there are good songs and bad songs in every genre. If you're going to complain about MUSIC of all things, something you actually have a choice about whether of not to listen to, then you're mostly just complaining for no reason. this goes for ALL genres.

What exactly IS real metal? I listen to Anthrax, Slayer, and Dethklok. I never really bothered checking to see if they were REAL metal.

Also, unlike you metal idiots who despise or loathe genres as a whole, I try finding good things about genres I constantly make fun of, like metal. It's funny when I ask metalheads what their favorite metal band is, and it turns out to be something with a core at the end and unintelligible singing backed by extremely rudimentary music only focused on being loud.

I like certain metal bands because they balance heaviness and the overall quality of their music, like how they use friendly scales like the major scale and such, how they have real singers and how their heaviness is calculated and integrated with the melodies.

And how their lyrics aren't fucking stupid.

If people think Kayne West is talented as a rapper, you guys are the ones feeding his massive ego. Hip hop/rap sucks. Rucks where it is at. Not the metal screeming, not the emo music, not the new crap like Bullet for My Valentine, which is shit. The old stuf is best, like Aerosmith. You guys need a better taste in music.

Seems to me the people defending "metal" don't know what metal is. Most of them just dropped some metalcore, deathcore etc. names and tried to pass it off for metal. Metal is Iron Maiden, Sodom, Death, Black Sabbath, Exodus, Destruction, etc. NOT As I Lay Dying etc. As for the topic, I have respect for old school rap, I have Wu-Tang's Enter the Wu-tang for example which I think is an awesome record. However, it seems Hip-hop like metal, has grown stagnant over the years.

Can I just put an end to this by saying that ALL styles of music basically say the same things, it is just a different style of music. That's all. Music is music. Period. If the person doing it sounds like someone you wouldn't like as a PERSON, then you are obviously not going to like him or her as a MUSICIAN.

People sing about the same things in rock as they do in rap. They just word it differently. MOST of the time, this is a true statement. So don't pull something out of your ass to try and refute this statement.

Personally, I don't like rap. Why? Because I don't like the people they remind me of. I don't like loud people who demand respect without giving it back.

I'm more of a rock guy. But even I don't like that hardcore screaming stuff. Not for any other reason than I just don't think it's good. For me to like a song, it has to be catchy and simple and hooky. That's why I'm a grunge fan. I like the pop and punk rock mix. Nirvana is my favorite, not because they were the cool band to be into, shit, I was 8 when Kurt died. I like that kind of music because it speaks to me. I don't care how many people put me down for it either.

Rap doesn't speak to me. I'm not a wigger or a black guy living in a shitty neighborhood. I live in a house, not an apartment with cops and drive-bys. It just doesn't apply to me.

Country music doesn't apply to me because I don't live that lifestyle.

But I am however a white guy raised by parents who listened to punk rock. I was raised to be accustomed to that sound. Therefore, I like grunge, which is merely post-punk but not exactly to the point of being completely emo. I don't wear make up or anything. I don't dress like a new-aged goth kid or something. I just listen to what sounds good to me. Period. It's music. It's art. I even listen to some other rap and country if it's a good song for my taste. I don't mind not relating to the lyrics of a song if the melody is good. Fuck lyrics. Those are secondary. I'm in it for the sound. They could be speaking chinese, as long as it's a good melody.

Also, it's the music that some people like and just like we have to respect you liking rap, you have to respect that some people have musically different opinions. If everyone liked the same kind of music, what kind of world would we have?

I myself love rock.....i just cant respect anyone that listens to Death/Black Metal or any Metal-core music.

I don't particularly like either, but I prefer rap. Some of it is okay, more the old stuff, they new stuff is all "LOOK AT MY I HAVE LOTS OF WEMENS" or "I LUV YOU I LIKE TITS."

I don't stick to any one genre of music. I have bands and music of all kinds on my iPhone. It doesn't matter what style or band it is it just matters if I like that one particular song.
