blood red eyes were not only looking at him but he felt that his eyes were staring straight into his soul. Zack suddenly jumped back as the scanner on his right eye was going haywire

"This can't be! His power, its....it's growing. It's already over nine thousand" Zack said as the scanner finally broke. The liquid metal over his right eye sank into his skin as he watched Rex slowly stand up. Serenity just sat there in shack at what was happening to Rex, but more over she felt fear running through her body. The dark aura was back but it was more sinister then the last time it appeared. It felt like Rex was slowly changing into some kind of demon.

"So, what do you say we continue with this little battle of ours? I've been inching for one for too long" Rex said smiling. Zack snapped out of his trance and the sliver pistol appeared in his hand again. He fired six bullets at Rex. Rex just stood there still smiling. Suddenly a wall of black mass rose up from the ground and blocked all the bullets. The black mass suddenly disappeared into the ground. Zack continued to fire shot after shot trying to hit Rex but the wall of black mass just continued to appear and block all the bullets. After a few round Zack finally let the gun change into the silver sword and attacked Rex. Rex smiled as a small strand of black mass appeared in his hand to create a pitch black sword. Zack swung his sword but Rex blocked the attack with his own.

"You're losing it kid, for some reason my shadow powers are causing you to lose your luster" Rex said smiling. Zack jumped back and looked at Rex.

"Shadow...powers" Zack said. Rex started laughing as the pitch black sword disappeared and his shadow on the ground extended and rose up next to him.

"What did you think I was doing, controlling a large mass of darkness, not only can this body control lightning. It can also control shadows" Rex said smiling as his shadow extended along the ground then rose up and formed what looked like a long stick figure with claws for hands. Zack smiled as the liquid metal started to seep out of his skin and bond to his body like a suit of armor.

"So I'm actually going to get a decent fight, this should be interesting" Zack said as he held the sliver sword in his right hand and the liquid metal formed the silver pistol in his left hand. Zack suddenly started shooting at Rex, yet the shadow stick figure just slashed at the bullets. Slicing them like they where nothing.

"You can keep shooting all you want, but my shadow puppet will just deflect everything" Rex said smiling. Zack snarled as the sliver pistol changed into a silver sword. Rex smiled as his shadow puppet attacked, Zack's swords and the shadow puppets claws collided creating sparks that flew in the air.

"This is useless, my swords will never break and your powers will start to give sooner or later. This battle will be mine in due time" Zack yelled as he slashed at the shadow puppet who blocked with its claws. Rex just smiled as Zack swung his sword through the shadow puppet.

"Told you, nothing can destroy my liquid metal when it hardens" Zack said. Rex smiled as the shadow puppet suddenly changed into a huge tentacle of shadows and wrapped around Zack's body.

"Since you clam that your metal is indestructible, lets test your clam" Rex said as the tentacle of shadows started to squeeze Zack like an anaconda squeezed its prey. Zack started laughing.

"You're wasting your time Rex, you'll never get through my metal armored skin" Zack said laughing. Suddenly Zack could hear something cracking. His eyes grow as he looked down to see his armor skin starting the crack under the pressure of the shadow.

"No....NO! This can't be happening, my armored skin can't be broken" Zack yelled. Rex smiled as the shadow squeezed Zack's body more. He heard the cracks as chips of Zack's metal armored skin fell to the ground.

"So much for your indestructible liquid metal" Rex said smiling as his eye's where still glowing red. Zack tried to break free from the shadow but he was unsuccessful in his attempts. Damn it, I've got no choice in the matter. Zack thought as his whole body changed into one huge puddle of liquid metal. It then slithered away from Rex and his shadow. It changed into a sliver falcon.

"Mark my words Rex, I will kill you. That's a promise" the sliver falcon said as it flew away. Rex just stood there watching the falcon fly away. Serenity was speechless during the whole ordeal, seeing the dark aura around Rex was something she was hoping to never see again. This aura however was much more sinister and evil then the other one she saw. This one made Rex look like a demon in human form. Rex's shadow slithered back to Rex and changed back to a normal shadow as it lay under his feet. Rex looked over at Serenity; she felt the fear running through her body, she felt as if Rex was going to kill her. She saw everything, the shadow rising up from the ground and attacking here. She snapped back to reality as Rex's Glowing Red eyes stared right at her, right through her body and into her soul. Rex smiled as his shadow rose up from the ground and suddenly attacked her. All she could do was close her eyes and hope it wouldn't be too painful. After a few seconds she opened her eyes to see that the shadow was inches away from her face but wasn't moving.

