My room has way too distractions. And i'm sure all you guys do as well.

So i have an idea. One day, of you want to get writing done, take a USB port, a public computer (preferably one that has student blocks) or a personal computer with not much on it, and just write. Have some books for reference, maybe take a wikipedia break every so often.

It's one of my biggest problems, to the point where i only write a few lines at a time, and if i just do this Monastery Mode, i think it might be beneficial.

Good Idea? Bad Idea?

Distractions aren't always a bad thing; they can be sources of inspiration. I have lots of story ideas that spawned after seeing a picture, listening to a song, reading an article...
But what you are considering isn't a bad idea either.

Eh, I don't usually get distracted by too many things to do. If anything, it's the internet that takes most of my attention away, but I don't want to sacrifice that because without the internet, I don't have my thesaurus.com or all-access pass to almost any research source.

Most of the times, though, I'm distracted by my own thoughts becoming derailed so that I start musing or daydreaming over irrelevant things. That's when I get out a pack of gum and some music.

Usually, I find that I either am in the mood and I'll keep writing no matter what happens or I'm not in the mood and the slightest little thing will take my attention away. Personally, I don't like writing in the later condition because I don't feel like my writing will come out as good. So, in those instances, I stop and come back to it later.
