I like the butterfly, and the stem and base of the glass, but I'm not digging the wash that is around the butterfly. Maybe its the look of it, maybe its the light in the back over powering some of the colors...

Dude, please do not use the lens flare filter in Photoshop. I know it's tempting to get yourself a light source without effort, but trust me; it sucks.

Your right about the lens flare. In fact, I used it because I was too damn lazy to make background, otherwise it has shading of it's own. It is full of flaws and will never see the portal. I kinda wanted to see it I could use a lens flare and work it in well. The answer is no. But you are absolutely right, it sucks.

A Beer Stein I made for my step dad's b-day. It's an etching of Cinnamon, my parents pet Spice Finch of 8 years that passed the other day.

Commission piece for my friend. As payment he gave me a copy of Bioshock. This is oddly how I get most my video games nowadays. Vault Boy getting down. Also is stuff like this portal worthy? I mean I do heavily reference. use templates (That I draw) and sometimes trace straight onto the glass. I had asked this before as I am unsure of the line. etching is by no means easy. Using a high powered rotary tool to draw even if it's tracing a template is no walk in the park.

I'd say yes, you can portal it.
Just list it under "other", but first try to get a better shot of it.

Trust me, there is a reason it is at an angle Jonny. Socks, I've tried that before it doesn't look to good. The biggest problem is glass glares. Even in sunlight. I agree the pics could use work but with the shitty camera I have to work with and the lack of photography knowledge , this is the best I can come up with. For now at least. I'll try some other things and try and get a better shot.

Take it down to your basement, shut off all the lights, and give it some custom lighting with lamps/flashlights/whatever until you've got something you're happy with.

Looks like you need to diffuse the light. Maybe hang a white sheet in front of your lighting.

That sounds like a good idea. I will do that with the next piece. This one has a destination to get to soon, so I do not have time to set that up for this one. But I will definitely give that a shot Jonny.

The basement lighting Idea failed. So until I figure out what I'm doing wrong, these pics will have to do. Also Cuebone. The Batman of Pokemon.

Da fuck, don't you people have day jobs?
I at least have an excuse... its my lunch break... for another few minutes anyway...

Anyway, Bob, I like the Cubone. But I have been thinking more about your lighting troubles rather than the art its self.

No offense... damn it you know what I mean.

Anyway have you tried more of a diffused light rather than direct lighting? Also how about a powerful fill light to compliment the key light?

just my two cents...
So back to work slags!

It's the glass, it glares at everything. I suppose if I sunk money and time (That I don't have) then yes I could get the lighting better. Mainly it's time. As you stated with the day job bit, why yes I do that's why I have very little time. Also the camera is a huge factor. On the plus side my Etsy has exploded with all time high traffic. On the negative that hasn't quite led to sales...

Well yes, they are very clean because I used the creme not the tool. The tool has it's place, but some jobs absolutely demand the creme.
