WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN, you ask.
Basically, we're going to collab and make a song without knowing what the rest of the song sounds like. Here are the rules:
- 130 BPM
- In the key of C minor
- 36 bars long
- First two bars are intro, last two bars are outro
Use whatever instrument you want - piano, drums, your voice, WHATEVER! The chord progressions and rhythms are of your own choosing, as long as it's in C minor and 130 BPM.
Upload your track as an .mp3 to www.mediafire.com and PM me a link. DON'T POST IT IN THE THREAD
On Monday, I'll take all the tracks you guys sent me and combine them. I won't alter anything except the volume, so they mix together well.
THIS OUGHT TO BE FUN

Lol, forgot to mention that. It's good ol' 4/4 time signature.
By the way, send me only ONE track of ONE instrument.

The thing is, they won't be random, as they're all in the same key. That and Rig knows what he's doing.
I'll churn out something.

I'll take part as a guitarist.
Anything you're going towards genre-wise?

The idea is that it sort of gets mashed together, so if everyone would use multiple instruments, it'd get kind of ridiculous to do.

It doesn't have to be perfect. Just one instrument playing something for 36 bars. Or two bars. You could have 30 bars of silence and just screaming for the last 6.

Start a new one in c minor right now. Your other song file isn't going anywhere. The deadline for this little ditty is monday and it's only 36 bars. Also, it's not like your committed to this project once you start something. Start working on a melody and if you don't like it in five minutes, go back to your other project. Start working on a melody tonight/ tomorrow morning/ whenever before monday. You don't have to impress anyone. Worry more about improving your song writing abilities then whether or not what you do is any good.
Story time... I used to spend months working on say one song at a time. Sometimes I'd get lucky though and pound out a really great track in a day. I came to the conclusion that if I started something new everyday instead of fondling around with the same track for weeks at a time, productivity would go up. I was damn fucking right. I've never been more productive.
Now for the scary part of the story... if I'm not happy with a song file by the end of the day I started working on it... I delete it :O

Actually... one question... can the single instrument be multitrack? I.E. do it's own harmony? Or should it be a mono type feel to avoid clashing with the other stuff?

Yeah, someone sent me a piano. It's fine.
As a side note, guys, not EVERY instrument has to have a melody. There's always room for a basic pad or chord progression.

I have a massively phat pad I programmed into one of my devices, and I have absolutely no use for it. Or at least, that's what I thought ;)

It's turning out surprisingly coherent so far. The chord progressions people are choosing are eerily similar.

You are mixing this to help it make sense, right?
