3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsI've never used an ACER but everytime I've bought a motherboard for a computer I've made it's been a ASUS and I've yet to have one fail.
I've only made 4 computers though so I don't have to much experience,
Friends and family I have known to get Acers have had reliability problems, hardware stopping working, etc, never heard of the other one from anyone else though, so I recommend that one.
My Gallery of Art, I hope you enjoy the little effort I've put in.
Everyone has a photographic memory... Just not everyone has film!
i have two lcd monitors
one is an acer and it's garbage
i don't know about notebooks though
I'm on an Acer right now and I can say, it's not insanely powerful but it has some balls. Do some research.
Originality isn't original.

i have an acer and im somewhat satisfied, the only thing i don't like is its
1.) a laptop
2.)it has only one processor,
but otherwise, its just like any computer ever made
I have an Acer Aspire 5315, it gets the job done internet wise... gaming - NO
The gangsta life might just be the life for me!
I'm typing on an Acer Extensa 4630z right now, but if you have the choice then go for ASUS. They're known mainly for their superior motherboards, but their other products are pretty good too.
My grass went emo, so now I don't have to cut it anymore.
Anyone up for some Team Fortress 2??
Sig pic stolen from this person.
Just get a nice Dell or splurge and get an AlienWare. Trust me, if there is one thing you don't wanna try to be cheap in it would be computers.
For I am and forever shall be... a master ruseman.
Let me learn u good about acer, and the history of some crappy computer companies...
Gateway made shitty computers for an available price.
Gateway was the bargain crap you saw in BestBuy...
Gateway bought eMachines...
eMachines was the bargain crap you saw in BestBuy...
Acer bought Gateway...
Acer is now the bargain crap you see in Best Buy.
look it up if you don't believe me.
ASUS, on the other hand, is high quality and performance, and has a decent price range.
To compare the two companies is like comparing apples with dog shit.
I have no problem with my ASUS. Games, internet, office software, graphic- and sound edition, everything is good!

I don't know about ASUS, but Acer is an insult to the computer world. My aunt ended up buying an Acer and it broke pretty damn fast.
This too will pass.
Memento mori
I saw an ASUS at a Best Buy once, it was epic, but be prepared to shell out a grand for that thing.
I've had two Acers and they work like a dream. The Gateway laptop I have with a intel core i3-330m processor I have for just kicks is fantastic. Acer is involved with it. My old desktop I had for 4 years was a dream too. Don't believe everything you hear. People abuse their computers and go to shitty virus infested websites and open virus infested e-mails. THAT'S WHY THEIRS TURNED INTO JUNK. Keep a fucking paid virus system running on your computer and it will be fine.

chix w/dix make me hard.
I have an ASUS G72gx, it runs every game I put through it, Modern Warfare 2 at full settings no problem.
Hyperspace Whales!
I've had an Acer computer:
sucked
I've had an Asus graphics card:
SUCKED!!!
I've never really heard of an Acer product that hasnt failed miserably. My dad has spent hundreds of dollars replacing just about every piece of hardware in his acer desktop because it all keeps failing.
I'd go with Asus, it has a much better reputation.
Acer is horrible, they're bloody unreliable and fall apart more often than not. Try and stay away from Acer if you can.
I don't usually judge a computer model by brand because it's all about the hardware anyways. But my one beef with acer is that, the last motherboard I had with them was a socket 775, I built my friend a PC with the same board but a different CPU that was socket 775 and it wouldn't run. Acer locked there board or something which was a piss off.
I'm on an ASUS right now and I can tell you that they are great for gaming. Mine runs Dragon Age: Origins, Lost Planet 2, WoW (say what you must), and many other games with most of the video settings at high or a little lower. The only two problems I've had were internet connectability and the heat output. The funny thing about the internet problem was not that the computer couldn't connect, it was that the router couldn't connect and now that we have it upgraded, it NEVER disconnects, even across the house. As for the heat, sometimes it's a little much but it really depends on the limits you take your computer to.

one tip though: never go with a brand you've never heard of, I know someone who did and told me:
"hey, I'm not spending $500 on a brand".
a couple of weeks ago he wanted to show me something on his laptop, it took him 3 tries to even boot the thing up...
I had an acer laptop, it wasn't too bad, until i had a board fault, only lasted 16 months or so.
I had a Clevo before (they make the laptops for Asus, or they used to at least) and it was the best laptop I ever had.
I then had an Acer Aspire of similar specs as the Clevo and found the performance to be woeful. This was a few years ago which in laptop terms is a lot but it seems acer dont update the chasis or cooling systems of their laptops and simply jam in the highest spec components. End result being a low price high spec low performance and more importantly low life expectancy machine.
I just ordered an Asus N-Series last night. I have high hopes.

from my experience acer's stuff tends to be cheaply made garbage. i've got an asus monitor tho it looks high quality, and it performs like it.
