Energy drinks and Coffee 2010-05-05 01:46:07 Reply

At first, I thought energy drinks were amazing, because they seemed like they could keep you going, and only "Badass" people drank them. But now that I've done the research, they just don't seem as appealing.

I mean, they're carbonated, in an interesting variety of packaging, and marketed well, but the product itself is just lacking. Most energy drinks, including MONSTER, NOS, Rockstar, and others, (I'm not counting energy "shots" as those can pack up to a whopping 500mg of caffiene) have less caffiene then most coffee and some teas. I personally don't like the flavour of any of the afformentioned beverages. So from a stimulant point of view For example: what you'd use to stay up late, or get through an extra shift. at work, which beverage is better?

TL;DR: For use as a stimulant, which beverage (Coffee or Energy drinks) would be best to use on a regular basis. I don't just mean caffiene content, as I don't plan on dying of some sort of tumor caused by an odd chemical or two.

Note:I have heard that there are "Questionable" additions in to energy drinks, as in stuff that may or may not have negative effects on the human body.

but now you frown. A pity. Smiling is healthier.

On a regular basis? Drink coffee. Energy drinks will give you diabeetus.

And just because I love posting this picture:
I used to drink this all the time when I worked morning shifts. Nothing woke me up more. But nowadays if I drink it I get really uncomfortable and can't sit still. Think of that what you may, but I don't miss energy drinks especially now knowing how bad they are for you.

I drink the occasional energy drink, but I mainly rely on coffee... Mainly because I can get it free, but it's really effective. Just black, no sugar or any of that bullshit. I would think it's also better from a health standpoint considering it's more natural.

My preference is coffee because I like the taste better, but it depends on what I'm doing. Coffee gets cold too quick, so unless I'm able to have ten minutes to drink it then I'll opt out for a Red Bull. Not to mention that coffee is less unhealthy for you than Red Bull by a long shot.

I'll tend to have coffee when I wake up, then Red Bull at work just because it looks cooler (Yes I realize it's superficial, but my paycheck at the end of the night relies on my looks throughout the night), and it doesn't make my breath smell like shit.

Energy drinks have huge amounts SUGAR in them, which arguably gives you more of an "energy boost" than any cup of coffee could.

Caffeine doesn't do anything for me anymore. Coffee tastes good, but when I need to pull an all-nighter, I either don't drink anything or get energy drinks. I prefer NOS and Venom, but they don't sell those around here for some reason so I'm stuck with fucking Rockstar or whatever the cheapest one at CVS is.

Ehh my whole family line has diabeeettus so chances are, im getting it too but I drink a shit load of energy drinks. Coke/Pepsi and coffee. I have atleast 2 cups of coffee, 2 cans of coke and minimum of 1 energy drink a day. I dont know why i just love the zing you get from the taste.

Feeling wise, I don't feel shit it's just...drinking coffee makes me sleepy, drinking coke does nothing to me, and drink V (not sure if u have V in america...its like the best tasting enrgy drink) BUT ANYWAYS yeah it doesn't do anything at all for me.

-I drink energy drinks every once in a while. More for the taste than anything.
-Coffee is one of my least favorite drinks.
-Tea is good but it doesn't really wake me up.

Tolerance is a bitch. I remember back when I drank around 15 cups of Coke a day. It didn't do anything.

Also, cigarettes are way better than caffeine or sugar for energy. It's a lot harder to crash from nicotine.

Most of what make energy drinks appealing is that the caffeine levels are not what get you going, but the other chemicals and what not in there.

How did this get here? I am not good with internet.
