4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsI just got a reformatted computer today and to make it short and sweet, an error comes up every time I try to play audio telling me that there is a problem with the sound card either 1. Not working/functioning properly, 2. Sound device being used by another program, and 3. I do not have a sound device. I know that I do have a built in sound card so it should work, and since I have absolutely no other programs open and the computer is new, having only run FL and Windows Media Player separately, I can say that it's the first choice. I know I have seen similar problems where people have sound cards and they don't work and then later they realize a simple problem and it works. Does anyone know how I would go about making my sound card work? Maybe I have to do some configurating on the sound settings? Or I have to use some program in Windows to install the driver or something?
Strychnine and cyanide. A healthy part of this complete breakfast.

There we go. The problem is most likely the lack of driver, I would say. I am merely a second semester network administration student, but if you are formatting a system drive and are "purely" reinstalling an operating system, the drivers need to be resupplied, unless the driver is one of those that actually is included in this so-called "Windows Catalog". I do believe the case is the same for integrated devices.
Look up your PC model on the Internet. The manufacturer most likely has a system like so on their "drivers" part of their website. If they have a so-called Chipset software for your model, you should install this first, or else your devices may not work properly, if at all, and may even be the root of your problem.
If you see a sound driver, choose and install it. Hopefully it will be a setup program, or else you will have to install the drivers manually. If you do, you can do this either directly from the Device Manager or by going to the Add Hardware part of your Control Panel. In such an event, do feel free to message me, and I will (likely through pathetic attempts) do my best to assist you!
If you have to pay for drivers, you have found a dead end (drivers should be free, preferably downloaded separately).
This is what I believe may be a solution to your problem. Whatever happens, good luck!! =)
