A step away from traditional Apple ideas in their product, way to go! It's kinda funny though ..
"makes the dream of video calling a reality" - I had video calling on my phone five - six years ago.
"features a 5 megapixel camera" - With a small lens too, yawn.
"HD video recording" - Had it in my phone for a year.
..but it's a step in the right direction, great!

That article says it's got a 5mp camera with flash and records in 720p.
Not wanting to be sarcastic, but OMG it's only taken them years to finally hear the complaints! What would be the point of having a camera on a smartphone if it's going to be terrible? I'd rather not have it.
It's $199 for the 16gb, $299 for the 32gb. Why not just give it 16gb with expandable SD and they could have up to 40gb? Like (at the minimum) samsung and nokia have already done.
It's got the Ipad's 1ghz processor, so they're still pinching samsung's hardware? Why can't they build their own? But HTC beat them to the punch.
The rest is interesting, but we'll have to wait and see when it's released.
No mention of multitasking of third part apps. But be hopeful.

If you look at the presentation video, it clearly shows the user using Mail, Photo (I think) and Tap Tap revolution at the same time. So that's a yes.

That's a pre-release model. I also didn't spell party right. So yes, it does answer my question but not about third parties because I don't think any of the ones you listed are.
But like someone else said, at least it's in the right direction.

Maybe. I thought it was just a subdivision of Apple since it only makes Iphone apps.

There's probably a reasonable (as well as luxurious perhaps?) explanation. Previous iphones had aluminum on the back which led to wifi problems, and the next gen ones had plastic backs which get scratched very easily

I'm getting a 3GS on Wednesday cause prices are dropping and iPhones 4 will be horrendously overpriced in the UK.

You are getting confused. Amount of megapixels does not relate to image quality. We simply do not have the technology to affordably put a good image censor in such a small device. There is no such thing as a good phone camera and there won't be for years.

So first they release a bigger IPhone and now they're going to release a new IPhone which has all new materials? My god the whole organization must just be paid to goof off all day if this is the best idea they can come up woth.

For years? Camera's are starting to get TV style HD quality, it would probably be a year or so before it shrinks to the phone.

Unfortunately again, the amount of pixels does not equal quality. Sure, phones can record "high definition" in terms of image size, but the quality is still shit.

I might actually buy the iTouch HD, but I'm not going to buy a phone and not use the phone part of it.
