This is my failed attempt at animation before I realized that I couldn't draw or animate, and pursuing game development was a better option.
It's all frame by frame, no tweening. However, I used the same objects for a couple of the things, such as the head.
Enjoy (probably not)
look's ok dude but not super great (no offence)
Yeah, I fail at art. Game design and programming come much more naturally to me.

dude this is all about leaning lots of guys will give you good advice if you post what your not good at

Dudd Ignxhll is right. Its all about learning, practicing and all that shit. You dont have to be an amazing artist to make a good flash cartoon. Hell LegendaryFrog is a prime example of this. His art really isnt that great but ALOT of people enjoyed the cartoons he made back in the day. In fact if i recall correctly even his audio quality sounded bizarre. Speaking of which whatever happened to that guy?
Anyway ive never been much of a writer or storyteller so me working on the flash cartoon im doing is a new expirence for me(well actually flash in general is). Im more of a artist/musician but im giving the whole script writing a shot. Dont give up on the art aspect just because your not good now, that doesnt mean you cant get better later.

Anyways i really liked the animated gifs and A06's flash animations. it'd be cool to see more fbf stuff from more people. I like this thread and will try to add another experiment later. Hopefully i'll get some critics, comments or questions about this one or the last one i posted.

Obviously not professionally, but that doesn't change my point.

Dude i think your animation looks awesome. The thing i love the most about it is the audio. The squeak, the clanking of the robot walking and then theres the voice acting. Your animation is smooth, fluid and has its own style. I think it looks fantastic, id love to see an actual cartoon. I really cant think of anything to really critisize about it.

Thanky kindly A06! The audio was fun to find, Rig actually helped me with a bunch of things but out of THIS particular demo shown, there's only about 75% of the whole audio in there now. I've added a bunch of robotic alien-like sounds to sweeten it up even more :D, as well as more bassier thuds on the footsteps and all sorts of other things :D
This'll be out on Robot day, look out for Patchman: Rival-Robot
a couplequestions about audio since we're talking about it. When exactly would you add audio into the flash? would you wait till the flash itself is done or do it as you go? same goes for voice acting as well. Do you wait till the flash is done or add it in as you go or get all the voice acting done before hand? Also where would you find some audio effects like the machine sounds you had in your flash or like some ambient background stuff like birds chirping or footsteps or something? Is there a site that just has random sounds you can download or would yo go out and try and record those yourself?

Hoo boy, so many questions .___.
Alrighty lemme try and get through this.. one at a time.

I add audio whenever i feel like it, sometimes it gets put off till the very end and sometimes i'll just be working on a scene and get bored so i'll throw in audio. Its really whenever you feel like it :P

I like sending out scripts either before I start or once i'm done the animatic, you always want them early on because without dialogue, there's no way of properly timing out a scene. Even if it fits with how YOU say it, voice actors could be faster or slower than you.

Free sites are
Flashkit
Findsounds
I buy alot of sounds off of soundsnap, its a LOT higher quality and its not too expensive.
Sometimes i record things myself too, making SFX is alot of fun. One of the SFX's you hear in that patchman clip is actually a spoon on a lemon-juicer, but you'd never notice :)
