The nut looks like it's been moved over. I tried to move it back, but it's stuck, as if it was made that way...

Extremely late in answering this but:

It hasn't been glued properly as mentioned before, or the neck is somewhat considerably warped, or the neck isn't lined up properly with the body causing the strings to push the nut in that direction.

Or just stop doing so many extreme bends :P

I don't doubt that but when it comes to that technique, it gets repetitive and boring very quickly.

Especially considering most of the songs played on the radio today are just simple power chords.

Hey, I just started playing guitar about 2 weeks ago so I wouldn't really consider myself a guitarist yet but I'll join. I've already got a few simple things like the mario theme, the middle by jimmy eat world, and a few other little songs down. If anyone has any simple songs that you think a beginner can learn feel free to send them to me! Any help is appreciated

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying power chords are good per se, but they can be used well.

I agree. I just don't like it when bands can't do anything but power chords.

So I've decided that I'm going to build myself a guitar completely from scratch over the next couple years or so. I'd like it to be ready for my first decade of playing guitar. (:

I want it to be a Quicksilver style body, which is built by Ed Roman Guitars.

So far I've decided on black Korina for the back and sides, quilted maple for the top, with (if I can get it right) pearl binding. The fretboard will be Indian rosewood set on probably a maple or mahogany neck.

I'll send the neck out to Ed Roman Guitars for custom inlay work and possible scalloping, but unlikely.

It'll have 22 frets on the low E string, and 24 on high E.

I'll be practicing on cheaper woods getting the body perfected before I move on to the real deal just to be absolutely sure I don't fuck up $500 worth of wood. I'll do a clear satin finish on the back, sides and neck while the top will have some sort of burst. Probably dragon burst since it's absolutely fucking awesome, but it'll take a shitload of practice.

It'll have rear chambers and hopefully I'll be able to keep the guitars weight between four and six pounds.

I'll have either Seymour-Duncans or DiMarzio pickups with a Fernandes Sustainer.

No pickguard.

If I can figure out how to do it, the strings will be run through the body. If not, then I'll just do a stop tail.

All hardware will be gold.

Recessed knobs.

Double cut away.

I'm going for a lot of low and mid range, with enough high range to break through any mix. And I believe the set up I've chose will nail that goal.

Any other questions about my setup, ask away.
Any comments about how I've made a horrible mistake, PLEASE let me know.

Should be a really cool project and when I get started I'll post pictures regularly. (:

I sincerely wish you good luck. As sincere as a post on an internet forum can be, at least :P

Perhaps you could start with something a bit simpler, though. Your project is very ambitious.

Sounds all good to me, and you seem to know what you're doing, though if you get stuck along the way or something of that sort, just PM me and i can give you a hand...sort of. What you're attempting now pretty much takes a big dump on what i made. Though the body/neck carving/cutting/whatnot i can give you tips on.

That would be really awesome! I could use all the help I can get for the cutting!
I think my biggest problem will be getting the size and stuff exactly right.

I chose an extremely ambitious project because I'll probably end up building guitars for myself for the rest of my life and it's much, much cheaper than buying a custom made guitar.

Not to mention everything can be done exactly to my specifications and I know that there won't be slacking on it, 'cause if I slack on this guitar. Whatever problems arise, it's my fault and I'm the one that'll have to fix it.

I'm extremely excited about getting started though. It should be a really fun project that will turn out a gorgeous guitar. (:

Well it sure has been a while since I posted here...

I have a question for you guys and gals today. I dont know the term for it, but in my Floyd Rose tremolo (Original?) the part that has those little spirals that hold in the tremolo so it doesnt go flying out is loose and I need help on tightening it so I can actually move the tremolo without pulling/pushing on the tremolo itself.

I'm not certain but the part im referring to that moves around is the tremolo arm sleeve? I don't really know much about my floyd rose and a quick google led me to that...

By moving around in place I mean that you can grab it in your hand and jiggle it around in its slot.

Sorry if my question is redundant/confusing/stupid, I'm tired...

Try tightening that, maybe?

I know on my baretta that the nut is located on the underside of the plate. You might need to remove your trem in order to tighten it.

So im gonna replace/re-glue/whatever i need to do - the nut on this chicks guitar. You guys got any tips/experience on doing any of this? I've only ever done it twice, once on the guitar i stripped parts from, and again on my guitar that i made, but that was already loose as anything to begin with.

My dilemma has been solved.

Just opened it up from the back and held the holder thingy with my hand and tightened it with an allen wrench.

Have any of you ever used Blue Chip Picks. They seem like they are totally worth it but at $35 bucks a piece I really need to know for sure before dropping that kind of money. If they really are super fast and very durable than I can totally understand paying that much for just one. But I never trust sites with testimonials because you never know if people are being paid to like something or if it their true and genuine opinion on the topic. I wish i could go to a store and hold one but as far as I know they are only available from this website.

That is just fucking ridiculous.
If I was given one I'd use it for exclusivities sake (assuming its good). But I cannot believe those are $34 better than your average plectrum.

I imagine its just some wankerish item for snobs (as I said, I'd use it if I was given one :P).
