After the redesign and were demodded is a mod going to lock this topic or the small amount of remaining icon mods still going to chill in here.

Stop bringing that up. I mean really, it's annoying.

After we get demodded, there's probably only going to be three or so icon mods remaining. You could easily carry things out by PM when you have three people. Also, I think there won't really be any icon mods left, since icons would be mandatory, and really, all an icon mod's job would be is to stare at ions to see if it's child porn.

Why dont you just try out a different browser? What harm will it do? Im sure if you look far enough, you'll fund something that fits, and you like. Something that doesnt have bugs like IE.

Haha, not choosing a browser because it's owned by one of the most financially successful companies in the world? What the fuck are you smoking, dude? Thats like, an oxymoron. IE is made by Microsoft, you know.

Well, it stil depends on things like hardware, network load, and browser speed, not just bandwidth.

Because I swear that I never, ever had a performance problem that was related to IE (but I did with FF, and a lot of them) and websites load super fast, and that's exactly why I'm not changing it.

Mileage may vary, right? I was saying, that generally, IE has an overall slower loading speed. Could be that the engine running it is slow, maybe it hogs resources, could be anything. But yeah, gnerally.

And I'm not using a browser made by effing Google..or a search engine made by Microsoft for that matter.

What's so bad about using a browser made by Google? Since when has Google done anything bad that caused detriment? When people complain about Google and privacy, it's just hot air. Google's policies are transparent, much more than oh-so-trusted Microsoft's. Google blatantly gives you the option to opt out of their tracking services. When you first start up Chrome, it asks you if you want to be in the anonymous performance tracking program. IE does the exact same thing, so does Firefox and Safari. It's like saying black people are criminals, with complete disregard for any other race.

Now can we please stop talking about this?

It's good discussion. We've been talking about golden auras, icon formats, and software for the last several pages. The browser we use plays an important role of our icon habits.

I'll just stick to cropping with another program until either NG or Microsoft fix this small bug...

Newgrounds probably can't fix it, since the code is standards compliant, and there's no workaround to make it work of IE. IE9 supposedly has much better standards, but until it comes out of beta, you're stuck with IE8. Of course, you can download Chrome Frame for IE. Whenever IE can't load a page correctly, Chrome Frame displays the page instead. And don't say anything about Google, since if Microsoft or Mozilla made it, no one would ever complain.

Oh, by the way, to whoever told me that .png works best: no.

:(

When I save files as .png's, they're about 40% bigger than .jpg's...and I have trouble keeping a 100% quality jpg under 7kb in the first place...

What icons are they? As I said in my essay, the file size will depend on the amount of detail in the icon.

NOW, I'm not angry or anything, but I wanted to make my view of the browsers heard. Huge bias in my rant, I know that, but the "Microsoft idling on success" really is why development of IE was lethargic. There's way more to your experience on the internet than simply your browser, as you said, it can be internet connection, it can be network load, it can be anything. And experience is more accurate than stats, but hey, our feel for each browser is different.

No hard feelings.

Lol, no...it has nothing to do with money...but it would be like wearing Nike watches and Swatch shoes, if you get my point.
(also, that is not exactly what an oxymoron is)

First, I told you, I tried three more browsers..secondly, this is the first IE bug I ever came across, and I don't think that it's such a big deal.

At 10/8/10 04:11 PM, thenewbies wrote: Well, it stil depends on things like hardware, network load, and browser speed, not just bandwidth.

Yeah..but what's your point? It still runs very well, and everyone here is saying the opposite.

What's so bad about using a browser made by Google?

As I said before, it has nothing to do with Google itself as a company, but that Chrome and Bing are just a petty "company war", and I'm not in the mood for that shit...Google for search, and MS for browsers..

It's good discussion. We've been talking about golden auras, icon formats, and software for the last several pages. The browser we use plays an important role of our icon habits.

Oh, well..I just thought that it was slightly out of topic.

Of course, you can download Chrome Frame for IE. Whenever IE can't load a page correctly, Chrome Frame displays the page instead. And don't say anything about Google, since if Microsoft or Mozilla made it, no one would ever complain.

But how would that work? There is Chrome software running behind IE?Wouldn't that indeed make it slower as a whole?

What icons are they? As I said in my essay, the file size will depend on the amount of detail in the icon.

They range from icons with very few colors to ones with lots of details...
I mean, I distinctly remember an icon with no more then 8 bright colors giving me a VERY hard time with file size..I had to remove the background with PaintShop to make it smaller..

NOW, I'm not angry or anything

No hard feelings.

Don't worry, your post didn't look angry at all :p

Something happened with the icon upload page. The browse box used to say the exact path the icon you made was from, but now it says fakepath instead. I bet liljim is up to something.

I noticed earlier that when I uploaded from the icon list that it didn't send me back, but rather to the submission.

Does that happen to anyone else? I haven't had time to retest it out again this evening.

Well, it does make more sense to send icon mods back to the flash they just uploaded an icon for. But OMG, panic over trivial details! The file path is not exact!

But if you're like me and you take screenshots of multiple submissions then upload the icons all at once, it's a bit of a hassle to be taken to the submission page.

Yeah, I have either that "fakepath" bug or the one where you don't see anything at all on the path box...
But if I press "submit" the icon is submitted, so it's no biggie.

Well, as Tom said, the treasure hunt starts this week. With all the flash we've seen as icon/genre mods, I think icon or genre mods might be better prepared to find good, underrated flashes than regular users. Thoughts?

I think that the vet-icon and genre mods would stand a better chance than the newbs like me. :O

To be honest I haven't found much actually. Most of the good stuff I found while icon and genre modding was already very popular at some point. I guess some of those submissions might have been forgotten by now, but they're not something I could bring up as an underrated flash.
