Official Metal Gear Solid: Rising thread

As you should know, Metal Gear Solid Rising is the upcoming game in the best game series ever.
The game was announced at the Microsoft E3 2009 press conference, and is in development for PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360.

Kojima has specifically said that he would not be directing, as he and the team behind Metal Gear Solid 4 would be busy working on Peace Walker. However they may become involved in MGSRising when Peace Walker is finished

"Tactical Espionage Action", has been replaced by "Lightning Bolt Action" (the word Raiden is Japanese for 'thunder and lightning') however (much to the releif of fans) Kojima confirmed that it will still be a stealth game (if you can call MGS a stealth game...) and the game features a completely new engine.

The main character of the game is Raiden, the protagonist and player character of Metal Gear Solid 2, who appears in the cyborg ninja form he was in during the events of Metal Gear Solid 4.

The story is still unknown, but concept art for the game featured Raiden standing atop what looks like Crying Wolf, resulting in rumors that the game will take place before or during Metal Gear Solid 4 and may explain how Sunny was saved from The Patriots.

I wonder if it'll be majorly different from the other MGS games, I mean they had to change the friggin slogan.

I know everyone hates Raiden, but jeez give the guy a chance. He probably isn't going to top Snake, but he's not THAT bad of a character.

If kojima works his magic on this game, i'm expecting another amazing game. MGS 4 and MGS peacewalker both have gotten perfect scores from multiple magazines and sites, so hopefully his trend will continue.

Peacewalker should be finished up by now, so is his team actually working on this game or are they just going to let it become a crappy spin-off?

I think this may be one of my favorite announcements at E3. Not necessarily because of MGS coming to the 360, but the way they presented it.

Its a lot sooner then anyone expected and is quite unlikely so take this evidence with a grain of salt.

It was leaked from UK retailer GAME, a list of release dates from xbox were announced. even from the same list reliable sources have confirmed the release dates for other games.

Loads of people are complaining about it being RAIDEN since he really wasnt much of a good character in number two where he was SUPPOSED to make an epic impact. Snake will always be the real character in the series.

I like Raiden. I like Snake more, but Raiden was a badass in Guns of the Patriots.

After MGS2, I remember I was always so excited to see how Snake was going to save Olga's daughter. How he told Raiden basically to take care of his problems and then vanished into the crowd.

MGS4 comes along, Raiden is some sort of cyborg ninja with breakdancing moves who saved Olga's daughter. The fuck happened here?

I don't know where I'm going with this, but I hated MGS4. Loved the first three games but 4 was such a pile of overbearing cutscene shit that sometimes I wish I never played it. And this game... this game, with you playing as a fucking fan service cyborg,... I really doubt I'll buy it.

I can't wait for E3 this year, and this is one of the main reasons. Raiden is awesome, haters can suck it. He was awesome in MGS2, then they went and made him even more awesome in MGS4, I can't wait to see how this plays...

I think Raiden was a better character in MGS2 then in MGS4. He reminded me of a cheap copy of Gray Fox =D
i'm looking forward to this game. I hope the gameplay will be like the Nightmare easter egg in Metal Gear Solid 3. (The scene where you play as some sort of random dude who goes around and slash everyone)

Do you have any idea how pissed off the fans would be?
If you want that sort of gameplay then go play Devil May Cry or God of War. Kojima already confirmed about 6,000 times that Rising will still be a stealth game
