So thats what all of those pop-up programmes were. I was at the school computer lab traveled here and all of this crazy code copied itself onto the computer. No whenever you open IE on that machine four ads for barly legal porn comes up along with a real estate ad and somthing else. I hope the code writer is caught.

boy are you people glad i came when i did.. never seeing ads again takes alot of work, but you can do it!
http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~atman/spam/adblock.shtml <-- read all here, follow instructions.
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php <-- download this antivirus program, it has no spyware/adware and its free. update often.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html <-- download this program, it stops spyware from running, and from being installed. (including from malicious code.)
http://toolbar.google.ca/ <-- i am sure everyone knows what this is.. it stops most pop-up ads. enable the blocker on sites with pop-up ads, like this one.
http://download.com.com/3001-8022-10194058.html <-- this will take you to spybot search and destroy, the download window will come up right when visiting.
http://www.pcflank.com/securitynews.htm <-- this web site will keep you up to date on any internet security news.
http://www.windowsupdate.com <-- i can not stress enough how important the critical updates are. get them to stop malicious code from running on web pages and in outlook/outlook express, and these updates will help stop hackers from compromising your computer.
http://www.agnitum.com/download/outpost1.html <-- the best ever firewall, the site even has a forum! (those who have zone alarm free version, uninstall and get outpost NOW because zone alarm has a security flaw allowing hackers in. the maker of zone alarm decided not to fix the flaw hoping it would make free users buy the full version, do not fall for this trick! dont give them money for risking online security!!!!)

Yea, its becasue they have no firewalls most likely. Before i got mine I used to get spyware from going to newgrounds, like gator, or weatehrcast or whatever. now i get warning messages about installing that kinda crap. I forgot my username last time so i sorta forget other stuff I said the first time. also i tried to include a print screen of one fo them security warnings about installing crap on newgrounds.

If people never installed pop up blockers, or used browsers that blocked them, we whouldn't have all these problems. Even f'ing ISP include software to block pop ups. It should be ILLEGAL. It's like buying a TV that blocks TV commercials.

There are TVs that block ads. It is called TiVo. Besides, it is rediculous to accuse pop-up blcoers of costing NG money or being responsable for the malicious ads. The Advertisement companies chose to put up ads that harrass people. If people don't want to see their ads it is their right.
The malicious ads are invading people's personal space. I find it offensive that you take a high and mighty position in this. You thiink you are somehow rightious by allowing the good ads on your computer.
I think people can use whatever they have at their disposal to get rid of irritating crap like this. Just as it is the Ad companies' perogative whether they annoy the living sh*t out of the rest of us.

Danm those maliscious ads.

Response to Malicious Ads... 2004-03-20 17:38:47

Now look at TV. You have to pay for that AND you get commercials. Sites like NG, etc. provide a free service for a few ads. It's not that bad a deal, live with it.

TV is free. It is the cable you are paying for and just incase you wanted to know. The first cable TV had NO advertisements, that was the whole idea of cable. It wasn't until more recently (90's) that cable stations decided to make more money by putting in ads. Now come stations have become almost entirely ads (MTV, Scifi). On another note, what ever happened to the music on MTV? Why do you have to go to MTV2 to see any videos?

Get SpyBot - Search and Destroy from security.kolla.de and Ad-aware from lavasoft.com

Both are excellent at killing spyware, but if the shit still sticks, there's sites like spywareinfo.com who can clean out your computer.

Mozilla and firebird are hardly effected by the malicious ads, so check out mozilla.org

Response to Malicious Ads... 2004-03-20 20:38:56

all i can say is you´re doing an awesome job! keep it up!

Response to Malicious Ads... 2004-03-20 21:02:17

Do you have a firewall? If so, that's probably why the ads have not effected you. If you disable it, you may be able to find the malicious ads easier.

Tom, my computer was fucked up for 6 months and I always wondered where all the spyware came from. Thanks a lot. P.S. for people who haven't gotten fucked yet, get Norton Antivirus and/or Ad-aware. Spyware is some serious shit if you let it go unnoticed.

Response to Malicious Ads... 2004-03-21 04:45:19

That's classical. Spyware is cool so i'm not complaining. After all i just love those hentai dialers, keep them coming.
