Is yoshi a female?

We all here people call yoshi a he but he lays eggs. We all know that females give birth and lay eggs, not males. Also he swallows things to make the eggs. So this leaves two possbible conclusions A- Yoshi is a girl and lays eggs. or B- Yoshi's poop looks like an egg, thus making us think he lays eggs.
