Canada only has half enthusiasm about the cup. This country is more about winter sports than summer sports. Some of my sports friends can talk about it a lot, but overall, there's not much interest in Canada. Especially when we've only played once in the world cup, which was 24 years ago.

To be honest, I'm not even that interested in soccer, but I still enjoy watching the games, mostly because it's a major sports event, like the Olympics.

Country representatives updated! NOTE - If you have not clearly stated that you come from a specific country you are not automatically put on the country representative list. Sispri and FunnyDudeInSchool
for example please give me a shout if you want to represent your countries :-)

Regarding deadlaw117 and the Philippines - unfortunately you cannot represent the Philippines unless you actually live there and know the culture well, hopefully this is okay with you. I just feel that it would be wrong if someone looked for a Filipino to ask about the Philippines and then that person would get names of people who have never actually visited the Philippines. If you want to represent the country you currently live in, please tell me :-)

I have been watching the world cup lately, I am delighted that Japan managed to win against Cameroon. It was a tough came and the underdogs (Japan) managed to come out on top in the end.. Good game Cameroon!

The NGCX currently has 15 country representatives stemming from eight countries.

Countries with most representatives:
1. Canada - 5
2. USA - 3
3 - 4. Brazil - 2
3 - 4. United Kingdom - 2
5 - 8. Ireland - 1
5 - 8. Japan - 1
5 - 8. Latvia - 1
5 - 8. Mexico - 1

Welcome :-)

What did you think about the world cup tie against England? Have you noticed any other interesting reactions about it?

I imagine the tie was a big upset to England as they were the favored team to win. From what I've heard, the goalie who let it slide is getting grilled over it. Everyone seemed to have thought that the U.S. won for some reason. Maybe it was a pride thing, that our team held their own against England, thereby "winning". That being said, I'm not following the World Cup as closely as avid fanatics are. I am intrigued by the international aspect of it. I've heard the spotlight is now on South Africa as they want to change the world view of Africa in general. Then of course you have the whole post-apartheid issue. But no, if you were to ask me if I were a soccer fan, I would probably say nay. I find the social and economic effects of this multinational convention more intriguing.

Hey ! So , I have a question for members from UK . The question is about education .
I'm planning to move to UK and work as a barman . But I don't know what education is need in United Kingdom to work as a barman . In Latvia you only need 9 classes finished and a diploma of a barman . So can some please tell me is there a Middle Eduction needed to work as a barman in United Kingdom ?
And also please tell me is it allowed to have long hair and tattoos to work as a barman in UK ? Because in Latvia it is not allowed .
I hope someone can answer my question . Bye Bye !

P.S. Sorry for my bad English .

P.S.2. Excuse me for using word barman so many times .

There's an old joke that goes "The Irish are so bad at international football that they had to invent their own."

While this is completely true, there are still a fair few football fanatics in Ireland. I've not really been following the world cup very closely myself, but the same can't be said for my friends.

Just noticed this, sorry.

Shoot.

I'm planning to move to UK and work as a barman . But I don't know what education is need in United Kingdom to work as a barman . It depends on a lot of factors. If you plan to work as a barman for an already owned traditional pub, then you wouldn't need qualifications to my knowledge. However, if you plan to run a pub or be a barman at a bar or night-club, it may be different. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't, but there is a chance there is a difference. I do know a girl who worked as a barmaid for a while though so if there is a qualification of some kind, then I'll post it up. Otherwise, assume there isn't one.

And also please tell me is it allowed to have long hair and tattoos to work as a barman in UK ? Because in Latvia it is not allowed .

It's not advised, however I think some pubs will let you. I think it depends on the state of your hair. If it's wild and fizzy, then they'll likely say no. However, if it's straight, then they may let you just put it back into a pony-tail. The tattoo thing would also depend on the size of said tattoo. If you have a lot, they may reject you. If you have very few though, they may just let it slide. It's partly out of possible health and safety, but there's also an image factor. If you look violent, then they'll likely say no. However, if you look like a normal guy with just longer hair in a pony-tail, then they may just accept you. If there's health and safety issues, then I'll reply back. Otherwise, I think it's mostly just image.

I hope someone can answer my question . Bye Bye !

P.S. Sorry for my bad English .

P.S.2. Excuse me for using word barman so many times .

It's totally fine, sorry I didn't do it sooner.

True, there isn't much here besides a few shops and restaurants. Meh, at least I can hunt with my uncle.

Also, semi-mega bump for interest.

Yeah, I have them on a Facebook album.

Day One.
Day Two.
Day Three.

Yeah, it was a pretty crazy few days to be fair. There were drinking, last minute rushes, more drinking, more rushing, and a whole lot of shenanigans were had.

In terms of the places we were, eh, there's a few of some notice. Like in this photo, you can see Hyde Park. The grass did seem a bit on the dead side and there were...Stuff on the floor. The most noticeable part (besides the severe lack of a toilet) was as you're walking in there were A LOT of religious groups screaming their word to large crowds of people. I couldn't help but feel something in me die as I realised that this shit happened back during BC in places like Israel. You know, like Life Of Brian, where people would scream the word of god to pass-byers in hopes to convert. Yes, I'm pretty sure if someone finds god and it's of a particular religion, I'm pretty certain they know where to find you. I didn't take any pictures of the religious crowds since they seemed a bit irrelevant to us.

Another thing worth mentioning was we got petitioned to. There was something about Child Trafficking and I had to ask "wait, I thought this was still illegal?". I got a roar of laughter and told that it's more so children get more after-care. Damien fucked around a bit wanting to write "GayForGirls" as his name. Honestly there's so much crap happening at Hyde Park it's shocking. Like there were football games, the previous mentioned religious ranting, families having picnics, cricket and even other meets (Tim/Tom (forgot his name, think it's the later) from SuperFlashBros went to a YouTube meet at Hyde Park on Day One for a bit, although other people couldn't work out how the hell they actually would of arranged it due to the lack of a forum).

Yeah, there was other shit, but it's a case of others pointing out or asking questions.

I love Brazil! I have a question though - do you notice that there is a presence of Japanese people or people who are related to Japanese people in Brazil? I have heard that Brazil has a relatively large Japanese population and I even have some friends who come from Japan who have lived in Brazil at some point. Obrigada!

Although that sounds nice, it also sounds a bit iffy.. Well, if you actually saw the person buy I guess it's okay, but if he came up and just said "Here, have this ice-cream", that would've been chotto sketchy. So, why is there so much activity (i.e. religious groups) there in particular?

Aah, souka .. that's really close to Tokyo. I went to Tokyo the other week, it's always so full of people, but it's a really nice place. A LOT of tourists and foreigners, you can't compare it to my city at all. The metro is really useful too once you learn how it works and know which lines you should use. I think it is the greatest metro network in the world though so it takes a while to learn it properly!! Well, anyway, I think Kanagawa-ken is really nice ;-)

My favorite memory of Japan was when I was 6 and I dropped my shaved ice at the beach and started crying. A nice lady who worked at the stall gave me a new one. Goddamn, the people are so nice. I'd like to go back some time. Shame I come from a poor family.

I feel this deserves one revive before drifting into obscurity...

Anyway, I've always been really attracted to Persian peoples. Iranians, Uzbeks, etc. The like. I just find them, somehow, extraordinary.

Any tips on learning Farsi? I speak English, Japanese, and some German. I want to know how different it would be from these languages and how difficult it would be as a result.
