I'm running Flash Professional 8 in Windows 7 and sometimes it crashes when I try to export. I just made a decent preloader and then once I tried exporting, it crashed. Just completely froze. This should not be happening on a 2.66 GHz quad-core system with 6 GB of DDR3 RAM installed.

That should teach you a few things:

1) Upgrade your version of Flash
2) Don't use Windows 7

I cant do either. I have no way of getting Windows XP. I paid $239 for Macromedia Studio 8 off of eBay and actually got the original disk in perfect condition even with the original serial key sticker. Obviously, I'm kind of poor. I'm simply not willing to pay more than $250 for any program. $600 is inexcusable. Plus I heard CS4 is buggy anyway.

What am I supposed to do? Buy a Mac (my disk has a Mac version on it as well)? That is too expensive for the hardware I'll get out of it. I'll accept nothing short of a quad core for my development PC, and I sure the hell can't afford a quad-core Mac!

Try running it in compatibility mode, and save your work often.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Windows 7, it can run everyone XP can.
His problem has nothing to do with his flash or windows version. Sometimes crashing can be caused by the coding itself and if it's not that then i have no idea but Flash 8 works fine on Windows 7 so don't blame your OS or your software.

I agree with Torrunt. I also use windows 7 and everything is fine except the color scheme has been adjusted with windows basic'. Try to recode if possible.

This seems like an unusual problem, for usually Flash 8 works fine. But as the software gets older, it gets a little more difficult for the older software, such as Flash, to crash. I use Vista(not proud) and occasionally it will crash on me, and I can lose a whole day's work. So all you can really do is remember to save very often. It's a lesson I had to learn the hard way.
