So I set out for school, shutting down my PC before I leave, when I come back, I get this crap:

A disk read error has occured press ctrl alt del to restart

No matter how many times, same message.
So my dad takes a look at it, runs check disk from safe mode.

finds two errors. same message as before when trying to boot normally.

Removes cards one by one to see if that is the problem.

My secondary gfx card running as physX has one blown capacitor.
We remove it. PC works perfectly

Next day, we replace it with a brand new card.

See error message above,

We remove new card

see error message above
I think god is messing with me...

nothing's replacing DX9 very soon, not as long as most people still use Windows XP (including me, as my windows partition only has 30GB and I still want at least one game on it).

I do have the Windows XP version of DX10 though.

when I ran Vista, my MacBook started protesting (by not installing shit).
when I ran XP, my MacBook started blue screening so bad it required reinstall of Windows...

now I run XP and OS-X in perfect harmony...

You think that's bad? The piece of shit I'm typing on right now can't even tolerate warm weather.

Seriously, every time it gets warm in my house the thing just crashes. Last time it did this It crashed so badly it couldn't even spit out the usual blue screen "Windows has fucked itself" message.

The worst bit? This has nothing to do with Windows. It's a design flaw in the heat sink system, that has resulted in so many overheating-related crashes it's buggered some of its RAM, so now it can randomly crash whenever I'm doing anything more than minimally taxing on it. >:(

Protip: Perhaps you shouldn't just go fucking around in your registry or your msconfig unless you know what you are doing.

You are probably going to need to repair your version of windows with your install disk
(which is NOT the same as reformatting, and you get to keep all your shiz)

Don't be such a noob next time, and blame it on your OS, either.

Laptop.

I didn't blame my OS lol. And when it comes to computers, I am far from a noob, me and my dad built it together. This was the only time we have ever been confused as to what is going on with my computer.

Anyways.

Problem solved, my hard disk which had the OS on it was dying, and it only ran well when warmed up, bought new one. Cloned, got my old vista disk, and repaired it.

Boots quickly now.

Never before have I seen my computer run so fast...
