The answer was pretty obvious. No one is dumb enough to buy a game just for graphics and if they are, they deserves a good smack to the head. Me? I love a game with an intense story, without one what is the point to playing it.
Gameplay, first and foremost of course.

Gameplay, SNES FTW :D
Looks good, sounds good and plays good. In that order.

I realize this post is nearly a year old, but NO. I'd buy a game for $10 if you just walked around and everything looked incredible. There's a game on the iPhone that is just that.
Gameplay > graphics.
Without Crysis's HD graphics, it's just another generic FPS.
Long Campaign
Cool Plot
Cool Charakters
Replayability
Creativity & Variability
Gameplay
Multiplayer
Ingame Achievements System (fucking rare today)

Gameplay and what puddinN64 posted.
Gameplay but designers these days seem to only care about graphics.
Gameplay, story. fun, and such-like. Honestly, at the end of the day, I'm just looking for a good time.
Gameplay, but more specifically I look for extreme difficulty and something unique as one thing I have noticed is idiots seem to hate anything new or anything where they can't idle, betray, camp, or shove large poles up their ass. So far though, after numerous online games such as but not limited to: Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Halo Reach, Black Ops, MW2, and Dead Space 2; I have not come across a single intelligent player.
I don't think I've ever even thought about graphics in any game.

There's a reason why I play my SNES more than my 360.
Heck, I'd take Ocarina of Time over any flashy FPS.
I put the BS in BBS.
I look for cute graphics and solid gameplay

you are a troll or a dumbass
The gameplay. If it isn't fun, it isn't worth playing.

Case in point: Trespasser.
You might this Contra-Style shooter then:

Also, yeah, I mainly look for Gameplay. I also look for local 4-P Co-op but I'm hard pressed to find that without popping in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, or making due with Boderlands.....
x)
Ill have to pick gameplay like most of you have seeing as you would not want a game were the controls are buggies and some other stuff like crashing in the game to happen... but it should have a little bit of good graphics so it can make the game more fun of course.
In my own opinion, I look for game play first, then graphics. Many time, graphics cannot judge the entertainment value in a game, but it can add to it. I will never rule out a game because of graphics till I have played it. Unless, you know, it's to the point where the game cant't be played.
I'd buy a shitty game if it had amazing graphics.
story
action
gameplay
emotional detail
graphics
alot of stuff

Playing a game because you like the story is like eating cereal because you like to use the spoon.
Now what I look for in a game is nice design of things. Not necessarily graphics, but nicely designed levels and characters. Then there's music.
What I don't get is what people mean when they say they look for gameplay. Do they mean they play games for nice controls?
It has to be the gameplay an a cool soundtrack to go along with. But although the graphics are a must for today gaming.
Gawd. I hate my NG username.

As long as it has a good fun factor, I digg it.
wazeh?
epic music, graphics, great gameplay, good storyline etc
Just the gameplay, good graphics is just a bonus.
The gameplay if you're in it just for the graphics you are a terrible terrible person. Like come on isn't the reason we play to have fun?

I lol'd at this.
But honestly, the gameplay. Ever since FF X-2 there has been proof that graphics mean jack shit when it comes to playing a game. I have no interest in a game that has no content but mind blowing graphics.
Yea, I farm Anal Penguins. Do something about it.
