A Steam problem.

As you all know, steam is out for mac.
I downloaded portal, due to it's freeness.
But there is a problem: Every time i try to open it to play, it starts to verify and then closes, saying "The steam servers are too busy to handle your request. Please try again later."
Looked on the internet, many are having this problem.
I deleted clientregistry.blob and it still didnt open. uninstalled and reinstalled steam, still not working. Anyone else having this problem?

That's one reason I'm sticking to my windows side of bootcamp. The Mac one is going to be so buggy and steam isn't going to give a shit about it because... well, Macs. You really should just get bootcamp going, which is what I did, you can play pretty much anything at full graphics on a mac without any problems.

I am not having this problem now, however; I did have this problem on the day Steam was released for Mac OS X. I just waited about an hour and it was resolved.

Just a heads up, if you don't have Snow Leopard, Don't download it.

Is this what it looks like for anybody but me? It says it finished downloading, so will I just have to wait it out? It's been like this for a week.

That's one thing I've been wondering: does running it on Snow Leopard (10.6.3) or Leopard (10.5.8) really make a difference? I mean yeah, Portal is really slow on my Leopard compared to Windows 7 on the same machine, but would upgrading to Snow Leopard really improve it at all?

This seems to happen with huge updates with Steam. You may have to wait a few days for the servers to have space for a wood nymph to fit in them.

i downloaded it the day it went free and waited about 4 hours before the download even started
