Looking for a western action RPG.

Western, as in not Zelda or anything like that. Nothing against Zelda, but still.

And by RPG I mean anything like Zelda or God of War. It doesn't have to have experience or leveling up, although that's good too.

I said I didn't want an eastern style game. Zelda is eastern, Fallout is western. But I want the GAMEPLAY from Zelda.

In regards to GoW, it is officially categorized as an Action RPG because you gain experience and upgrade your weapons.

God of War is not an action RPG. It is a hack and slash game. A very good one, but hack and slash none the less. It's proper genre is action/adventure. A true RPG would be something like Fallout, Oblivion, Fable and the like. Action RPG would be something like Diablo, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, or Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

The games I just mentioned are also all western titles.

Dante's Inferno is also considered an action/adventure. It has RPG lite elements.

Mass Effect 1 is a western RPG, and so is Dragon Age Origins.
Try those.

Shadow of the Colussus or Prince of Persia series are two games that come to mind. Prince of Persia has a lot of puzzle solving that Zelda fans (like myself) like.

Is there a particular reason why you want it to be specifically Western, but with the gameplay from a Japanese game?

Well, if all you're against in Eastern games is big eyes, I'd still recommend an Eastern game called Ico. No big eyes there.

Step one: Buy Mount And Blade. I'd usually tell you to get the sequel since it's better with improvements on the base, but you'll need the boring version. Feel free to try the trial before you buy it though.

Step two: Look up the 1886 mod. It's a western cowboy mod.