"Never thought after all that he would turn on you of all people" Becca said as she smiled. Serenity looked around to see that nothing but her and Becca where actually moving.

"I told you, I can control time. I can not only travel back into time, but also stop, slowdown, and rewind time. Think of my power as the DVD remote to time" Becca said smiling.

Chapter Sixteen part one

Becca smiled as she walked over to the door that lead to the inside of the school from the roof.

"If you don't move when I start time back up then you'll die" Becca said as Serenity quickly moved for her spot and stood next to Becca. Becca snapped her fingers as time resumed, the shadow slammed into the ground where Serenity was before she moved. Rex looked over at the two not seeing that Zai had appeared behind him. Zai slammed the edge of his hand on the back of Rex's neck. Rex collapsed to the ground unconscious.

"Looks like I made it just in time huh" Zai said smiling. Becca sighed as she walked over to Zai

"Let's bring him to Mrs. Diamond, she'll know what to do" Becca said as Zai picked up the unconscious Rex and took him to the nurses office where a woman who looked to be in her late thirties was sitting at a white desk writing a das reports, her long brunet hair was in a pony tail as the white lab coat extended to her ankles. She looked up from her desk and sighed as she was Zai caring Rex.

"What happened this time" Mrs. Diamond asked as she walked over to the bed the Zai had dropped Rex's body in. Serenity was about to answer her but Becca beat her to the punch.

"He was fighting Zack who had kept his power hidden from him, Rex was able to fight Zack off but then just attacked Serenity like she was an enemy" Zai said. Serenity looked at him in surprise when he told Mrs. Diamond all of what had happened on the roof.

"I see, Becca, could you be a dear and fill that bucket with water, chances are that his wounds won't heal on their own" Mrs. Diamond said as Becca nodded and took the bucket the bucket Mrs. Diamond had pointed out and filled it with water from the sink. She took the bucket and handed it to Mrs. Diamond the bucket. She placed the bucket on the floor next to Rex's bed. The water suddenly lifted from the bucket and formed around Mrs. Diamond's right hand, she held her right hand over the bullet hole in Rex's shoulder. The liquid metal that was inside the wound rose up inside the water as the hole in his shoulder started to heal. Serenity looked in amazement as Mrs. Diamond healed the other two wounds on Rex's body.

"There we go, that should do it for now. We just need to let him rest over night and he should be good as new by tomorrow" Mrs. Diamond said as the water with the liquid metal inside of it fell into the bucket.

"So you're a Serge Guardian too" Serenity said. Mrs. Diamond Nodded and walked over to Serenity and placed her hand on Serenity's head and smiled.

"That's right, I'm the Serge Guardian of water, but most people call me Mrs. Diamond when I'm around the humans" Mrs. Diamond said as she smiled.

"What are we going to do about Rex, he's pretty banged up" Zai said.

"We'll just let him rest over night here in the office until tomorrow; he'll be god as new by then" Mrs. Diamond said as she lead the three out of the nurses office and shut the light off.

"How do you know Rex by the way Mrs. Diamond" Serenity asked.

"You could say I'm like a big sister to Rex, I found him when he was 12. He was in a dark alley crying, his cloths where covered in blood. To this day he still won't tell me what happened before I found him" Mrs. Diamond said. The thought of Rex crying was something Serenity couldn't imagine. Rex to her was someone who couldn't cry.

"Mrs. Diamond took in lost children who ran away from home or didn't have a home. That's why Me, Zai and Rex know each other. We all grew up in the same house" Becca said. Serenity followed the three thinking how Rex was when he was still a kid.

"Well this is where we part ways kids, I have to meet up with an old friend of mine this afternoon so you kids should run along to class before you miss the whole school Day" Mrs. Diamond said before she walked out the doors to the parking lot.

"Oh man, she always ruins all my fun; I was hoping to skip classes today because of what at happened to Rex" Zai said as he sighed.

