Small Jap-like Apartments In Usa

With the economy how it is now, and how overpopulated some cities are.. Why is it the USA isn't trying to build some Japanese-like apartments where they're basically a tiny ass room to shit & sleep in?

I would love the idea (and so would others I'd imagine) to rent a tiny box like that at a much lower price than a regular apartment. Like not long term, but it'd be great for college students, or people hurting financially. They could retrofit some regular apartment buildings I bet and get like double occupancy. It'd be cool for people who don't have many possessions and just need a minimal room to sleep in and then spend most time elsewhere.

Yeah, I could see how such a small living space might be beneficial. Like if you're poor or spend 20+ hours on the internet, you might as well have a small ass house.

While there is no direct relation found, I think that the cramped conditions in Japan might contribute to their morbid suicide and depression rate per person. Ohwell lol.

That kind of thing might be what they strive for over there. Like smoking is encouraged there because it helps people get cancer and die so there's room for more Japanese people.
