I got Windows 7, used IE 7 for a while. It ran like crap. Changed to Google Chrome and it was awesome

IE sucks. Firefox for the win firefox has loads of addons plus is more common among the general croud of people here. Google chrome is ok too but it has its issues im sure if you read up about it im sure youll see what I mean.

Preference is preference, there is no real better browser. If you're not sure which one, try both of them out. The one you find suitable for you is the one you'll want. I prefer Firefox myself, but I can live with other browsers.

If you want to get every click and website visit you ever make collected and analyzed by google, get Chrome.
If you want to use add-ons etc, then go for FireFox.
If you don't want/need to use add-ons then go Opera cos it's insanely fast and user friendly, but it also has lots of features as well e.g. java element inspection and a lot more.

Opera is better. Switched to it from Firefox many years ago, also tried Chrome but it's not better.
** NOTE - I _have_ used recent Firefox and Chrome releases as well.

Download and install both. Then see which one you like better.
Personally I would keep both in case one of the browsers acts like a jackass.

The browser I prefer is Google Chrome. It offers a bunch of sweet add-ons plus it is generally the fastest browser. But, the best part is how much of the screen it leaves open.

^This.
I really prefer Firefox. It's fast and it has a lot of useful add-ons. Firefox is the safest and most useful browser of all.

I personally like Chrome better because on all of the computers I've tried it on, it's been significantly faster than Firefox. I don't hate FF as I have it for a few add-ons but not for regular browsing.
Plus the Google Chrome bookmark synchronizer really saved my ass when my computer fucked up for like 2 months. I was able to get all of my wonderful bookmarks back and frequent all the sites I like regularly again.