"That reminds me, if Zack's a Serge Guardian, does that make his twin sister one as well" Serenity asked.

"No, not really, Jess is a normal human. Zack's parents aren't both Serge Guardians. His mothers a human while his father's a Serge Guardian, Jess is human and Zacks a fully fledged Serge Guardian" Becca said.

"If his parents are not both Serge Guardians then shouldn't that make both Jess and Zack Half human and Half Serge Guardian" Serenity asked.

"You'd think that but their can never be half a human and half a Serge Guardian. If that happened, the person would die at birth" Zai said. Serenity and the other two stopped n a hallway that split three ways.

"Well, I'm off. I guess, since Mrs. Diamond rained on my possible hooky day. I'm heading off to math class, what fun" Zai said with a little sarcasm in his voice as he walked down the east wing of the hall.

Chapter Sixteen part two

"Well, I have to go too, I got Spanish class. To think a brit like me needs to learn Spanish" Becca said as she sighed and walked down the south wing of the hall. Serenity sighed as she walked down the east wing of the hall, she wasn't paying any attention because she felt something bump inter her. She looked at the small child that had run into her. Her purple hair and lips made Serenity have to take a second take on the little girl's appearance. The only thing that Serenity saw on the girl that was normal was her white dress.

"Owie" the little girl said as she looked up at Serenity. She quickly got up.

"Are you ok little girl" Serenity asked. The little girl quickly gave Serenity a very mean look.

"Who are you calling little, I'm 7 and a half years old and my name is Viper" the little girl yelled. Serenity had to step back at the sudden out burst from the little girl. Viper? What kind of parent would name their kid viper, or for that matter what kind of parent would let a seven year look dye their hair purple? Serenity thought.

"I'm sorry Viper, you just startled me is all, but what are you doing here in the high school. You a long way away from the elementary school" Serenity said. Viper suddenly snarled at Serenity as she kicked her in the shin. Serenity yelped as she felt the pain shot from her shin to her leg.

"How Dare you treat me like a little kid, I told you I'm Seven and a Half years old. I'm practically an adult" Viper said. Serenity looked at her confused at how naive Viper was.

"May I ask then what you're doing here in the high school" Serenity said. Viper looked at her then sighed.

"I'm lost, I was looking for big brother and I got lost in this big school. On top of that I forgot my big brothers name" Viper said. Is she serious? How could you forget your own brother's name? What a weird kid. Serenity thought.

"Would you know your big brother is your saw him" Serenity asked. Viper quickly kicked Serenity in the shin again.

"Don't patronize me, of course I would know big Brother id I saw him. What are you stupid" Viper said. Serenity sighed as she took a deep breath to keep herself from hitting viper.

"Well, since my next class is study hall. I don't think that they would miss me if I didn't go" Serenity said smiling.

"What makes you think I want your help" Viper said. Serenity just smiled as she extended her hand.

"Come on, do you really think you can find your big brother all by yourself in this big place" Serenity said smiling. Viper looked at her for a few seconds then took Serenity's hand.

"T...thanks you" Viper said. Serenity smiled as she held Vipers hand and walked down the hall with viper behind her. Viper smiled as her forked tongue flickered out of her mouth. As Serenity helped Viper look for her brother, Mrs. Diamond walked into a restaurant down town. She looked around until she saw what she was looking for. She walked over to a booth that had a cup of hot tea on the table.

"Well, well. As usually Victoria, You're late" an elderly man said as he walked up to the booth. He walked with a cane that looked like it was made of oak, the can had Japanese letters carved onto the cane and the cane's curved handle looked like an eagles head. His thin white hair matched his thick white beard. His brown coat and brown overalls where what most people called old persons clothes. He sat on the opposite side of the booth and smiled.

"Have you brought me good news Victoria" the elderly man asked as he picked up the cup of hot tea and sipped it.

"Well, you can call this whatever you want. Good or bad. I've confirmed that Rex is his reincarnation as you predicted" Victoria said. The elderly man sighed as he set the tea cup on the table.

"This is a dilemma now is it? We aren't what we use to be back in the old days, all we can do is hope this generation of Serge Guardians are as powerful as we were all those years ago" the elderly man said as he watched the tea leaf in his tea spin.

