RIght now I've been keeping the focus on half-assed / galleries / quiz games and submissions that use photographic nudes.
Then let's rid this website of those cheap flashes.
To FULLY enforce things would require going after Frank's Adventure but those games have a real charm and humor that make them feel like part of NG's history... I would actually be tempted to have a contest where artists on the site can make new art for those games, just to make them 100% legit.
Sounds reasonable. Games like Frank's adventure require you to explore around, collect things, do missions and whatnot instead of just asking you to answer trivial questions.
I've been thinking I need to make a BIG post about all this stuff because it's been on my mind a lot this year and I know the rules keep changing as I build up more and more resolve to make changes.
That would be wise. I'm sure there are users that are wondering what the hell is going on with the hentai holocaust. Like Auz, I have seen a topic some time ago where the users are wondering why all these flashes are being blammed. Some were happy to see this while others were not as thrilled.
A few months ago I wouldn't have thought we would have gone THIS FAR with deleting as much as we have, but having done so it feels pretty damn good so it makes me want to keep moving with it.
Awesome. It really feels that we're in some kind of flash revolution.
I understand in the past that porn ads were vital to Newgrounds' survival and likely encouraged others to make quiz games thinking that this was acceptable on the site. That was when the internet as a whole was new and still experimented by the public. Now that times have changed and the internet is bigger, more advanced and more mainstream than ever, we can make do with other kinds of content (thanks to more advanced versions of flash and other programs) and sources of income (like the current online game ads).
I'm really happy that we are going in this direction and I hope the users can understand the reasons for this path we are taken. This also gets me more excited to see the redesign.
