Are not funny in langauge. Why? Because they lose all meaning in translation. Isn't this sad, I know like the greatest joke in swedish history, and it would lose all meaning if translated to english.

Also, some jokes only work if you say them, such as puns.
In text form, the pun in the joke is either obvious, if you spell it as its mean't to be in the joke, or confusing, if you spell it the proper way which then makes it not a pun at all.

Not everything gets lost in translation. Plenty of jokes would still work.

Puns wouldn't, but I don't see why "why did the chicken cross the road" wouldn't work in other languages.
