Can't you actually tell the time in a 24 hour format?
i prefer the 24 hour format
i live in the u.s.
Digital time is actually a lot easier than am/pm, in my opinion.

Yeah, at first you might need to get used to it. But it's so much more helpful when you are used to it because it's just 4 digits.
Meh, most of U.S. ( I think ) goes by AM/PM so I get ridiculously confused when looking at 24 hour time.
takes me 5 seconds to figure out the 24 hour time
What?
That's a huge generalization, not all americans don't know how to tell time in a 24 hour format.

This.
I prefer hammer time, so I always know what time it is: Hammer Time.
I know what someone means when they use military time, but I grew up with "standard" 12 hour times. So... no.
Life is a performance, and the world is full of critics. Give it your all like it's your last show.
You don't even want to know

I'm not talking about individuals, but as a whole. I mean, I've never seen a 24 hour clock or time stamp when in America.

But you don't say 24.00, you say 00.00. There is no 24.00.
Well to be fair I know some people here in the UK who struggle with the 24 hour clock. Of course it's weird that they find it hard to understand but yeah it's a universal thing I suppose. Some people get it, others don't.
What we can conclude from this thread:
Some Americans can't use it. Others can.
Some English people can't use it. Others can.
Some people can use it, others can, now we need to do a proper poll or something to find out the percentage that can and can't in the US and the percentage for the UK.
You on it?
I prefer military time but the 12 hour format is so incredibly easy to read. And no one know what the fuck you're talking about if you respond, "It's 18oo hours" when they ask you the time.

I call it that because you know exactly what I mean. It shortens the title.

Do most people use 12:00 where you are?

No, no, no. If it says "18:00" you say it's 6 O'Clock (silly American).
I think doing 24 hour time is just taking another step into figuring it out, because you first have to look at it, erase 12 from the hours' side and examine it as PM or AM.
I do this, of course, if the time is 13:00 or higher
What?
The 24 hour time tends to be something Americans let soldiers learn and don't think they need for themselves.
I agree 24 hour is better but if you've learned am/pm its kinda hard to catch on at first.
24 hour time is stupid, hence why the UK and places similar only use it, and the military, but the military is stupid too, so...
Yeah, whatever.

24 hour is easier, but It takes me a moment to figure out what time it is. I'll see 19:00 and think 9 PM, and then I'd realise my mistake
Don't be afraid of failure.

..You're an idiot.
The 24 hour clock system is more commonly used around the world than the 12 hour clock system.

Yes, but then you get used to it. Your mind will eventually master it & your responses will be automatic.
13:00 - 1 O'Clock
14:00 - 2 O'Clock
15:00 - 3 O'Clock
16:00 - 4 O'Clock
17:00 - 5 O'Clock
18:00 - 6 O'Clock
19:00 - 7 O'Clock
20:00 - 8 O'Clock
21:00 - 9 O'Clock
22:00 - 10 O'Clock
23:00 - 11 O'Clock
24:00 - 12 O'Clock
the 2400 clock is used in medical facilities.
gotta brush up on that before i start my clinical

I do this actually. Thinking that 13:00 is 3 o'clock, and then correcting myself. Now i'm beggining to master it though, and have got into my head that I just subtract 12 from the number to get the time. For example...
13 - 12 = 1. So it's 1 o'clock.
It's easy when you think about it. Yet it's understandable why some people don't like it and / or don't use it. It can be a bit of a mind fuck, especially to older people since they're not use to this "24-Hour" format :)