So..many...chapters!
I'm reading the next chapter tomorrow though. My brain just cannot process!
But still, you are a true writer, being able to conquer a whole book. That is just awesome.

Alright, so here I am reading the first chapter and I'm finding myself increasingly disinterested as each line passes my eyes.

There are long, drawn out paragraphs telling me every single detail of your protagonists and I really cannot bring myself to care what colour hair the teacher has.
It's information I don't need. I want plot, I want excitement, I want something to happen.

Then there's sloppy stuff like

Cassie said smiling at grinning at Serenity.

Which doesn't exactly tell me I'm about to read something interesting.

Writing is: 5% imagination, 15% channeling said imagination, 15% writing and 738549% reading it, editing, reading it again, editing it some more, letting someone else read it and sucking at math.

"You have a better chance of having a consecration with a rock Cassie, Rex hasn't talked to anyone; he didn't even say anything to me when I introduced myself to him"

Consecration? Is this a Catholic school? These are high school kids, right? What 15 year old talks like that?

"He put you in your place Trish" Trixy and Cassie laughed at this turn of events and were quite amused at the seen of events taking place.

... and there's more of this. Spelling, grammar, the lot. If you want your stuff to be read, make it enjoyable to read.

"What? Hey! I'm doing do anything like that!" Trish yelled.

Chapter Seventeen part two

After a few hours of helping viper search for her older brother the final bell rang, everyone started to leave the school. Serenity sighed as Viper stood near the entrance of the school watching all of the students leave the school.

"Are any of the guys you see leaving the school your older brother" Serenity asked as viper watched everyone leave the school.

"None, I don't get why he would hide from me. Where practically family" Viper said as she sighed. I'm beginning to think she doesn't have an older brother, she just likes to any people she meets Serenity thought.

"Are you sure he even goes to this school" Serenity asked as viper looked up at her and shrugged her shoulders.

"All I know is that he goes to high school, that's basically all I know" Viper said. Serenity shook her head and sighed. She was about to say something when she was interrupted by someone yelling. "Viper, what the hell are you doing here" Serenity looked over at the boy who had blond hair, blue jeans and a red hoody. The red hoody made Serenity wonder if he was in the right state of mind. It was nearly eighty degrees out and a hoody was something normal people wouldn't ware. Viper suddenly ran at the boy and smiled as she stood in front of him.

"Viper, how many times do I have to tell you? I got to the high school down the street; I don't go to this high school" the boy said as he sighed and looked at Serenity.

"I'm sorry if she caused you any trouble, she has a bad memory" the boy said as he and Viper both left. Serenity watched them leave as she sighed and walked the opposite direction back to her apartment. As the boy and viper walked away Viper smiled as she started to grow. Her appearance now looked like a twenty-two woman with long purple hair. She smiled as her forked tongue flickered out of her mouth.

"Did she suspect anything?" the boy asked. Viper started laughing as she looked at the boy.

"Come on Mark, do you honestly think she could see through my shape shifting powers" Viper said as she smiled as she ran her fingers through her long purple hair.

"I have to agree with you, even though some people can see through a shape shifters appearance. She had the intellect of a snail" Mark said as he smiled. As the two continued to walk a snake slithered from a crack in-between a fence and slithered up Vipers leg, around her stomach and around her neck. Viper took the palm of her hand and lifted the snakes head and kissed it on the forehead.

"So what did you find out poison" Viper said smiling as the snake hissed into her ear, Mark just watched in shock as Viper talked to the snake like it could speak English.

"Oh really, so Zack actually did something useful then" Viper said as she kissed the snake on its lips. She let the snake slither from her neck onto the ground as it slithered into a hole next to the road.

"So, what did your snake friend tell you" Mark said, his voice sounded like he was mocking Viper for talking to the snake.

"Poison told me that Rex is in the nurse's office, he's staying there over night for bullet wounds he sustained from his go-around with Zack" Viper said as her forked tongue flickered out of her mouth. As Mark and viper both walked down the road, Mrs. Diamond and the elderly man where still sitting in the restraint. A waiter walked over to their table and set down a cup of coffee in front of Mrs. Diamond.

