Anyone know a way to make FF not be such a resource hog?

180MB resource hog? Most applications use that. I had resource problems with firefox, it was using over 1GB of ram, 10x what you're seeing.

If your saying it takes up loads of memory then I doubt there is anything you can do about it, I'm sure it's the same for most people.

Crap! And to think I was using FireFox a couple months ago with only 1 GIG of ram. Now I have 3 and it's taking that to its advantage.

Pfft.

firefox
%cpu: 0.3
%mem: 13.3

Mem: 1478400k total, 1425188k used, 53212k free, 51652k buffers
Swap: 4466160k total, 1984k used, 4464176k free, 934068k cached

That's what, ~200mb? Not that bad. Konqueror eats a comparable amount of memory just by being open and having a few tabs, whereas I have eight tabs, a pile of RSS feeds, NoScript, and who knows what else running on this. (Konqueror also eats like 20% of my CPU, which is one of the many reasons I fucking hate KDE, but that's a different problem.)

Uninstall all your addons and themes and whatever else you're dangling off it.

You are completely stupid for even attempting it. I only saw it work once, and that's only if it did and the person didn't just say "fuck newgrounds"

Mine's running on about 150mb of ram. I have a dell dimension from like 2005 and I'm still able to keep on trucking.

Think its due to the number of addons you have?

There's a tweak in about:config. Firefox does have pretty epic memory leaks.

Look for config.trim_on_minimize in the Filter bar and turn it to TRUE.
Look for browser.cache.memory.enable and set it to TRUE.
Right click go to New>Integer and make browser.cache.memory.capacity. For every GB of RAM you have, put in 16384, so 1GB is 16384 and 4GB is 65536.

Yeah. The process will only take up a fourth of that, but there will be 20 more of them.
