That's right. I remember when Morningrise came through the post and she saw the CD. She asked if she could listen to it but I recommended her to listen to Blackwater Park instead and she loved their music right away. Funny to think how we went as far as seeing them live and it all began with myself showing her Blackwater Park.

Ah that's awesome that you went to see them live together. Blackwater Park was my first Opeth album too, I think it's an accessible album for those who want to try them out.

Think this will be as good/better than the roundhouse DVD?

Take a look at the set list. They're playing Blackwater Park in its entirety, along with some of their best songs. I can't wait until its release.

My first was In My Arms, Your Hearse, and it's still my favorite.

You seem to be the exception from the rule then. :P

My first album was Blackwater Park as well.

I'd say it gives the listeners the best idea of what their music is like. It has the right balance of their soft and hard parts as well as offering some of the finest songs they've ever made.

Yep, it's an incredible setlist. You won't be disappointed with the live performance.

So is mine actually. I wasn't fully aware of what every single album of their was like but I was familiar with Bleak beforehand and wanted to get Blackwater Park because of that song.

Blackwater Park > Ghost Reveries > Morningrise > Orchid > Deliverance > My Arms, Your Hearse > Still Life > Damnation > Watershed

Blackwater park was first because it's got such a great cover.

Blackwater was one of the ones I last listened to and it's one of my least favorites. After In My Arms I listened to Deliverance, then Orchid, Morningrise, Still Life, Watershed, Damnation, and Blackwater Park.

That's a great setlist,I still wish they'd play "Isolation Years" live though

They give you Blackwater Park live and you complain?

I'll admit, I was slightly disappointed with them not playing Black Rose Immortal at the Royal Albert Hall but I can respect the fact that they played over 3 hours worth of music and playing a 20 minute song is probably asking too much. The only other thing I wished was them to have played The Grand Conjuration instead of Reverie/Harlequin Forest. However, the second set was meant to be songs that they don't play as often and I'm sure The Grand Conjuration has been played many times. And besides, I think that song would have been too extreme for the Royal Albert Hall. :P

Response to Opeth Club 2010-07-24 19:04:27

I've just learned something about Ghost Reveries. You know how Harlequin Forest's title is "Reverie/Harlequin Forest?" The "Reverie" part is the end of Atonement, you know, after the song stops and then picks back up for a bit.

But everyone probably already knew that.

I got Blackwater Park because of the song Blackwater Park. ^^

I don't know Ghost Reveries, Morningrise and Orchid (yeah, my Opeth collection is still pretty small) but I doubt I like those albums better than Deliverance.

You'll just have to wait and see but I know you really like Deliverance. Ghost Reveries is great overall and Morningrise happens to be my second favourite Opeth album. If you're to get another Opeth album soon, please make it Morningrise.

What? Really? Morningrise is amazing. It's only five songs but it's one of their best works. Black Rose Immortal and Advent are absolutely incredible.

I bought Watershed and Damnation recently. Both of them are better than I expected.

Yeah, nothing beats seeing Deliverance (the song) live. Contains one of my favorite drummings of all time.

If you're to get another Opeth album soon, please make it Morningrise.

I try to keep that in mind.

In terms of speed and power, I think Wreath has better drumming. The intro just hits you hard. In terms of technical drumming though, I'd say Deliverance is better. That outro always blows me away.

I don't think shows work like that :P.
And yeah, it isn't a rarity in their sets. I've heard it live probably 4 out of 6 times. Only recently have they stopped playing it as far as my memory serves me.

Anyone else think this song sounds somewhat like Porcelain Heart?

Not really... I can't really compare Watershed's sound to anything, really. It's got its own unique sound to me.

Isn't it their most popular song...?

Also, Bahamut - ARE YOU ON IT?

Also am I the only one who thinks Blackwater Park is the ONLY Opeth album that ISN'T amazing? It's decent but compared to every other Opeth album it just fails. (Except for Bleak, Bleak is an amazing song)

I think the album is pretty good, but the only songs I think are really great are The Leper Affinity, Bleak, and Blackwater Park.
