Wow, when did Harry Kewell get so hot?
Maybe I just failed to notice when he was at Liverpool as I hate anyone involved with that team.
Still.. come on Ghana!

I assume slow starts are the norm, but at this point it seems like very few teams have it wrapped up completely in situations that were supposed to be a lock. Is it a result of the lower ranked countries being stronger than they have been in years? Do countries like England and France have too many star that are incapable of playing as a team? Or is it just a freak year where all the one in a million upsets are piling up?
In some cases, extremely defensive play has compacted scorelines that many predicted would be much more extensive. Brazil were expected to thrash one of the 'joke teams', North Korea, but NK played with almost everyone at the back, bar one striker. Switzerland did a similar bit with Spain, as did Japan for the earlier part of the game today. It just seems to be a similar tactic because the supposedly more stronger teams haven't figured out any alternatives to it, if they're fighting for a win.
England and France on the other hand have just played poorly. It may be the case that they just can't communicate as a team - England certianly looked lack they were lacking it last night. France just look plain impassionate, whether that's because of the manager or not. The fact that they cheated to qualify probably didn't help.
Though one of the few 'excuses' that makes sense is the fact that this is the first winter World Cup since Argentina '78. It was just said that Ghana may struggle due ot the temperature.
Australia seem a lot more psyched today, going off the pre-match vibe and opening minutes.

Australia were 1-0 up after a good set piece play...
... and then Kewell got sent off (these guys can't catch a break) and Ghana equalied with a penalty.
Oh dear, but yay!

To be fair, it was a blatant handball.

Ghana - Australia is a lot more interesting than the former match.
After 25 minutes it's 1-1 after a mistake from the Ghanaian goalie and a penalty for Ghana. I don't know if Kewell really deserved to be sent off. Yes he touched the ball with his arm, but he kept his arms next to his body so you can wonder how much purpose was involved.
It's probably best for Germany if Australia wins, but I doubt that's gonna happen now.

Oh yeah, there was no arguing about it, though he thought differently.
It's just that, first Cahill, now Kewell! Australia unfortunately don't seem to have a great defence to fall back on.

replace de jong with van der vaart, put elia on the left flank and get robben on the right flank.
That Schwarzer save was so good, it went out for a goal kick!
Ghana have a good attack setup going on, unlucky so far with them not being too complete. I think they still have the upperhand now.
Half time: Ghana 1, Australia 1.

On a slightly unrelated note, some dude in Yahoo Answers actually thinks Koman's call was legit. I could post the link but I won't for his safety because I'm a nice guy.
You could look it up if you want.
Anyway if this guy gets to ref the rest of the tournament I'll be surprised but then again...

If it's "defaced" then he gotten off somewhat easy.
I think it was vandalized more severely and they chose the more mild one.

How many times have people at the back been caught out now?!
1-0 to Cameroon
Fab!
hfg
Cameroon 1, Denmark 0.
This is not the same Cameroon I saw play Japan a few days ago. They're much sharper already. Apparently they've had issues to battle, but they all look much happier already. That's not saying that Denmark are out though, they need it too. And we're only eleven minutes in.
It's going to be a scramble for that second place.
Danish equaliser! It had to go in, great little bit of play.
The game is open again. You wouldn't have thought that there were Mexican waves earlier and some guy trying to do a lap of honour through the crowd (he was stopped by a steward fornot having a ticket into the next section :( ).

Ironically the worst defending in the tournament so far is leading to the most exciting game of the tournament so far. Incredible stuff, glad I tuned in to this match!
I agree with you guys - the many errors and open feel have made this game so fun to watch. So many sitters missed. It's only 1-1 at half time.
The ITV commentator claimed it was 'like Keystone Kops'. There's a phrase that needs to become more popular when referring to a football match like this.

How sad Cameroon is on the verge of being the first team eliminated from the World Cup. I felt they were much better than Denmark but they've just had some unfortunate slip ups. However, I'll give the Danish some credit, they've really surprised me and I honestly didn't think they would do anything.
Also, I've been gone for awhile so I need to say a big ha ha to Spain and France for both losing.
Argentina 2-0

I feel very sorry for Cameroon, they had so many chances and were so close at many times. Now they are eliminated. Good game, Cameroon.
As they say "It's looking gloomy on the Cameroonian bench" ...

I think Cameroon were the better team for the best part of the match too. It's a huge shame that they're the first to go. There's still some African hope, but it just lost a greater part of itself again, like when South Africa lost to Uruguay. Denmark capitalised on what they had though, and were betterr off for it. Cameroon just plain struggled to finish their attacks - some of them were dreadful. Both teams were greatly improved though, so good work.
Denmark-Japan should be interesting now, as they fight for second place.

Cameroon-Denmark was a great match. It sucks all soccer matches aren't like that one.
There are times I wonder and times I don't; I think you fall into the latter.

Ah shite, and I didn't watch it because I thought it would be boring...
Anyway, I'm beginning to think that goalies might have a point, complaining about the ball..it can't be that almost every single goalie so far had some trouble catching the ball into his hands and KEEPING it just because they had a bad day..
The saddest thing is that if the ball was "normal", we'd probably have even less goals than we currently do...

Kingston is the David James of Cameroon, so to speak.
I mean, it's just a fucking BALL, there's nothing fancy about it. Just a plain and round ball, nothing more. Plus how long can it take to get used to it?
