hey dont you hate it when someone else uses your computer just for the internet? if they press the first letter of a word suddenly firefox gives you the most often used site that starts with that letter. that is OK when you type n for newgrounds but for other sites that is unacceptable...is there a way to prevent history from saving on some sites? thank you

Disable history in Tools.

I figured every FireFox user would know this, SEEING AS HOW IT'S THE MOST SUPERIOR WEB BROWSER IS EXISTENCE, AND SURPASSES GOD HIMSELF.

I'm not sure if you can prevent it from saving history on certain sites, but you can set it to not save history by going to Tools>Options>Privacy>Never remember history and then saving your settings. Alternatively, if you really want to browse certain sites without it keeping history of them, you could start private browsing and then open the page.

Most anti virus programs have an option where you can have it sweep or erase your browsing history after you close your browser, every time.

I do it manually, using a complete disk clean up, pretty often.

Then what the others have said: Internet Options, under Tools has something similar. It will depend on your browser. I'm on Opera at the moment, and it's under the Tools tab. I don't use FF as often.

I have to do the same thing. Every time my friends come over they search my history to see what I've been fapping to.
Its pretty annoying, but kinda funny when they read the titles out loud.

I don't know of any way to selectively clear your history of visited websites. It's pretty much all or nothing. Now, there are various private browsing addons you can download that will not record your history during that browsing session.

I always auto-clear everything on exit anyways, anything I ever want to visit is stored in bookmarks, and you can configure it to where bookmarks show up, but not browsing history, as you type into the address bar. Just finagle with the privacy and such, you'll figure it out.

to add on what other people are saying, under tools you can switch to private browsing and vice versa in case you want to go on a site that you don't want others finding out about. Such as masturba......I mean shopping for Christmas presents

Make an html page with links to your "secret' pages and drop the html into firefox whenever you need them. Also, have your browser delete all your history when it closes.

and by secret, I mean porn.

You don't even have to delete the history to stop the site appearing in the Awesome Bar, as it's called in Firefox. What you need to do, is go to Tools, Options, and then Privacy. Once you've got that far, change the Location Bar setting to "Nothing". Ensure you don't have your sites bookmarked as well or it'll be useless to do anything.
