Could you imagine Microsoft attempting to make a handheld? It'd be a smart investment, as Sony and Nintendo have handhelds, and they're rather successful. So come one NG'ers, what would it be like if Microsoft made a handheld!

It would fail, just like the PsP. Not because the games would be bad but becasue Microsoft is incapable of making a working product.

The PSP didn't fail, but it didn't win, either. It's hard to go up against Nintendo in the handheld gaming market, since they've been dominating it since 1989. The PSP did a pretty good job in the fight, though, and to that I commend Sony.

I don't really think Microsoft should even enter the handheld market. They're making tons of money on Windows and the Xbox 360 already. But, if those money-grubbers want more, they'll more than likely enter for the sole purpose of making even moar moneys.

It does good in Japan. Good in europe, and Decent in the USA.

If microsoft released a handheld, I think that would just be dumb. They'd be tackling on another area that they have no experience with. I mean they already tried making the Zune HD a feasible gaming device, but not enough people bought it.

Also, it'd probably RROD somehow. :D

They should focus on the 360 and PC.

It's Microsoft we're talking about here. They're already trying to out do Steam. Give it time.

PSP was not a failure. It wasn't a success either. it was Sony trying to go into a dangerous market, and while it lasted for a while, was inevitably slaughtered by the Nintendo DS.

And that very same beatdown of the PSP via Nintendo is probably the reason why the money grabbing monster known as Microsoft has not ventured into the Handheld market, out of fear for a similar fate.

I don't see Microsoft moving into the handheld area much further than their Zune product. They have hinted a few times that it would not be worth their while and their just isn't enough marketshare. Between the DS, PSP and iPhone there really is no reason for MS to jump in the game.

well, they should learn from the others failures. They should make both a downloadable and hard copy version of games, and have powerful enough specs, but keeping the unit able to fit in a pocket. Other ideas would be having both internal and external memory, both a touchscreen and controls, with TWO control sticks, and interchangeable batteries. maybe even be able to support Xbox live party chat (Would be awesome to talk to friends while not even being on your Xbox 360), and a web browser. even able to plug in to a xbox 360 (Buy a game for it, get a free thing for a 360 game). i'd kind of imagine a cross between an iPod touch, a psp, and a controller with TWO control sticks. maybe even have some functionality with their Zune (maybe even be a Zune player built in, like an Ipod touch also has an iPod)

self-assertivenss through nitpicking is as a smartass does

the patently obvious is still not nitpicking, try again

Yes it does, you're making up a goddamn definition for "smart-ass"

Someone who is sacastic, in a cutting yet witty manner. A person capable of making a remark that could be interpreted as a insult or a joke depending on the sensitivity of the listener and the specific situation. A smart ass is not necessarily a bad person just usually perceptive.

By pointing out Microsoft does not make PCs (but in fact make an OS and other items) you are being sarcastic in a cunning, yet witty manner.

Fuck off, you smart ass.

Before calling someone a "stupid shit" make sure you don't sound like one.

Very is both an adverb and an adjective.

Highly doubt that, in 2007 they had SHIPPED 40 Million, sold way less, and that was in their heyday.

the PSP is for sale in more places than the U.S. you know. It's sales are actually around 65 million, a little more than that. There is insame demand for handhelds in Japan, and PSP does pretty good in europe as well.

Nintendo DS is still way ahead though. something like 120 million.
