Robot Day, July 10th

July 10th will be ROBOT DAY here on Newgrounds, as suggested by MindChamber!

This day will be a celebration of all things robotic, with movies, games, music, art and literature entries welcome. Remember, THE THEME IS ROBOTS.

The best entry in each category (movie, game, music, art, writing) will win $250.

The most epic collaborative effort will receive an additional $500 teamwork prize to be split amongst the participants. This is not intended for traditional collabs where each person makes an individual piece and chains them together. Instead your collaborative work should be a single game or movie with multiple talents involved in the production (script, voice, music, art, etc.).

If you are part of a collaborative entry you can submit your music, art or writing individually on Robot Day and also be eligible for the $250 category prize.

We will probably make some sort of robot day badge you can stick on your loading screen to highlight the event. You can get your games sponsored but it would be cool if you still slapped a ROBOT DAY promo on them to promote the event. More on that as we come up with something.

Your entry will be disqualified if it uses commercial music, so make your own music or check out the Audio Portal!

Please include a "RobotDay2010" tag in any movie, game or art submissions. Audio submissions should include "RD2010" in the title. Writing submissions can be posted in the Writing Forum, where we'll create a Robot Day lit thread on July 9th in preparation.

Winners will also receive hand-made tin can robot trophies to commemorate the event.

So that's about it... If you like robots, help us make July 10th special!

Perhaps in a few years when Robot Day becomes this big event, but right now i have a feeling that there won't be nearly as big a turnout as you're shooting for.. Maybe, i mean i could be wrong though. Though at the same time, you guys are putting quite a bit of effort into this with cash prizes and tin-can trophies, perhaps this shall bode quite well for participants and grow a crowd relatively fast :D

Oh wow a robot day is a fantastic idea congrats Mindchamber for bringing that up and thanks tom for always making newgrounds a wonderful and entertaining site, so i have something to do at work well besides work heh.
