But so is clarity. That's why I have 2 humbuckers.

I can get just as much clarity from my singles as long as I don't use too much in the way of effects. And the tone of the singles is much, much nicer.

Especially Tele ones.

Lulz. It's from my dad. He got the guitar over twenty years ago, and gave it to me. It's the most expenzive thing I own, and probably in our house.

Well we could use as much effects as we want and not have to worry about having clarity problems as you pointed that Single-Coils get. And I actually think the tone that EMG's give is the best tone for Metal and other genres of music as well. Crisp tone that has a lot of crunchy depth to it. I almost drooled there, yum. But you prefer the 80's sort of Jimi Hendrix, warm fuzzy tone, then go right ahead but 'I like me sum of emz EMGz'.

Or you could use minimal effects and let the guitar and amplifier create most of the tone. And clarity problems only really occur when you pile on the distortion, which generally makes any guitar sound crap.

And I actually think the tone that EMG's give is the best tone for Metal and other genres of music as well. Crisp tone that has a lot of crunchy depth to it. I almost drooled there, yum.

I find EMGs quite sterile as far as tone goes. If I was after a metalish tone I would use a DiMarzio of some sort, EMGs just have a lackingness to them.

But you prefer the 80's sort of Jimi Hendrix, warm fuzzy tone, then go right ahead but 'I like me sum of emz EMGz'.

80's Hendrix? Unless guitars can be played by dead people it is rather difficult for this to occur.

Maybe, but nothing in the living universe beats Praise-God Barebone.

Yes, he did exist as well.

The fact that you have Spinal Tap there makes up for all your other musical sins.

This may be a bit of a question a guitar noob would ask (I am sort of, only been playing nine months), but what's a pull-off? I was under the impression that you pulled off the string while the note was still playing, giving the sound of an open string, but as of late, I have seen that this is not the case.

Your opinion, but I highly disagree that they 'lackingness' in them. And their definitely not sterile.

I was implying of two different things, not that Hendrix lived in the 80's I know he died on September 18, 1970, and God bless his soul of dying at age 27. Anyways, I find their tones to be some what similar (own opinion).

You been playing for five years and still couldn't find anything you like more to listen/play then Green day, Blink 182 and Fall out boy?

It's when you pull your finger off the string immediately after playing a note. It requires a bit of practice to get it right.

To me, EMG's sound like "KJJJJJJJJJJJJ". Active pickups (at least in guitars) sound terrible in my opinion.

And single coils sound sexy.

I just fell off my chair and saw my life flash in front of me, I'm just going to have a cigarette and try to convince myself that you didn't just say that. And how the hell does "KJJJJJ" sound like, I nearly choked on my own tongue trying to make that sound.

Turn on your amp, plug in the chord, but don't plug it in to your guitar, just let it touch the metal.

I think that's what he meant.

I wouldn't say I hate the sound of them, they just don't give the warm and fuzzy yet violent when needed type of tone I like.

I went to the guitar store to ask em if they had the parts that i would need to build mine and they recommended that site, and i must say it isn't all that bad, it has most of the stuff i thought i wouldn't be able to get a hold of.

Yeah it has most of the stuff I want for some sort of weird hybrid Tele, but I am not sure yet wether to build a standard looking one with a bucker in the neck for extra variety, or a really crazy single pickup shredder Kahler equiped one for my pure 80's styled Tele, which would go against most of my own what makes a good guitar rules, but would be cool.

Well whatever you do decide to make, be sure to BUY a neck and not make one, unless your just making a model like i am.