"So, things are changing. We are getting old, but I still think about or old missions we use to tackle when we were on the militaries special task force" Mrs. Diamond said as she poured some cream into her coffee.

"Yea, I still say the most difficult mission we ever took on was tiring to kill Hitler. His mind control powers where taught to get past" the elderly man said as he drank the last bit of his tea that was in his tea cup.

"I have to agree with you on that one, I would have never guessed that you could actually reveres his mind control with a mirror" Mrs. Diamond said as she drank her coffee. The two stopped talking for a few seconds and stared into their cups.

"What are we going to do about the escaped prisoners that where from section Z" Mrs. Diamond asked as she took her spoon and started to stir her coffee in her cup.

"All we can do hope that the reinforcements that we called in get here on time before any battles start" the elderly man said as he sighed and asked for the check when the waiter walked by. As the elderly man paid for the bill both he and Mrs. Diamond walked at of the restaurant.

Chapter Seventeen part two

"As for Rex Victoria, I want to keep a close eye on him. If you are right, he's the one that we have to worry about. The escaped prisoners that where from section Z are the ones that might open a can of worms that might not be able to be shut" the elderly man said before he hugged Mrs. Diamond and slowly walked away from her. Mrs. Diamond sighed as she walked to her car; she opened the door and sat in the car for a few seconds before she stared the engine and drove off. Viper and Zack both walked into the lobby of a five star hotel, the man behind the counter watched as they walked over to the elevator and pushed the button to have the doors open. As the elevator doors opened Mark walked into the elevator and pushed the button to take them to the thirty-forth floor. Viper walked into the elevator and turned around and winked at the man behind the desk before the doors closed.

"You do know how vindictive you are" Mark said as Viper let out a creepy laugh as she looked at Mark and smiled.

"It's in a snakes nature to be vindictive, otherwise they would scare off their pray" Viper said smiling as the elevator stopped and the doors opened to the thirty-forth floor. Mark walked out of the elevator with viper and walked towards a door that had three hundred and four in gold letters on the door. Mark reached into his back pocket and took out a card and swiped it in the card lock mechanism. It beeped and the small light glowed Green as Mark opened the door and sighed as Viper walked past him and went straight for the small fridge in the room.

"We're back" Mark said as Sotoe leaned against the wall next to one of the rooms, when he saw that they had come back he said nothing. All he did was go back to staring at the floor. Lance was too busy mixing chemicals on the table to notice the two had even left. The table was made of priceless oak and Lance had already had one of his chemicals create a hole in the wood table. Nails walked out of the bathroom with his hockey mask hanging from his pant loops

"So, what did you find out" Nails said as he sat down on a chair and smiled as he placed his rested his right leg on his left leg.

"Shouldn't we wait for Dark and Seether before we talk about what we are going to do next" Viper said as she sat down on the couch with a bowl of gummy worms.

"Seether has gone to find himself a suitable meal and Dark is already here" Sotoe said as Dark walked out of the darkness of one of the rooms.

"I can't stand the light around her, once I help Nails rid the world of this scum. I'll make sure to cover this world with a never ending night" Dark said smiling.

"We found out that Zack had fought Rex and that Rex is wounded because of the fight" Mark said as viper took a handful of gummy worms and ate them. A sliver falcon landed outside the window and pecked at the window. Sotoe moved from his spot on the wall and walked over to the window and opened the window to let the silver falcon inside the room. The silver falcon landed on the floor and changed into a sliver puddle. Suddenly what looked like a person started to rise up from the sliver puddle until there was nothing but a sliver figure standing where the puddle was. The liquid metal suddenly seeped into Zack's skin as he sighed.

"So, what did I miss" Zack asked as he walked over to a chair and sat in it.

"We were discussing what happed during your battle; I told you that he was strong. How was your first battle against the ASG" Nails said smiling.

"It was like you said, he is very strong. I thought that he was somewhat strong but his power level was over nine thousand" Zack said. As they talked Seether walked into the room, he was licking blood off his hands and had a brown paper bag in his other hand. He walked over to the fridge and placed the brown paper bag in the fridge. He smiled as he sat down on the couch next to Viper.

"Now that we are all here, it's time to get down to business" Nails said as he smiled
