4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsWell, I'm new to Newgrounds and I just realized you need a certain flash thing to make flash movies, I honestly wanna know if my drawings of sonic can or look close to how Sonic Team might draw them. (Since a friend told me it does look like Sonic Team drew it, but the main point is the characters in the pic I drew(I promise I did not trace it one bit! DX) And honestly, this pic took 3 hours, and it's my first drawing of a couple. Hope you like it.
The lines are sloppy, the colouring is sloppy and even though you "didn't" trace it, it's still obviously heavily referenced.
What he said. plus no shading
Clean up your lines a bit before you decide somethings done, use quick long strokes, not quick jagged lines.
Emulating a style isn't that difficult with a bit of practice so it makes since you can make your stuff look similar to sega, but the quality isn't similar.
I really don't see the appeal in sega's designs, they are all the same minus the species and the color scheme, anorexic, and kinda silly looking, especially when paired up with (semi)realistic people.
As just a sketch this is amazing, I like the so-called sloppy look.
Don't loose hope, and don't get discouraged. But yeah, telling you to not draw what you're inspired by usually isn't going to help. And even copying is better than not drawing at all. Just try to invent some of your own characters, and don't worry about style. Style comes with time. Just worry about conveying information, poses, light sources, emotion. Tell a story with every line. Keep drawing, and draw some original stuff too.
Well thanks for the compliments and the advice, I did now just notice some screwups, but it just means I should try a lot harder. Again Thanks.
