I'm predicting 3-1 Cameroon and the Japanese coach committing seppuku at midfield afterwards.

I agree with the guy who posted above me, it's not exactly the most entertaining game so far, hope this changes before half time.

Scrappy game and a bit of scrappy goal but Japan 1-0 up through Honda.

WOOHOO!! Japan scores!

Anyway, pretty weak game so far, both teams have no idea what to do with the ball, they just mostly make long, unprecise passes. Cameroon better at first, but now Japan is much better.

JAPANESE GOAL!

The commentators are complaining about this game, but it's been better than it sounds. I love how Japan have a disciplined plan - watch how they all react to different modes of play. It's not always effective of course.

Been some exaggerated acting in this game I think :(

Wow, Cameroon plays just horrible... and the Ref is pretty bad as well. There where some scenes where a japanese player fouled a cameroon player but the ref didn't blow his whistle.

Final score, Japan 1, Cameroon 0.

It got better in the second half. Cameroon didn't play greatly at all, and Japan managed to sneak some more attacks in despite their defensive style. First Japanese victory outside of Japan! Woo! Cameroon need to re-organise themselves, especially if they want to get stuff back against Netherlands and Denmark.

If you switched off in the early more boring half, you missed a pretty killer last ten-fifteen minutes.

Interesting last few minutes there. I really want to see a few African teams go through, so I'm a tad disappointed. Well done to Japan though.

The Aussies got there asses flogged 0-4 with a bratwurst by Germany. :( And the ref can shove his red card up his ass.

Looking at all the commentary here I'm glad I skipped most of the match to go studying. I did see the goal and tuned in at the last exciting minutes. Judging from those, it's hard to imagine most of the game was boring.

Anyway Italy - Paraguay is next. I don't know Paraguay's style of play, but I bet they're gonna play defensively just like Italy. I think we're gonna see a 1-0 at most.

Yeah some people said an African team would win the WC this year, but thus far they haven't been playing that well and Ghana is the only team that managed to win a match.

I wonder how far holland will actually come, because around the quarter finals they would have to battle either brazil or argentinia.

Probably Brazil, cuz they will probably become first in their poule too.

They couldn't play Argentina until the semis, they are on the wrong side of the draw. Almost certainly it would be Brazil in the quarters, assuming they both top their groups, though Brazil won't have it all their own way in their group.

Anyway, I was impressed by the Dutch as expected (they were my pre tournament pick to win the whole thing, mainly due to a desire to someone new win the trophy or England, and one of those scenarios is much more likely than the other! I thought the Danes played well too though, especially in the first half. They knew getting anything from that game would be a bonus, but I still think they can beat Japan and Cameroon and take second in that group.

Tonight's game is likely to be dreadful. Italy are on poor form and Paraguay are never the most attack minded side. Hopefully they won't be overawed by their opponents and actually try and win it, rather than feeling that a draw is a good result. Italy are there for the taking.

Too bad I can't keep up with all the matches, since I have classes in the morning... The time when the matches happen in always 8:30, 11:00 and 15:30, while I have classes from 7:10 until 12:40. I even tried my cellphone's radio, but none of the FM stations were airing the game, so I missed both games today... Oh well, at least I get to watch Italy vs. Paraguay.

Which, by the way, should be a pretty interesting game, since both teams have great defenses and effective attacking players. I still don't know if Pirlo will play or not for Italy, and I think he's a key player. And watch out for Santa Cruz in Paraguay.

I'd say this will still end in a draw, maybe 0-0, but still a decent game.

I've never seen Paraguay play football, to be honest, so I can't really estimate what their capabilities are. Italia is pretty good at playing football (they proved that with winning in 2006... they did win that one, right?) so I'm pretty sure that if Paraguay isn't playing well, they'll be screwed. I've pouled 3 - 1, by the way.

Paraguay upsets Italy. Mark it.

Or at the very least a draw.

A combination of wishful thinking, having Paraguay in my WC pool, and general disapproval of Italian faggotry leads me to deduce that a 1:0 Paraguayan victory is the only possible outcome.

Well, gotta represent Europe so I'm rooting for Italy on this one.
Also, what the hell was Van der Vaart doing on that position during the match. Affelay should've been there. Overall kind of weak performance from the Dutchies, although Denmark defended surprisingly well.

Anyone with a Facebook, like this page.

A quote from the page that I liked, in response to a South African posting about how we're being selfish for not wanting to hear the Vuvuzelas.:

"Nothing like words of welcome from a host nation that has opened its doors to different cultures from around the world and then drowned out the cultural expressions of fans from other countries with continual the monotonous blasts from plastic horns."

You're betting that Italy are gonna score three goals? That seems unlikely to me. Italy is well known for playing very defensively and aiming for 1-0 victories.

On top of that they are completely out of shape. In the last few games they lost to Mexico and the matches against Switzerland and Cameroon ended up in a draw. They were victorious versus Sweden with a 1-0 and Cyprus with a 3-2, but those were there only wins in the past seven matches.

Damn, you're right. I actually did that because for as much as I know Italy is an awesome football country and I've never heard of Paraguay playing football. Mmm, I should've checked their practicing matches so I could watch how they're both in shape this time...

Well you are right in that they are a big football country. Their shape before the WC doesn't have to matter, but their general tactics do not promise a lot of goals from their side (unless they have to score).

I'm not saying you're wrong though. I'm just saying I would never bet on such a result in a match with two defensive countries :p

Nah Andrea Pirlo is definitely ruled out against Paraguay.

Ouch, then Italy might have a tough time scoring against Paraguay...

Well, they have a pretty good defense, they qualified in 3rd... And their attack is pretty good as well, although Santa Cruz is scratched, apparently... Still they have a decent football.

WHOA, 1-0 PARAGUAY!

And hey, that foul didn't exist! That's silly...

Anyway, it's been a decent game so far, both teams taking some opportunities, a lot of defensive plays and, of course, shitty vuvuzelas. Bleh, I hope Italy draws this one.
