New 140x90 thumbnail format!

Our Flash submit and edit forms now REQUIRE thumbnail submissions (GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, etc.) and the new size is 140 pixels wide by 90 pixels tall. These new sizes will go public in a future update, when we feel enough submissions are being properly represented.

Our system will create a temporary 46x46 thumbnail for new submissions and existing 46x46 icons will remain in use until the big change takes effect.

Please update your old Flash thumbnails!

You will notice your user page now includes a link to your 140x90 icons (here are mine), to make it easier to see which ones need updating. You can also directly access the edit form from your individual submissions. There's a reference image at the bottom of this post.

If you run into any situation where your image upload doesn't work, PM me with the subject "ICON FAIL" and include any error messages you received on the page and a detailed explanation of what happened. Also include your OS and Browser type and version.

Sorry for the extra work... But change is exciting, right????!!

If you don't have time to update your icons, I have made a volunteer thread where you can post requests and users / icon mods will make them for you.

Finally, I'm sure the default tank icon for reddit etc. was affecting the click through rate, hopefully the new icons will improve the "attractiveness" of links. nice to see you're trying to drive even more traffic, let's make newgrounds more popular yay

Blank placeholders are probably put back in until updated later, I'm guessing.
Better than having them stretched out to inappropriate proportions, those pixels.

Art will remain 90x90... Audio will become 90x90 but audio without 90x90 icons will just be a nice CD and not a "missing icon" image. And yeah... The whole CD icon is already outdated I guess.

These new icons make it easier now to give an icon due to more space. You can contain more in it without having to crop it down to nothing and force it in the 46x46 area.
