scouting/unscouti ng Q's 2010-04-20 02:25:18

So in the past like 5 minutes after recently submitting some new art to the art portal, I have been unscouted, scouted, and then unscouted again. I was just curious as to why this keeps happening? Is my art hated or offensive or deemed unfit so I am being kicked in and out repeatedly? I don't get it... I chose to submit my art to get other people's opinions. What am I doing wrong?

I appreciate decent, mature feedback :-)

Personally, the only thing I see wrong with your art is that most of the photographs need to be cropped so that only the art is visible. Uncropped/poorly photographed is a pet peeve of ours, and may have led to you getting unscouted. The more likely reason is because the person who scouted you (or someone higher up your tree) got unscouted, which caused you to be unscouted.

Next time you have any questions please post in the Official Art Portal Q&A Thread, making threads without a starter pic is against the Art Forum Rules.

You're gettin scouted/unscouted because scouted members think you have some good work to put in the portal, whilst one or more art portal mods think otherwise. I would also say that if your work is on portal for a while, but is getting little views or low voting, that may also influence a mod's decision to prune you.

Another reason is that if your scouting large amounts of total crap, that would also get you pruned.

I would say you're borderline. On one hand I think your linework looks crisp, smooth and just nice, and I like the decorative curls. If you use another colour to define key areas, I think they'd be good graphics for stickers and fashonable patches (the latter is what they remind me of).

On the otherhand, they could be interprated as doodles, and that you could spend more time on them. Possibly because you replicate symbolism throughout your pics, such as the eye, the "love" heart, skulls, etc. It's ok, but it does get a bit boring, possibly because you're running on automatic when you draw them. Try something else; maybe something more art nouveau, or just try getting bigger and bolder.

If you're looking for criticism, you could ask for some from the Review Request Club, since they provide decent reviews on demand. For now, all I can suggest is to keep working on your stuff, and you'll probably be picked up again.

locked, mainly cos Ben and I have answered the question, but for more legitimate reasons this thread doesn't have a starter pic, and would be better off in the Art Portal Patrol thread or Wi/Ht forum.
