Now I've been doing my homework and decent houses seem to be around 60-90 a week per room, but then you have gas / electric / food bills on top of that, plus whatever extra luxuries you may want. I've got a fair bit saved up in the bank, but I know that it could very easily get wasted if I am not careful with what I spend it on.
So, this thread is basically just request for any information/ insight you guys might have on the practicalities of moving out, landlords, any stuff that I may not know about moving out because tbh I really am in the dark here.

Well it says you're 18 on your profile. I wouldn't suggest it just yet. Go to University and live life there for a while. At least then you get a furthered education and some real-life experience first.
then move the hell out
That way you'll make yo parents proud.
I was planning to move out when I was 16, me and 3 other mates were to get a place and share the costs, however 2 of them backed out and we couldn't possibly pay for it ourselves.
I think I'm going to Uni and live there straight away, to get a feel of independence, afterwards I haven't properly planned however I think sharing the costs with a friend or a roommate is the way to go, until things get a bit more stable.

My birthday is in August, so I'm quite young for my year. The thing is, I dont want to go to university, and I've been working full time since I finished college about 7/8 months ago. I'd just appreciate abit more freedom considering in most respects I am an adult.

Doesn't matter much to me how young you are for your year but more so that you're still just young. I say that being 20 so I'm not like super old or anything haha, but still I stand firm on my suggestion of Uni first since it can be a real eyeopener experience--but if you sincerely have no plans to go then why not go try to live off on your own for a bit? Sure. Just make sure not to leave your parents on a bad note or else if you need them you're in for it.
Find a job ASAP and be sure to use your skills to make money. Go shopping every Saturday or Sunday. Always show up on work on time, or get fired. Don't break the law. If you need to drive, be sure to take driving lessons. Don't waste money. Spend it wisely. Work hard. And the biggest thing is...
Enjoy it but use your freedom wisely.
this morning i found a lump in my prostate o and a bump
Best to have a bit of money saved up before you move in anywhere, just in case you get made redundant at your job. I'm not saying that's likely to happen, but these days it's getting harder and harder to find work and you don't want to find yourself with bills you can't pay.

I am a FAB
I think it would be great to go out and live on your own, which is what I have been wanting to do for awhile and what my brother has been wanting to do for awhile too. I suggest that you make sure you have the right amount of money and be sure to not waste it on superfluous things, so you can always have extra money on hand.

You shouldn't spend more than 30% of your income on rent if you want to live comfortably. It'll cost you about $40 or so a week to feed yourself (much more if you don't know how to cook for yourself and buy food from the grocery store). Be prepared to live with room mates who suck.
I'm actually getting pretty close to moving out myself. My job will probably bump me up to 40 hrs/week in April and by September I hope to have an MS IT cert program completed so I'll actually be worth something. 'roundabout December I'll have a years experience working in IT, so if my current job isn't willing to pay me what I deserve by them I'll leverage a raise against other job offers from other companies. The recession's over in MA and network maintenance positions are one of the areas that has already been growing steadily anyway.
Once I've got a couple of the necessary tests under my belt, I'll feel comfortable asking for enough of a raise to get out of my house and live reasonably at an apartment somewhere around here. Then once I've got the IT cert done and could possibly make salary-level pay, I'll start looking into getting my Bachelor's.
Make a budget. It will help you a lot & make you save a lot of money. Also, don't move out with the first guy you see, choose your roomate wisely (if you want one). Pay your bills before you pay anything else. Don't spend a lot of money on things you can't pay for the moment.
I have a shit landlord, which is good for money but nothing will get done. We have mice, ceilings falling in and all sorts, so it depends if you want extra money or a shit place. Also you have to learn to conserve things like water, gas & electricity carefully or you're cut off and that's never fun. It's not cool having to do absolutely everything yourself but if you can't live at home anymore, for w/e reason, it's perfectly ajustable - and complete freedom!
There's not really a whole lot of hidden fees or anything when it comes to apartments. Most are all inclusive. Just make sure you rent a washer and drier or whatever. That's not a good thing to forget. :p The main thing is just making sure you've got the steady wage to pay for it all. Don't do it if you're not 100% sure you're going to have your job for as long as your lease is.

It's common knowledge advice that you should aim to spend 25% of your income on rent. It's not by any means the only way to live. But, you'll have trouble making ends meet if you spend much more than that on rent. I did not come up with this myself, I've heard it advised to others repeatedly.

is getting wasted really worth it? I mean look everything is free, food, appliances, no rent, safe place. You move to an inexpensive place your gonna get a lot of lowlifes that cant afford much ether, that are troubled, and will rob you and shit. Just so you can get wasted.... I dont see it being worth it man, save your money.
