what does a angel .. in a word form look like to you?

brilliant white wings, sexy white and flapping in the wind skirt, brilliant white top,
gentle as she flies and long, and a voice that yo can only feel.

why do we have angels in our mythology? other then a sex or love figures they are not really all that useful to either god or mankind....why?

Yeah.. Who has sex with angels? They are meant to be protecters, not sexual partners.

To me (though I don't believe in them) angels can be the form of anyone. It just depends on the person who is 'seeing' the angel. The angel is usually a loved one, perhaps a parent who died or a sibling, or old friend. Someone who shares a bond with the person they are protecting.

Who else would be the perfect guardian to watch over us?

Interestingly enough, there was a special documentary on Angels on the History Channel (or a similar channel) over the weekend. Apparently, angels were around long before monotheism came along, and have had a variety of purposes and appearances throughout our religious history. They appear in most of the major religions as well, and a number of biblical-esque books which didn't make it in the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible center around angels (see The Book of Enoch).

Personally, my version of an angel will always be the white wings and flowing robes (thanks Catholic grade school), but there have been some weird-looking angels over the course of religion.

The usual angel would be a white clothed figure usually in a robe with white bird like wings and have a light aura radiating from them.

Well not whatever humans think, at the end of the day angels are not peaceful beings, in the bible and that they are God's soldiers, warriors, so my idea of an angel is like Rambo with wings, unless the angel's female, then it's obviously the most attractive women ever.
