I'm playing guitar in a school jazz band.The solos and melodies are pretty easy, basically a blues scale, mostly in the key of b flat, e flat, or f major. The chords, like e flat 9th, f minor seventh, and d seventh are kinda confusing and the positions are weird, but I'm getting the hang of it. It's pretty fun. We're going to contest soon in South Dakota, it'll be a blast (we have the best jazz band in Iowa, 4 championships running).

Is your school organizing that or are you yourself organizing the band? It would be pretty awesome if we had guitar in my school, then I could actually look forward to going, maybe in high school though.

I just spent about 5 hours today learning "Diminished To B" by Necrophagist. My left hand has never hurt so badly in my life, the finger patterns in the song just are not made for the human hand. I did make tons of progress, and I have all the riffs learned, and need to clean them up a bit. Then the solo will be easy, and I'm saving that for last.

Just to show you what I mean, I'll like to a kid playing it on youtube.

The guy's voice surprised me a bit. I was expected guttural growling. I guess I listen to too much death metal.

I can't even hear anything... it's like this huge wave of notes all mixed together and it sounds... bad. But I do agree that it's most likely hard.. I think I could pull it off at half speed in the first week though.

Remember I told you I got an Epi Valve Jr? I finally got it to work today! (I needed the 220V adaptor). I used a car speaker, and, as Jarrydn predicted it was pretty fuzzy, but still, it sounded great clean. Maybe I'll take it to a music store tomorrow to try it out with a real cab.

BC Rich's look like toys and sound pretty bad, they also have a bad reputation now. I only like Mockingbirds, I played one at store near my place and it was decent, not the best though. I got an idea, sell your Ibanez GAX and Warlock, save up some more money and get like a RG or something from Ibanez. They look nice, have high quality parts and play above all else in their price range. And I got Seymour Duncan's on my Jackson and their fucking awesome.

Have you checked that it is not just a soldering issue and that the pick-ups are actually fucked, I mean if it is just a loose connection, then you can actually play it whilst you are getting money for new ones. But why you would want to play a shocking guitar in the first place is beyond me anyway.
